There are definitely question marks, but at the same time I believe that the answers are “in house”. Play the kids Billy, you will not be disappointed…. Micheletti Monday Boys!!!!
I'm not actually sure what the direction is other than "just make playoffs"........The Hartman deal is fine. 21 goals in 74 games last year. 15 goals in 59 games the prior year. 34 goals in 82 games prior to that. $4M for a 25 goal scorer is fine with me for guy still in his 20s, and this is a guy they moved up and down the line-up all year long. I think at this point the roster is what the roster is and we all need to get over it. Jesper goes to Iowa. Heidt goes to WHL. Guerin HAS TO get Yurov to sign immediately this KHL off season and Kirill IS going to cost $14M+ or say good-bye. The day Kirill signs elsewhere is the day Guerin is fired. Write that down 😊
Totally agree about the survey that this is how folks observing the process feel/ think etc. Personally I’m still banking on BG wanting to win big. I don’t think he’s in it to just cash a check or appease an owner. I give them a B+. If by 2026 they’re getting bounced in the first round forget about a C- I’m flunking them.
I think confidence really started to turn with the Stramel pick in the 2023 draft, since the prospects are the only area of excitement on the team right now with the team cap-strapped. The extensions for Hartman and Zuccarrello I think everyone could stomach. Add in the over-the-top deals for Gaudreau and Foligno that no one else would've offered and the poor seasons from pretty much all of them and its snowballed. If the Wild are competing for the wildcard (which they should), three of Foligno, Gaudreau, Hartman, Middleton, and Zuccarrello have bounce back seasons (which they should), and two or three of O'Rourke, Hunt, Novak, Lambos, Peart, Bankier, Masters, Haight, Milne, and Spacek take legitimate steps and look like they have careers as NHLers (which should happen in Iowa this year), I think people will move on.
@@iammrcub bad contracts are traded all the time, you just need to add a draft pick kicker..Freddy's $2.1 is nothing for a team that needs a quality utility guy....nothing happens for at least a year...
Mlh no thank you. My confidence isnt really plummeting, but its down a touch. This team is still way better in every way than it has been really ever. We have a fringe playoff roster with players that need to keep developing, and we have a solid system of prospects
Overall, I have very low confidence in the leadership team right now. Why? I'm very disappointed in player development (not scouting and drafting... except for Stramel, that's been mostly good). BG talks "we're here to win", and he is bold and confident in himself. But, he brings in questionable talent during free agency and implements contracts for low to mid-tier players that are inflated and cement the Wild's identity as a "just win enough to puts fans in the seats" kind of team. He should have taken the leap and done a complete rebuild, IMO. Not sure if that's due to CL's direction or BG himself.
I agree its scary to think we could lose our 1st superstar, but its upto Kirill if he wants to stay or not... if he has his mind set on living in Florida on the coast with no state income tax, even if we win the cup the next 2 years he's still going to leave for Free Agency...
@@joef2504 There is zero doubt in my mind Kirill would re-sign here if the Wild were competing for Stanley Cups. All that matters to him is winning. The Wild have given him zero reason to want to stay.
Everybody talks about the Young prospects needing to play in the NHL now, hard truth is that they are not ready yet...they've been getting their a$$ whooped in Iowa the past few seasons even with Wallstedt putting up great numbers...Billy extended Hartman/Foligno/Gaudreau because the Iowa guys aren't ready yet...the full NMC's turning into limited NMC's the next few years keeps the door open for trading them away once the Iowa guys are ready...
I remember early on in his tenure, he verbally placed emphasis on developing 4th line players and 3rd pairing D. That in my mind, has not panned out to this point. Hearing BG is open to trading our first high end skilled center developed internally in decades is a huge downer. John Hines feels like a legacy hire, which I know the foundation of hockey is built on, it's just so boring and mediocre. Feels right on par with all the 4x4.5M deals. I'm tired of watching 4th line players signed outside the organization playing all the way up through the 2nd line.
This is the final year of the major buyout pain, of course fan confidence is going to be at its lowest (we're burned out on not having any capspace)...GMBG's future vision starts this March/April when the Wild CAN finally trade for a bigtime player at the trade deadline and then extend them long term and Buium and Yurov will join the team when their playoffs are done... The veteran extensions recently signed are moot as they switch to limited NMCs over the next 2 years and can be traded away...
To be fair, Guerin had about $2]M to spend and he spent it on aging veterans. Plus, $8.5M of the Parise/Suter $13M was already spent on Faber and Rossi Wallstedt and Marat all need new deals. Long story short there is no "cap relief" on its way.
Cap hell never ends. $8.5M of the $13M Parise/Suter cap was already spent on Faber. Plus, Marat Rossi and Wallsted also need new contracts and soon Kirill will need $14M+ The only teams that ever have cap space are the bottom feeders.
Fleurey deal is simply hoping to rehabilitate the Gus Bus which has a bad choke problem! Cannot trade him at this point, nobody would give a plug nickel. The rest, Billy is rubbing a rabbit's foot hoping his bacon somehow get's pulled out of the fire and into the pan! HOPE IS NOT A STRATEGY! Sure Billy's guys have found what look to be top prospects but he has zero idea or push from this owner to implement! Fire Billy Magic 8 Ball and Haynes and bring in a cup experienced management duo!!!
Unfortunately, it seems like the Wild, like the rest of the Minnesota teams, seem happy to just be competitive without ever actually going for it. It wears on a fan base and makes it hard to continue to root for teams that don't even seem like they care about winning a championship.
Definitely wearing for sure, it’s amazing the X still is always full, I always tell Seth, could you imagine west 7th if the wild made the cup and won, that atmosphere would be absolutely nuts
@@toadvine7952 How many more championships do the Vikings and Timberwolves have than the Wild???? If you're going to troll at least be good at it, dimwit. Good job giving your own post a thumbs up 😂

Hey everybody! Here is today's question:
Do you agree with the fan survey results? How confident are you in the Wild's direction?
Share your thoughts!
Zero confidence.

It's the contract extension to bottom 6 guys. And keeping mojo on the roster and hiring of John hynes is what did it for me
They can be traded away starting after this season...
@@joef2504 Somebody has to want them. Who will want Foligno's, let alone that contract? Who wants Freddy? Again, nobody.

Spot on! And I lean towards this being a CL decision.
For me, it's the Kaprizov clock ticking that makes me the most nervous
Especially if they miss the playoffs, then it’s gets really nerve wrecking

Hiring coach with a playoff series victory was not smart
Billy is out of his league trying to run an NHL team. He should be running the kegs at a frat house.

The owner is perfectly content with this. Sustained revenue. It will never change until people stop buying tickets.
I think they feel that if they just stay the way they are eventually other teams will have to catch up with them
