You are 100% with Max Fried. He has been linked to the Dodgers for a long time and he hangs out with them. Every year there are photos of him at Kershaw ‘s ping pong event at the stadium.
I mainly agree that Fried is looking at the Dodgers but I think the Red Sox have an outside chance because he's a childhood friend of Giolito and Gio already had him to Boston this off season. Gio also talked about them always wanting to play on the same MLB team together and the only way that happens is if Fried goes to the Red Sox. I think the Dodgers are still #1 but I do believe the Sox are #2.
I saw an article on Twitter today which said the Rangers were going to get rid of some salary to get under the luxury tax threshold. Fried to the Dodgers makes so much sense, especially looking at Jack Flaherty being there now, too. Both grew up as Dodgers fans, Flaherty says this is his dream come true, I'm sure it would be the same for Fried.
Soto is waaaaaaay overpriced. If he was an ace pitcher as well as a batter, and a better than half decent fielder, I'd say 600M would make sense. but he's a top line hitter and a half assed fielder. I wouldn't pay more than 450m for him, 10-years.
O's also, spend 20-30m on BP help increasing team yearly salary an additional 100 mill per season for next 6-10yrs. Still keeping yearly player cost under 225 mill per yr.
Don’t underestimate what Mets do this off-season. I can see them bringing Alonso and Manaea back, and signing Burnes. Trading for Bellinger after he opts in. And I see Padres trying for Fried. Adames goes to Dodgers, after Teoscar leaves. Edman will man CF.
Phillies could possibly trade for Luis Robert. And they will find a closer. Outside of that, not much they will do other than to internally get better.
As much as the Mariners need positions it wont be through signing anyone with a big contract. The only pitching will be bullpen help. Good job tearing up "The Paper Liar Insider".
With trout most likely going to DH we need everything except maybe bullpen add a little to the bullpen but with trout as DH we need all outfield we need a 1B with drury saying he's out we could maybe use a 2B. I like bellinger at CF for us if he wabts to come back home. We need to be active this winter to compete.
This is a weird thing to focus on but if ernie is the opening day 3rd baseman for the jays weve failed, he should be the first man off the benchif theres an injury but hes not a starter, I agree with jays not being in on Santander tho if they grab an outfielder it will be a guy who can play left (ideally ward imo)
I don’t get why the jays couldn’t sign Santander Soto or Suarez. They should be in on all 3 because they need bats at LF and 3rd, and it’s clear they will adapt their budget depending on the player. Maybe it’s not getting hopes up after last offseason and Ohtani but tried hard for Ohtani, he just choose another team
Just for clarity I’m not saying they will or won’t sign any big bats because it seems they have 50 mill to spend for a multiple of different players, but I wouldn’t write them off either
How can he use salary comps for a player of 6 yrs, $150 mil to 3 yrs, 42 mil? Those are two very different numbers. These are all just recent contract numbers being thrown around with no rhyme or reason behind them.
I certainly hope the Dodgers resign Teo (although I'm a bit worried they haven't by now tbh). I without a doubt they should bring Fried, they need some LHP and specially one like him who can go deep into games. As for Flaherty I'm not that sure, sometimes it seems like he doesn't feel all that at ease there, maybe he wants back in Detroit...
I could see Orioles going after Soto if they let Santander walk not saying it will happen just saying if ownership is telling the truth about spending why not try
@@guerillalou2312 I do, as a met fan soto would be silly to leave. But in what world can you actually make that happen. Gleybers money comes off yes but you have 30 mill dollar contracts everywhere

@angeldillemuthactor The Dodgers should not go after Burnes, Bieber, Manaea, or keep Buehler. The only "additions" the Dodgers should make are a shortstop and a lefty or two.
Do they even have any room to add more to their already high payroll for 2025? They’re projected at $288M with just their current roster. They have too many long term contracts already.

Sucks that my Cardinals are probably in for a rebuild. I hate waiting 😢
I will say if Mets convince Soto to come to Queens I think Pete to the Bronx is possible
You should have the age of the player there as well. That has to be one of the most important factors.

Yankees would only sign a starter if they make a blockbuster for a bat. Stroman/Cortes/one of the prospects are expendible.
Flaherty will be staying in LA, if they want him. It's his dream team.
