Turn 70 soon. Does my heart good to see the young music scene today.....people like Billy, Avetts, Old Crowe, Jason Isbell, Tyler Childers and a lot more. I go to concerts a lot more now because these folks are real musicians
Bluegrass never died. But its certainly blown up!! So gratful for all the younger musicians standing on the greats as well as making it their own music
I’ll be 73 soon & I’ve been lovin’ these new boys. I got my ticket for Tyler Childers at The Met in Philly in August. I didn’t make this concert to see Billy & the guys this time ‘round but I hope to see him some day. It’ll happen. Lol.
This isn't even Jerry's tune. If I am not mistaken it is an old folk tune from England with artist unknown. Can you imagine the life that tune has had? It still brings goosebumps to those who hear it. What a gift the writer has given us. Can you imagine if he or she could know what a life it has had? Could you imagine the satisfaction that would come from authoring a tune like this?
I saw a Billy strings somewhere in Philly it was outside and the show was absolutely wonderful. I blame my lack of recall on really great psychedelics. But all that aside the musicians that he plays with, every single one makes each other sound phenomenal. I wish they did this song. And I also think he is so underrated as a guitar player. I don't know if anybody's seen the cover of I believe it's ramble on, he picks up a Les Paul and makes that thing sound amazing
Fabulous. He opened up with this at a little festival in Pittsburgh years back. It was cold and raing sideways. Billy walked out on stage and threw a bunch of ponchos out to the crowd and then started jamming this song. It was fucking incredible.
I played and sang this song at a party where some musicians I'd seen a bunch attended and played some songs too. Watched one of them enjoying and being moved by my singing and playing, was a neat moment I won't forget
Is there anyone who is not yet enlightened who doesn’t know and believe with all their heart that Bob Weir is about to start a new band after Dead & Co that will include Billy Strings on lead guitar???? come on y’all this is the closest thing to Jerry Garcia of the world has ever seen
Ugh this frustrates me beyond belief. I have the maddest admiration for this band but the first concert I went to was just too persistent with affects, catered heavily on psychedelic tones. Overall just intensely aggressive. It was given no room to breath. Im not implying I dont want to avoid psychedelic accents, and sure dont want to expect from Billy, but id give my last testicle to hear this.
@@raoulwise1654 well for one, its my last testicle, not my left, lol. And one who might want to cure people from testicular cancer, or study it. But id give it to the fire for this song.
Beautiful. Almost as nice as Garcia's take on the tune. Sorry... Billy is truly great but I'm hopeless when it comes to Jerry's music. That totally unique voice on both his guitar and his singing was perfect for this genre of music ( and others of course)!
I wish Jerry was alive to hear this.

Skip, I believe it’s a matter of standing on the shoulders of giants, and the giants would be tapping their feet and smiling.
Oh yeah and I forgot to mention I got a play this summer with Billy strings
Never knew how lucky I was to hear my dad play music until I couldn't.
Oh how I can relate...
I felt this comment ❤
Billy and his band are nothing short of incredible
the older i get the more i love the old bluegrass roots of music. old school intsuments without the computer effects. human music. natural music.
It’s gets down deep in your soul
Me too, first Billy concert i went to relied on was too heavy with hypnotic affects. Id go through great efforts to catch this vibe.
the rest of the world needs to catch up with acoustic
hope this is okay. here is one of my renditions of a classic song with just guitar and vocals th-cam.com/video/RPmJDOlH9UU/w-d-xo.html
The talent on that stage is absolutely insane!!!
Mind is blown at every show I’m blessed to see
Yes indeed!😊
@@OldHomeBlake Lucky you. Have yet to see them live. I can not wait for that blessed day.

Wow. This sent shivers up my spine. Jerry's version always brought tears to my eyes.

Billy seems unable to miss a note! And he's got a voice too! If I could play 25% as good as Billy Strings, I would be a happy man!
Jerry is proud so sad I missed this one
We're all proud as f! They are incredible.
strings, the king of covers. Honestly i dont know how someone rises to this level of popularity singing other people's music.
He has written some all time classics himself, not even 30.
He's that good.. that's wo

Yes dude! Jerry would have LOVED THIS!
Billy brings the best of many
That's the plan so fucking proud. That's my boys

Such a treasure
Billy had me at Dawg Music a few years ago, love the addition of the fiddle.

If you dig the Dawg, they played an excellent Key Signator the night before!

Absolutely fantastic!
Love this song! Billy and band, simply amazing!!
Thanks for sharing.. I truly needed this one love always your Sunshine 🔆🤘
My pleasure! I’m glad you got what you needed :)
Billy killing it as usual. I always loved Crooked Still's version of this one.
Fantastic!!
First hearing this ballad…moving…excellent performance as always BS!
One of my favorite tunes, sad I missed it this time but I'll keep trying to catch it live. 😉
You’ll get it one of these days!
Really Awesome,love it...
Never heard this before. Sweet! Trippy and well delivered. The interlacing melodies are simple but intricate in a way that are entrancing.

Awesome as always!
I always wanted to do a metal cover of this song. The lyrics are already pretty metal.......
Glorious absence of dobro ...oh well ( I play dobro etc...I'm 67)
Thank you Blake. This is a beautiful gift. Wonderful camera work. Nicely done.
You’re so welcome! I post frequently so subscribe if you’d like to see more :)
Beautiful song and rendition.
Best Murder Ballad ever!
The song that hooked me on Billy, and it's not even a Billy song.
This band’ll do that to ya!
Just played the Garcia/Grisman version...Billy definitely improves on it.
Jerry and grisman version is enchanting but NOTHING like Jerrys render on "almost acoustic"
🥰
Was this shot on a cell phone? The sound is really impressive.
Yes - iPhone 11 pro max. The acoustics in that room were fantastic!
Yeah it's amazing the quality of sound.
Me n Jarrod on the same team 🤘🏼
Does not get better.
Sure it does and will keep proving it
These boys can play anything!
Entrancing. Reaching for a Bowl...
Hard to beat some old songs for macabre content.
Much better version than the Jerry Garcia Acoustic Band
Jared walker spins too
thought it was gonna be the Twa Sisters for a hot secont
"He made a fiddle of her breastbone"
This song is definitely metal.
110% Metal 🤘
He apologized online to Jarrod for outing him for not smoking hippie lettuce. Well I’m with Jarrod. I don’t smoke that stuff either. I use edibles.

Billys voice is a lil young for this song....im not sayin its bad but its a different song bc of it
Not as good as Garcia / Grisman quartet but a pretty good copy
I want what Jared Walker once. this is the best version I have heard from you guys a damn good job
Hmmm I don't know if I could like or dislike your comment how come there's not a roll your eyes option
such a beautiful.. and totally non violent tune
