How to Setup Gravity Forms with Zapier 4 Add-On

  • The other day Zapier deprecated their gravity forms zap and I was no longer allowed to create any new zaps with their regular "webhooks". This new gravity forms zap requires REST API v2 to work. I'm going to walk you through how to authenticate your account to get this zap to work.
Note that if you have a multisite setting, you will have to do this to each and every single sub site.
I'm waiting to hear back but from what they're sounding like, they might keep any old zaps that are on the deprecated gravity forms. Fingers crossed, I'll keep everyone updated in the comments as I know more.
Here's a quick overview of the steps if you don't want to watch the video:
    1) Update to the latest Zapier add-on by downloading and re-installing it
    2) Go to Forms - Settings - REST API
    3) Select Enable API
    4) Add API key for API version 2
    5) Make sure to give it read/write access
    6) Try to reconnect with the newest version that asks for the consumer key and secret testing.
Here's a link to their walkthrough if it helps:
    docs.gravityfo...
    Some extras I've come across:
If you cannot connect to the REST API, there are multiple possibilities but one that I constantly run into is that the host (most likely godaddy) blocks the connection. You will need to contact whoever is hosting your website about this issue and let them know that they are blocking the connection.
Also if you're lucky and you already have an existing zap w/ the OLD gravity forms option, you most likely CAN still use this old webhook option.
If your gravity forms version doesn't let you use this, they do have a webhook add-on. So here are detailed options below if REST API doesn't work for you:
    1) If you have a zap w/ the old Gravity Forms option, duplicate this and change all the other settings
    2) If your gravity forms version lets you still use their zapier add-on w/ webhooks, you can use your old gravity forms zap OR the webhooks zap w/ the Request Method as GET and the Request Format as JSON.
    3) You can use the gravity forms webhook add-on w/ the zapier webhook option for your zap w/ the Request Method as GET and the Request Format as JSON.

Thank you for the video. I don't have a Wordpress website, can I still integrate zapier with gravity forms?

Gravity Forms is exclusively for Wordpress run websites unfortunately. However, Zapier has tons of apps it integrates with and you do not need to use a wordpress site to use Zapier

The problem I'm experiencing is this "We’re having trouble loading 'Form' data
The app returned "Sorry, you are not allowed to do that.".
" I'm trying to connect gravity form to Zap. It's still unsolve

Zapier said you’re not allowed to do that? Or Wordpress? Did you enable REST API, grab your keys and enter it in? I’m wondering where you are in the steps of the video

Also make sure to have filled out your form on your site so that you have at least 1 entry to test with

@@kstudiofx Thanks for the quick reply. Yes the REST API is enabled and I added the consumer keys in Zap and connect the gravity form. My problem is in the Set up trigger tab 3:21 whenever I click the choose value, there's No options available on the form tab.

That means you have no forms setup yet.

That's what was happening to me in the beginning. I contacted zapier support and it was a bug on their end. Make sure you let them know and they'll have it fixed asap

@@kstudiofx I did as instructed and all worked on the zapier end for my form on Google sheets, but when i tried to fill out the form online nothing went to google sheets...it just didn't connect...Why they got rid of web hooks is crazy, i'm so stuck!

    • @kstudiofx

Yeah I hate that they got rid of it too. Did you test the zap to make sure the test went through ok? and then after the test, did you turn it on? It’s silly I know, but I’ve forgotten to turn on the zap a few times. Also you can see your zap history and go back to it to see if some authentication went wrong.
