Obviously I haven't seen their program performed live yet but I really like how the music from the pit and the battery is so disconnected. At the beginning it almost feels like two separate shows that are trying to combine, to "Mend" the gap between them. I wonder if the visual book supports this theme. BCP always has this unique tone that no other group has ever pulled off, and it feels so effortless when they do it. Like seriously, this book is actually nuts considering how free-form it feels, with all of these distinct juxtaposed rhythms clashing against each other. That stuff is INSANELY hard to do, even disregarding that they have to get like 40+ members all synced up to this same idea. This show is good, I like it.
Yooooo, every year it feels like the writers “speak drum” Like it always feels like more than just, show beats, it feels like the ensemble is actually communicating through music, their writing just oozes tastefulness and expressiveness, and the players always seem to be able to convey and interpret that writing perfectly. This is why BC amazes me, not for their GE which is magnificent in its own right, not cause they’re partnered with Adam watts who is an amazing musician as well, not because roger seems to know how to get exactly the sounds he wants from these drums and players, but because the writing and execution of the music is just a masterclass in what I refer to as speaking drum. Sometimes other groups get close but nobody is as consistent with it as BC.
Indoor has come A LONG way since I last played in '04. Also, I haven't drums this "wet" in a minute. Seems like everyone is going for the "dryer" sound. Keep it up, guys! Loving it!
I managed to see this show in person twice when they came to the regional show in my state. I’m really upset that nobody will get to see it at WGI finals this year. Not very cash money
I can really appreciate the extra demand this more free form approach brings to the performance. Frankly, I find it refreshing that it's not just about cramming more notes into each measure.
@Samuel Nelson I think that shows with abstract concepts can be balanced out with music that flows and is satisfyingly written. Imo this year's and even last year's books are too disconnected and don't have enough conceptual justification to balance out the abstract writing. I believe that 2017 and 2018 had the best music, as it was unique but also satisfying and connected.
I know I say this a lot about BCP, (or maybe I don't but I think it a lot) I love how the pit is given a chance to shine: I always feel that the pit acts as an accompaniment to the drums in many ensembles, but here it feels like the opposite, not to mention the fact that their pit is insanely hype.
Thanks! Actually just used my iPhone on a tripod plus my handheld for the closeups. This was my first time really trying to do a multicam video. Content Creators like you and Quadlogix have made me want to put out better content. 😃
4 years later still one of my favorite snare breaks

OMG that attack at 2:39 was so clean!
Lol it was a slow tempo triplet rol on the down beat. Not the hardest of attacks
@@Salamitommy-d5m still, it was cold, and getting everyone to come in at exactly the time and have the same interp on the deccel is super difficult
holy crap, that lick at 3:46 is insane, literally amazing
I really like the transition at 0:34. And I loved the entire thing.
That was beautiful! BC is truly pushing the activity in naturally expressive writing and body
@Samuel Nelson So are you saying that if there was a context for the music/obvious story being told you'd enjoy it more?
@@samuelgreenberg9772 Sam I 10 out of 10 agree with you, but different people have different tastes in this activity.
@@randoboy7293 I totally get that. I just wanna understand where other Sam draws the line stylistically.

That snare break has me feeling wonky bro.

Man the writing is unique and awesome! Always pushing the boundaries!! Cant wait to see this live!!!
whos watching this in august wishing you go to see this in finals
Dynamic and musical. Nicely and artistically done.✅
Solid job on the multicam work! Guessing you have a GoPro on sticks and a handheld cam for closeups? Can't beat it!

@@rbass311 Nice! Your hard work is paying off and the quality really shows in your past few videos from this season!

That snare break 😩
That "Fuck man" at 4:26 is me every time I watch them play
3:48 Came back just for this
does anyone know what happened with bass 3?
iirc, old bass 2 got injured, Aaron moved up to 2 from 3 and then Eli was brought on to play 3.
rip matt
Rip 💔
faze rug at 1:33
dawg what mic did u use for this I love the punchieness of this
What’s the name of the snare on the left at 1:17 ?
Tommy Oshita
New bass 3?👁👄👁
I think the old bass 3 hurt his foot and was in and out of playing. That was his sub who eventually replaced him.
@@jimmywilliams8773 I heard he was better though like he made a full recovery
Wicked clean
the front ensemble!!!
This just makes me hate this damned virus that much more.
Song in beginning?
To begin again by Adam Watts
Is this only half the show?
3:41
I’m just going to comment so I can be the 69th comment. BCP is amazing though.
does ANYONE have FE footage?!?
2:38 2:54

Nope I think he ages out this season
