A couple of things to note: 1. The ux0 is the classification of your primary storage (games, videos, etc can be loaded from it), and the uma0 is the classification of your secondary storage (games, videos, etc can not be loaded from it.) 2. When you are setting up an sd2vita from a PS vita 1000, If you set it up with an official memory card, The ux0 should now be set to the sd2vita, and the uma0 should now be set to the official memory card. If there is no official memory card inside, a uma0 directory won't appear. If the uma0 is set to internal storage on a 1000 (The PS Vita 1000 does not have internal storage built in), a uma0 directory won't appear. 3. When you are setting up an sd2vita from a PS vita 2000, If you set it up with an official memory card, The ux0 should now be set to the sd2vita, and the uma0 should now be set to the official memory card. If there is no official memory card inside and you're going off the PS Vita 2000's internal storage, set the ux0 to sd2vita, and set the uma0 to internal storage. Sometimes, the uma0 will not appear if it is set to internal storage. The most important thing is that the ux0 is set up to your sd2vita and that the new amount of storage is displayed.
I have a 1000 and used my official memory card but when I'm in VitaShell I don't know from which directory I should move to which directory? On my console, in both directories there are already the same folders in both without me having moved anything (in your video in uma0 there aren't the same folders as in the ux0 but on my device there are). Hey nic 4:07 I just got the notification that my sd2vita was formatted but when I rebooted and checked devices I had a storage option. Any tips? I just watched your prior video on how to hack the vita and followed every step.
Hi there! I'm having this problem with the Sd2Vita... For some reason; when I reboot it after a while of not using it, it ask me to format the memory card to use it properly. It happened before with another SD card. How can I solve it? 🤔
Thank you so much! I'm new to PS Vita modding. Recently bought a sechand PS Vita and this tutorial really helps me to extend more games such as PSP/PS1 on Adrenaline. 😁
At 8:17 you explain that after reboot, "If you don't see 'Storage Devices' proceed to next step. But what do we do if after reboot, we still see 'Storage Devices'? I've used the VitaDeploy twice to reformat my SD2Vita, and upon rebooting I continue to see Storage Devices in Settings.
If you do see storage devices already, skip the step that you do to enable the storage device option in storage settings. You seeing it means YAMT was already set up before, and the step is not needed.
Thank you for you video, I really appreciate the work you did. Now that we have finished with the storage setup, now it the time for a proper vodeo game database and how to donwload them and put them in the SD2VITA.
Anyone new, this tutorial works perfect for me. I have a phat 1000 . If you have an error it’s likely to do with something in YOUR system. They said they’d post a troubleshooting guide so try searching for one. I only have one solution but it’s tedious, and it’s to uninstall homebrew and reinstall it again. But please only do this if nothing works anymore, for example your psvita homebrew is gone but hankaku is still installed. You lose your progress but any internal issues are fixed and you just handle it with care a second time. But again, try troubleshooting guides before choosing this option. It just worked for me with previous issues.
Hi Nic ty for all your videos. I have a question if you can please answer tyvm: I have a SD2Vita 256gb all good and running but can I take it out and play my collection of official game cartidges and then reinsert the SD2Vita back again without the Vita resetting the CFW or rebuilding the database?
Thank you for posting this video, your guide was very helpful, and will come in handy when my own sd2vita arrives in the mail. Nice to finally have an option bigger than 64 GB, those proprietary memory cards are frankly terrible. Your video is going to take a lot of guesswork out, and he's any fear I might have about my systems database suddenly being rebuilt. I, as of you were, hereby award you the highest honor I can bestow to you: my subscription.
Hey nic great video I have a brand new soul sacrifice limited edition psvita and I can't wait to use it. I believe I everything need to play I just need to expand the storage. My question is my vita is a 1000 version and already is jailbroken and has the app like vitashell, pkjg etc. My question is, do I need to keep the proprietary memory card inside the Vita while also putting in the SD card. Will the memory just get transferred over to the SD card or will I have to re-download all those things again once I have the new SD card in?
This was immensely helpful and well produced. Thank you for the excellent video. Unfortunately I keep getting an error at about 80% of copying Error 0x80010016. I'll try copying the folders individually and if that doesn't work maybe use FTP to move them to my PC first and then copy them to the correct folder. I expect it's a problem with my SD card or Vita card although I'm reading about issues with non-standard file name characters as well.
Hey awesome tutorials man. 🙏 What do we do when we DO see Storage Devices @3:52 I can never get that special menu. I also can't seem to get the option to copy the files in vitashell. Hoping for a response. Thanks again
Following this guide ended up ruining my Vita, but it might've just been an unfortunate coincidence though. Everything went perfectly until I got to the step of copying the ux0 to uma0. I kept getting an 0x80010005 error and it would not copy. Eventually all my homebrew apps just stopped working after multiple reboots. After trying a lot of things I eventually just restored my Vita, but when I go to format the official memory card I get an error that says C4-10278-8. From googling, apparently this means that the official memory card has died. Imagine that, right when I'm about to do a full backup of the card it just dies. I managed to at least get my save data via FTP but since I'm using a Vita 1000, I'll need to get a new memory card before I can do anything. EDIT: Was definitely the memory card. I found my original 4gb memory card, used that to re-install Henkaku. Now I took the extra step of setting up the internal memory card on my Vita 1000 so I'll never have to worry about Sony's awful unreliable memory cards ever again. All working now!
Mostly to future people: I had this issue but not to this tutorial. I had the problem of my system shutting off while downloading something to cause this. If this ever happens just remove home brew and install it again, there’s a tutorial on TH-cam it goes thru the same homebrew process. I thought my vita was done for but there’s a solution !!! (My psvita sd card was not broken!! Works till this day) This storage tutorial worked perfect for me despite having past issues with this. The tutorial is completely safe as long as your vita is normal. I have a vita 1000 as well.
Look up the sd2vita pro adapter 3.0, that one supports up to 512gb. having that much storage is kind of overkill though lol. I'm pretty happy with a 200gb micro sd card.
I have a quick question. I have some physical ps vita games I still like using. would I be able to still use these, or would i be stuck getting the digital copies from here on out?
You are sacrificing your cartridge slot when installing an SD2VITA. It's best to get the digital copies afterwards. It's a slight drawback, but still worth it
@@technic1109 The good news in this is that I wasn't completely truthful. I only have 1 game card (lego batman 3) and im not even sure I want it.... I was just thinking about games i actually wanted to get. 🤣🤣
Thanks, just subscribed! Question: can you setup a card to be swapped between a ps vita and a ps vita tv. I would like to play my games on both systems using the same saved data.
Well now that I'm done with my 1000 subscriber special video, this is something that I would like to test out myself actually. I have both a ps tv and a lot of ps vitas, so let me test this out for you some time today!
Hi tech nic thanks for this. Btw which one we should do 1st (for psv 2000). Upgrading the memory card or installing or hacking the ps vita? Thanks in advance!,
@technic1109 Thanks for the tutorial. One thing though - after the last step and going in to check everything out in VitaShell, the "umao" line had disappeared. Any suggestions about what I did wrong? (Vita 1000 model)
Hello! Thank you so much ! Works flawlessly. Quick question. What can I safely delete from the vita card as my 256 g s now primary.? Can I safely just empty the vita card?
Thank you for watching and i'm glad that it worked out for you! I always reccomend saving the original memory card as some kind of back up just in case!
Video was nice and simple. Very helpful. When I got done, I had more space for ux0, but I didn't see a uma0. I'm guessing that is the memory card Sony uses that goes in the bottom? I have the PS Vita 2000 and it has built-in memory. Not a lot, but enough to follow your video and get SD2 VITA set up.
if there's anyone trying to download ymat and you get the error code c2-1282-1, then you might have to get a new sd2vita adaptor (the threads saying your console may be bricked are old dont worry its not bricked). another sign it might be your sd2vita is if you go into settings after formatting and rebooting and the storage devices tab is still there.
One quick question! If I have a Sony official memory card and and SD2VITA after all of this can I take out the SD2VITA and put in a game cart to play games that I bought physically?
I would not recommend that. You basically would have to switch the ux0 back to the official memory card every time to do that, which could result in lost save files and other errors.
I have a 512gb memory card in my vita2sd, followed all steps from the start except the yamt one as I saw the storage device. I go on vitashell and the ux0 is showing 1.19gb??? Any ideas why
Hey man can you help me? I've been googling all day trying to figure this out. So everything works fine up to copying everything over and I keep getting a 0x80010016 error code in Vita Shell and it won't copy over all the files from the Vita Mem Card to the SD Card Any clue whats going on? It's a relatively new name brand 32GB SD card that used to be in my Switch
Hello I had the same issue, Ill copy the comment I posted on someone else's question Hey quick update, I didn't manage to find out what was wrong but I did manage to get past it by first updating back to 3.74, then formatting the ps mem card. Unfortunately it means you'll lose out on a lot of saved data, so if you want you can back it all up to your PC before you commit to this step, but frankly I just wanted it working. Yeah so I'm sorry but at least you can get it working again, and just can redownload the programs and games you once had later
Hi man, you have been really helpful so far, thanks! I have a question: As I bought a fake micro SD Card by accident. I would like to install a legit 128GB micro SD card in my SD2Vita instead. As I don’t have access to a windows pc, could I do it as followed. Or do I miss understand something (Jup, big rookie here). Important: I never changed something on my official memory card after jailbreaking the device and installing my SD2Vita as my ux0. So the initially copied files are still on there. 1. Switch in Storage devices - ux0 to Memory Card. Switch uma0 to SD2Vita. 2. Power up the system again. 3. Switch off the system again. Put the new legit SD card in the SD2Vita. 4. Format that new SD card via all the steps you used in the video and repeat the whole process. Please let me know if you think this is the correct way to do so. I’m aware I will loose all my games and safe games which are on my “old” fake SD card this way. But that’s fine. I just don’t wanna loose the essential files for my jailbreak to keep working on my system. Thanks in advance so much for helping out! ❤
I get off work in about 9 hours, and this kind of thing has been requested a lot, and a video is actually in the works for it already. Should be uploaded and ready by tonight!
uma0 folder doesn't show up. Did everything you said. Wtf? Update: ok i had to update Vitashell to 2.02 and I used Vitadeploy to download Vitashell. With Vitashell open I press triangle and try to mount uma0 and it asks to insert a USB cable. Seems good now.
No worries, and thank you for the update. I apologize because I do have to take in consideration that people are finding my other tutorials, but haven't installed custom firmware using my video, which is usually where the problems come up. Let me know if you have any other questions! I try to get back to people as soon as I can!
At this point in time, if you do not have an official memory card with more than 8gb of storage, I recommend getting an sd2vita and a micro SD card with at least 32gb of storage. That'll hold a good amount of games lol
What is the best way to transfer data such as games and save data from a PS Vita Memory card to a brand new SD2Vita. I have a 64GB Vita memory card and have backed up the games and save data to a PC using Content Manager. If I install a SD2Vita from scratch, can I use the Content Manager to transfer the games and save data back to that? Or can you do a full backup of the Vita card and restore to a SD2Vita?
In your case, I would download all save data from playstation plus, then go into your current ux0 directory, find the user folder, then the 00 folder, and you should see a save data folder. Ideally though, you want to copy all folders from the ux0 to the new micro SD card going in the sd2vita. Hope this helps!
Not unless you remove the SD2VITA, but I can not stress this enough. Do NOT remove the SD2VITA after you set it up. You would have to copy all of the contents of your SD2VITA to your Sony official memory card, which if you don't have enough storage, this can't be done. Then you have to switch the directories to the Sony memory card being the ux0 storage directory. After that, you would have to turn off your ps vita, remove the SD2VITA, and then you can put in your game cartridge. Once you set up an sd2vita, you are basically sacrificing the use of your game cartridge slot to have more storage, but the added benefit is you have more storage to download whatever game cartridge games you have again to have digital copies of them. Your save data should still be there for all your games. Hope this helps!
@@technic1109 Thanks for the info :) I already had my SD2VITA hooked up for awhile now but I was legitimately curious if there was a way back to using the cartridge slot. I've thought about using my Physical Copy of Labyrinth of Galleria but I guess I'll keep that for the PSTV.:)
@nickel7o740 No worries, and yeah that would be ideal. It's a nightmare losing all your data after messing with the SD2VITA, and I don't want anyone to experienced what I did back then lol
Hey, I followed your previous videos and while following this one step by step, I DID get the option menu of “storage devices” at 3:47 and also I didn’t have a power on/off option on screen when I held down my ps button. For reference I’m using vita 2000. I brainstormed the rest of the procedure on yt but I can’t see my uma0 folder in vita shell. Could I get some help?
Absolutely! So if you did it with a ps vita 2000 model, I'm assuming that you do not have an official memory card in the ps vita, and you installed custom firmware on the internal storage. If that I'd the case, check the storage size of the ux0. If it is the same storage size as what your sd2vita was intended, then no need to worry. The uma0 will not pop up unless you had an official memory card, and the set up has been complete. If this is not the case, then other things are needed to be done.
@@technic1109 thank you! I think the Cfw was installed correctly just worried if not being able to see uma0 was an issue or not. Also not sure why but adrenaline sometimes doesn’t run or leads me to a black screen so I have to boot it up a few times. Not sure why and sometimes running a PSP rom would freeze and I’d have to turn off adrenaline. Also had a few freezes on the vita earlier and had to hard reset with the power button. Any ways to fix things?
Been doing the same process but some reason once it downloads the file it doesn't show me the hensaki on the system menu. Also it keeps giving me and error once I download the unlock?? Any ideas why??
hey i ended up buying an entire new sd2vita and sd card and uma0 still isn’t popping up. i also noticed henkaku removes every time i reboot im not sure if that has anything to do with it
Yes it does. It means that you aren't on permanent custom firmware if the henkaku settings disappear after the reboot. I need a bit more information about your issue. It almost sounds like you don't have a memory card in your ps vita, and you have either a 1000 with no internal storage with a temporary install, or a PS Vita 2000/PS TV with a temporary install. Before we continue, can you please tell me what kind of ps vita you have, what official memory card you have (if any?) and what firmware that you're currently on?
Can you please do a complete documentary how to use retro art and explain how do you put if if you can't show where you find the BIOS then or get the ROMs at but can you show it where you put it inside your Vita shell and when you find the BIOS or cores they all say about how retro art how to do it but they don't show you where if you find these files where do you put them in side your Vita shell
Great video on this! I do have a quick question: If i have a PS TV and a Vita 1000 can I swap the SD2Vita between the two? I know not hacked the memory is locked to its device, was wondering if that is different being hacked.
please help I am trying to change my previous corrupted SD card to a new one ... how can I change it? will the homebrew apps get disappear if I unmount the corrupted sd card ?
A video on this will be uploaded tonight. I'm seeing this requested a lot! A PC is and isn't needed, but if you don't have a PC, this process may take a long time unfortunately.
Did you transfer everything from your ux0 to the uma0 before making the switch? Also, another thing you can do is refresh the live area in vitashell as well. Check out my "Understanding Vitashell in 2023" to learn how and more!
You technically do not if you have a PS Vita 2000 with the internal storage, just make sure that when you are setting it up, change the ur0 pathway to internal storage instead. I always recommend a 200gb micro sd card. they're fairly cheap, and a good enough size for a whole collection on the go!
Bro I have question. If I just Keep my sdvt2 as Umao And my memory card as Uxo. If i don't make them swap places. Will it be a problem when downloading games? I am planning on keeping my main memory card on my vita and don't plan on removing it. So when my memory card fills out then will the games be installed on the sdvt2?
If you plan on doing that, then there is no point in installing an SD2VITA unless you want the backup storage. The purpose if this is to turn the sd2vita into the ux0 (the main storage partition) and give you more storage space. The ux0 is the only partition that can have games loaded from it, which is why you make the sd2vita the ux0.
A couple of things to note:
1. The ux0 is the classification of your primary storage (games, videos, etc can be loaded from it), and the uma0 is the classification of your secondary storage (games, videos, etc can not be loaded from it.)
Hey does the sd card you linked work with the ps vita I was told only cards that are formatted in exfat work.
so does that mean if im using a ps vita 1000 i dont need to copy from ux0 to uma0 ?

I have a SD2Vita 256gb all good and running but can I take it out and play my collection of official game cartidges and then reinsert the SD2Vita back again without the Vita resetting the CFW or rebuilding the database?
If I have a 16gb sony memory card and I want to add a sd2vita adaptor with a memory card will the system recognize both?
This was immensely helpful and well produced. Thank you for the excellent video.
Unfortunately I keep getting an error at about 80% of copying Error 0x80010016. I'll try copying the folders individually and if that doesn't work maybe use FTP to move them to my PC first and then copy them to the correct folder. I expect it's a problem with my SD card or Vita card although I'm reading about issues with non-standard file name characters as well.
You're very Kind 😊
I'm very appreciative of your effort.👍
Thank you very much.😉
Love the music n great tutorial
I have CFW installed on ps memory card if i try and format SD2VITA will it try formatting the ps memory card ?
Hey awesome tutorials man. 🙏
What do we do when we DO see Storage Devices @3:52
I can never get that special menu.

I have a vita 1000 as well.
this video is the best tutroial i ever watch very good job
On amazon they say the SD2Vita cards only support up to 256gb is that true or can I use a bigger capacity
Thanks a lot, this was really helpful :)
@technic1109 were you able to figure this out
Can you use both the vita memory card and the sd2vita at the same time or do you have to choose
Hi tech nic thanks for this. Btw which one we should do 1st (for psv 2000). Upgrading the memory card or installing or hacking the ps vita? Thanks in advance!,
No problem, and thank you for watching! Hacking the PS Vita is first, and then installing the sd2vita is second.
@technic1109
Thanks for the tutorial. One thing though - after the last step and going in to check everything out in VitaShell, the "umao" line had disappeared. Any suggestions about what I did wrong? (Vita 1000 model)
If you removed the official sony memory card afterwards, that was the uma0
Hello! Thank you so much ! Works flawlessly. Quick question. What can I safely delete from the vita card as my 256 g s now primary.? Can I safely just empty the vita card?
Thank you for watching and i'm glad that it worked out for you! I always reccomend saving the original memory card as some kind of back up just in case!
thank you so much this worked a dream
!
Video was nice and simple. Very helpful. When I got done, I had more space for ux0, but I didn't see a uma0. I'm guessing that is the memory card Sony uses that goes in the bottom? I have the PS Vita 2000 and it has built-in memory. Not a lot, but enough to follow your video and get SD2 VITA set up.
if there's anyone trying to download ymat and you get the error code c2-1282-1, then you might have to get a new sd2vita adaptor (the threads saying your console may be bricked are old dont worry its not bricked). another sign it might be your sd2vita is if you go into settings after formatting and rebooting and the storage devices tab is still there.
any plans to do a video on setting up a psvsd?
For that one, I planned to, but my original WIFI/3G model is out of commission now unfortunately. Sorry about that
just want to ask if I want to take out the sd2vita card and change it for another game chip, do I not set the sd2vita to be the main storage device ?
No worries! I actually made a video on that. This will teach you how to do that.
th-cam.com/video/kDi8x7Z7nbM/w-d-xo.html
thank you for the video, I tried other vide but this one worked
Thanks alot, definitely subscribe! 😊
when i download a game in pkgj when its about to finish downloading, it says game cant be installed. I must've missed a step
One quick question! If I have a Sony official memory card and and SD2VITA after all of this can I take out the SD2VITA and put in a game cart to play games that I bought physically?
I would not recommend that. You basically would have to switch the ux0 back to the official memory card every time to do that, which could result in lost save files and other errors.
youre a legend man thank you
Good lookin gang real shit this was so helpful
Thanks for the guide❤ im gonna install so many games now🎉
thank you for the tutorial this helped me so much
Helooo i have a question, should i mod it first before doing this? Or after modding?
Thank you so much! Best guide ever.
thank u sooo much !!!1 u helped me a lot ez guides tooo appreciate it man.
This video really helped me man thanks :D
No problem, and i'm glad it helped you out!
Hi, at 7:40 when copying from the uxo , I selected all but there’s only 17 folders should I continue? The game folders missing
If you haven't downloaded any games, you're not going to have that folder yet.
It's ok to proceed
Thanks for confirming!
@@liyahmoree1401 No problem, and let me know if you have any more questions!
I have a 512gb memory card in my vita2sd, followed all steps from the start except the yamt one as I saw the storage device. I go on vitashell and the ux0 is showing 1.19gb??? Any ideas why
Hey man can you help me?
I've been googling all day trying to figure this out.
So everything works fine up to copying everything over and I keep getting a 0x80010016 error code in Vita Shell and it won't copy over all the files from the Vita Mem Card to the SD Card
Any clue whats going on? It's a relatively new name brand 32GB SD card that used to be in my Switch
Hello I had the same issue, Ill copy the comment I posted on someone else's question
Hey quick update, I didn't manage to find out what was wrong but I did manage to get past it by first updating back to 3.74, then formatting the ps mem card.
@@technic1109 You are a legend ❤️
uma0 folder doesn't show up.
So I got my PS Vita custom firmware installed as per the last video. All went well. I have PS Vita PCH-1004 so do I need to do the SD2VITA step?
At this point in time, if you do not have an official memory card with more than 8gb of storage, I recommend getting an sd2vita and a micro SD card with at least 32gb of storage. That'll hold a good amount of games lol
If I unplug the old SD and put the new on in, there's no vita deploy. What should I do
What is the best way to transfer data such as games and save data from a PS Vita Memory card to a brand new SD2Vita.
Can you use a physical copy game after switching out the SD2Vita? Or do you need to reconfigure the storage settings?
@@technic1109 Thanks for the info :)
I already had my SD2VITA hooked up for awhile now but I was legitimately curious if there was a way back to using the cartridge slot.
@@technic1109 totally agree, especially after how long it can take to download games on it.
Only dude that did it right, appreciate you bro❤️
Fantastic guide, now hitting to installing free games on your channel
Free "items".
No problem and I'm glad you liked the tutorial. Happy Hacking!
@@technic1109 I downloaded uncharted package from internet, how do I install?
@3:48 what if I DO see an option called Storage Devices? Do I just go ahead and skip to @7:00 and swap ux0 and uma0?
Thanks Mate, you made my day
No problem and thank you so much for watching!
How to get vita deploy without the vita recognizing the SD Card btw im using a adapter and a 128 gigabyte SanDisk Card the system softwere is on 3.74
Hey, I followed your previous videos and while following this one step by step, I DID get the option menu of “storage devices” at 3:47 and also I didn’t have a power on/off option on screen when I held down my ps button.
@@moizmalik2210 No worries, and happy hacking!
It's gonna give u issues and you're gonna have to rebuild your database over and over.
@@machoman2929 that's correct! I recommend never taking out the SD2VITA after you do this to avoid any kind of problems!
please help I am trying to change my previous corrupted SD card to a new one ... how can I change it? will the homebrew apps get disappear if I unmount the corrupted sd card ?
A video on this will be uploaded tonight. I'm seeing this requested a lot! A PC is and isn't needed, but if you don't have a PC, this process may take a long time unfortunately.
I do have a laptop. . thanks a lot for answering
@cherenkoroki5794 No worries! I'll try to get the video out at around 7pm PST!
very confused on what to do because i dont have a uma0
6:46 I can’t find any of my app or games after rebooting is there anyway I can get it back my vita is still running Henkaku and Yamt in settings
Did you transfer everything from your ux0 to the uma0 before making the switch? Also, another thing you can do is refresh the live area in vitashell as well. Check out my "Understanding Vitashell in 2023" to learn how and more!
When I format the storage device there is an error. Im so frustrated
The issue might be the micro sd card. either that, or try to reboot the ps vita and try again.
Quick, simple, no BS, worked no problem 👍
Question, do you have to have at least a Sony Playstation Micro SD card inserted in it? Also, any specs for any SD cards to use?
You technically do not if you have a PS Vita 2000 with the internal storage, just make sure that when you are setting it up, change the ur0 pathway to internal storage instead. I always recommend a 200gb micro sd card. they're fairly cheap, and a good enough size for a whole collection on the go!
@@technic1109 thank you for your answer! I forgot to mention that my ps vita model is 1000
@@dekavelentino5401 For a 1000, you definitely need some kind of an official Sony memory card
Bro I have question. If I just Keep my sdvt2 as Umao
And my memory card as Uxo.
Thanks alot for clearing this bro
@ismailali5892 no problem! If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask!
