- I was actually around the corner having a look at another potential cleanup when I saw this place on my way out and decided to knock on the door. When I offered to make over the tenant's yard for free, she was just about jumping out of her shoes. Apparently, her mower broke a few weeks ago, and I came along just at the right time. To say thank you for the work, the tenant bought me a box of chocolates and wrote a really nice card. She was so happy with her new yard, she even went out and bought a new letter box to finish it all off and assured me she will look after it from now on. All up, I spent around 15 hours on this job, with 3 trips to the landfill.

Q: Where are you located?
A: I am from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘.
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 5 years on the job.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: Mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs.
Q: What happened to Nick?
A: Nick was offered a full-time position at his other job as a Political admin.
Q: What happened to Brent?
A: Brent quit at the start of August 2022.
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of bins?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I would say it's because Australia had a temperate to tropical climate, and therefore it doesn't matter that much if they are outdoors. To me, though, it seems a bit inefficient to have them outside in Tasmania with a temperate climate (coldish for 3 - 4 months per year). But that is industry standard down here 🤷♂️
Q: Why are you cutting so close to your employee?
A: I'm not cutting too close to my workers, they are standing too close to where I am working! All of my workers have been told numerous times about standing too close to the tools and about the hazards involved!
Q: Why do your workers do all the lifting and carrying?
A: Basically, they are employed to carry things and I pay them well, to do the job required.
Q: You work so well together, how do you do it?
A: That's the magic of editing. My workers are basically given instructions on what to do, I just edit it all out, so the videos look seamless!
Q: Why don't you have help?
A: I've had many problems with employees in the past, so now I work alone.
Q: Why don't you have a ride-on mower?
A: Well, there are a few reasons.
1. I don't have the right trailer for a ride on, considering I always take away the green waste.
2. I don't have anywhere to store it, as my shed is too small.
3. A lot of the properties we do have fences and gates, so you can't actually get a ride-on on to the properties.
4. I don't do enough big jobs to justify spending 15k AUD on a stander, but it would be nice to have one!
5. I will get one as soon as my transport and storage problems are solved.
Q: What happened to your workers?
A: Because the work is so hard and I expect high standards, most have quit over time. The only exception so far is Nick.
Q: What types of ladders do you use?
A: The large one is a Gorilla Adjustable Platform 150kg and the small one is a Gorilla Mighty 19. They are both adjustable.
Q: Who/what is Jim's Mowing?

The downside of corner blocks is that in Australia we are responsible for the mowing of them.
The bird you hear at the beginning and end is the magpie.
Sad that some people have major problems. You came to the rescue and now that their place looks so much better that sitting outside getting fresh air, sun it could help even a bit, but they don't have the yard to clean up. George, you sure did an EXCELLENT job for them. 👍💯😎
I love how you go the extra mile in either repairing a fence, stacking wood or bricks; the little special touches that others don't do.
Agree. That's the part I like to see the most. Removing trash, pulling large bushes out, mending gates, etc. To me, that makes the most difference and is is why George is one of my favorites to watch. He pays attention to details. And the details are what finish off a project!

Но вот у нас в России, все по другому. У меня бабушке 68 лет, а она фору любому мужчине даст, дрова рубит на раз😊 Чтобы спилить дерево нам русским женщинам мужик не нужен (их пока раскачаешь проще самой сделать😊) Я так все делаю сама на участке и пилю и стригу кусты, и дрова рублю, да вообще все. Sometimes people let it go for a little while and the job becomes much bigger. With depression, people can struggle with having the energy to do the basics, let alone big jobs. Its a terrible thing to go through.
