I love the idea of Walker and Lowe as infield additions. 3 years seems acceptable for Walker, Lowe doesn't block anyone on an option year. The other move I would make would be a fireman to cover for Brash until he's ready.
How about coming up with a list of your top dozen realistic scenarios for upgrading the lineup? Then you could compare it with the moves that they actually make. Chances are, you might only get one or two, and maybe further down the list. Not that GM types are really going to be influenced by fans or media or podcasts. But, that's probably the reality for most teams.
The main thing they need to do is find a proper manager. Someone who can get our talented enough team (especially on the hitting side) to player to at least their normal levels. Too many players underperform here and then return to normal levels once they leave.
i think dan wilson did great when he took over. i want to see how this year goes for him. hopefully edgar martinez stays too because those two definitely straightened out the team a bit.
I love the content, but these numbers are starkly contrasting the projections The Athletic came out with this morning. Do those projections change anything for you?
I really think the offseason hinges on if they can package Haniger with a MLB player and prospects to bring back a bat. And as far as that goes Garver too. I like the idea of signing a big bat I just do not see the payroll jumping that much. A Westburg trade for Castillo (and prospects) would be ideal but it takes two to tango. I used to be so hopeful in a strong farm system but it doesn't win games. I like keeping Colt and Cole for the middle of the infield. Beyond that I think anyone should be up for trading. This is the first time in a long time we have not had to worry about the outfield which is a plus along with the starting rotation. Not a fan of the Nico idea with Dylan and Josh still on the roster and Cole in the near future. Rather get the 3B and 1B fixed through trade with maybe Yandy at 1B. Save money with Dylan, Josh, Bliss, and maybe Cole (midseason) to hold down 2B in a platoon role. Also, I don't see them trading or signing an expensive bullpen piece as each year they sign 2 or 3 of the scrap heap and make one of them work. It will be interesting to see who those will be. Brash probably can not get back fast enough and Santos will need to remain healthy if the Ms are going to get a jump beginning the season. Would like to hear the other options besides Westburg or Bohm for 3B. Maybe a trade for Arenado? Thanks for the content as usual.
I know this was an exercise in just maximizing your roster. So with that in mind I totally get where you’re coming from. That said, I think Ryan Bliss is your starting 2B this year. He’s done everything he can in the minors. He has enough up side that you can see what he will become at the MLB level. You have the most depth at 2B in your upcoming youth. And you won’t be able to afford 3B, 1B, AND 2B improvements.
Decent ideas but the trade valuations need some work imo. No idea why Cubs would do the Nico deal or Phillies would take 2 non tender potentials just for a prospect. Canzone/Hancock hold no value for Rogers. They would need much more.
Honest off season prediction. We’re going to trade about 7 prospects for Nico Hoerner, Yandy Diaz and Pete Fairbanks. We’ll sign 3-4 bargain bin relievers and 1-2 bargain bin hitters. Nico and Yandy are gonna be trash for at least the first 4 months of the season and Yandy will have an average second half while Nico has a career low season. 2 of the bin relievers and Fairbanks are gonna be good but both bin hitters will be trash. Finally we’ll end the season with an 86-76 record and miss the playoffs by 1 game. Please highlight this comment when it inevitably comes to fruition. Love you guys!!!
Dump Hanigar and eat his money. That money is gone, there’s no trade that makes sense and don’t try to get cute with a salary swap. He had 26 ABs for the final month. He’s eating a roster spot

That’s an WS caliber team all for 180mil
Move in LF center fence in is the first thing I would do in the off season

That skeleton in the back is every Mariners fan waiting for them to finally win something

I just don't see the Phillies parting with Bohm - a guy who just made his first All-Star Game, especially for that low of a package.
If bliss played full time at 2nd next year, what kind of stats do you think he’d put up?

are we not concerned with Hoerner’s surgery and how it could impact him going forward, similar to the Kim situation?
Mariners should go after Aj hinch should go for Marcus strowman and Nestor cortes and Marte from the diamondbacks
We all know this ownership ain’t doing anything let’s be real
The Mariners will do none of these moves and sign another washed player for 1yr $5 mil and say that’s all they could do.
You could have at least put **SPOILER ALERT** before you posted that!

2025 front office needs Joe and Colton
Phillies are not trading Bohm for prospects and relievers. Bohm is not overrated for 8 million.
