    Really impressed with Lexmoto, those guys are fantastic at seeking out the higher-quality items from the Chinese market. They're not trying to fool anyone in to thinking they're high end bikes either and instead ensure that their bikes come with great features as standard, like the heated grips. I do think they'd do well to start looking for a bit more performance however, the power to capacity ratio of their bikes always tends to be on the low side.

    The best selling point for me would be the weight. Anything below 150 kg wet is a very manageable weight, especially if you are going to tour with luggage. There is nothing worse than being over 200 kg on a smallish bike or scooter. It's fine once you are moving but sometimes a nightmare to wheel around, park or manhandle. In this regard the Lexmoto is a better option than the over-priced Honda Forzas, Suzuki Burgman 400, and Yamaha equivalents which are way too heavy. Here's hoping the Aura 300 is more reliable than other Lexmotos which so far have been pretty unreliable.

  • @nfinnigan
    @nfinnigan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Things you should always look at when buying a new bike: Service intervals and costs. This is a major drawback for Lexmoto, 1st service due 6 weeks then every 4 months. That means the bike will require 7 services over 2 years to keep your warranty. If you get a Honda 350 the scooter service is every 8000 miles or 12 months and will keep the resale value high compared to the Lexmoto. So what you think is a cheap bike to start will might not be such a bargain after a couple of years. Royal Enfield does the same, sell bikes at a low cost, but then gets your money back on service intervals being short.

    • @richardpearce4521
      @richardpearce4521 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Servicing is every 3000 miles or annually not every 4 months unless you're doing 12000 miles a year on your bike. Agreed, that is a short schedule but anyone semi competent with a set of spanners should be able to service it themselves, just keep the receipts for the parts and use genuine lexmoto ones and your warranty will not be affected. I had RE Interceptor and did all the servicing myself. The dealer tried to say I'd invalidated the warranty until I pointed out the EU Block Exemption regulations, he tried to laugh it off by saying "what are you a lawyer" after bare faced lying to me! There is always the matter of competency but the dealer would have to show that incompetence or failure to maintain has caused any fault that you were claiming under warranty for. So if the seat started to come apart that would have to be replaced under warranty regardless of who serviced it or even if it had been serviced at all. The untrue threat of if it's not dealer serviced your warranty will be voided should not put you off buying because of the low mileage service intervals.

    • @nfinnigan
      @nfinnigan 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@richardpearce4521 Hi Richard, many thanks for your info on the service intervals, that's more appealing than what I though it was, I done a google search on this and that's what it came up with, but if you say is what the recommended service interval are, I might purchase one. I have also enquired about this to my 2 local dealers and Lexmoto customer services, and none have got back to me, Mmmm, I don't like when I don't get a reply, especially when you are a potential customer, or should I not ask such questions ! maybe they don't want you to find out before your purchase, only after.

    • @richardpearce4521
      @richardpearce4521 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nfinnigan Hi Nick, you're dead right they don't want you to know, as I said even to the point they'll lie about it. The mark up on these machines is pretty low to make them uber competitive against the Japanese rivals, the dealers make their cash on servicing, which to be fair isn't often much more than a check over and oil change, probably £25 for the oil and the rest of the £150 + is just 1 hour labour kerrrrrching!

    Just an update on my situation. The bike is currently still back with the dealer, I've ridden about 100 miles on it since purchasing it and has let me down twice in that time. The key fob battery appeared dead but when I put it on a multimeter it read 2.97 volts and worked in another key fob that took the same battery? The dealer could not get the override function that is clearly described in the manual to work and they were told by Lexmoto that this function isn't available on uk bikes (despite the section in the manual describing how to start it in the event of a dead key fob battery) So according to Lexmoto if the battery in your fob fails there is no way of starting the bike, they claim this is common on keyless entry bikes, I've yet to find another manufacturer that doesn't have an emergency start procedure. I've challenged Lex to give me evidence of another bike (or car) that doesn't have the ability to start in the event of battery failure in the key fob. I await their reply! So it's worth noting that if you are intending to buy this bike you would need to carry spare key fob batteries and a couple of mini screwdrivers, plus probably a torch in your jacket whenever you ride as you can't open the seat without a working battery in the keyfob (according to Lex). It's also worth noting that the key fob comes apart into about 6 different parts when replacing the battery including a micro screw, wouldn't be a lot of fun trying to replace that on a windy wet winter's evening stuck in a car park somewhere, even if you did have the required emergency back up kit of batteries and screwdrivers in your pocket!

    • @captainlockheed
      @captainlockheed 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      To complicated for their own good and I can tell you after owning two Chinese bikes the actual bike battery the one that starts the bike is crap, and you might as well chuck it in the bin on day one I replaced both with MotoBatt no more problems, the Keyfob I have a Zontes 310 ADV and yes I do carry two spare fob batteries! although they are easy to change with the small flat blade screwdriver on my leatherman, running before you can walk comes to mind and they should have stuck with the old standard key ignition idea, but they are all at it now!!

      @@blaineker4403 Lexmoto eventually agreed that the emergency function was available on UK bikes, surprise surprise, but it took them a while to fess up, bit dissapointing they, a. Didn't seem to know much about the bike and b. where happy to blag it when they didn’t know! However all seems OK now, they do seem to have a bit of a reset problem, been on a Lexmoto fb page where identical issues to mine has been reported. The bikes seem to need a few turn it off turn it on again type senarios to reset their fuddled brains! I've done 500 miles now with no recurring issues so I'm hoping it was just a blip. I'm still running it in so have been riding it carefully so not sure on top speed or exceleration performance on a run in bike. I've come from riding large capacity motorcycles so the performance will always seem tame compared to them but it does everything fine. I've been up to 60 at 6000 rpm and it'll trundle along quite nicely at that with 2000 rpm still on the clock and you can beat 95% of the cars on the road at the traffic light gran prix. I am putting a larger screen on it as I do get quite a lot of buffering over 50 and a top box as the undersea storage isn't great and won't even take an open face helmet. It is a small bike and does look like a 125 so you do seem to get overtaken a lot unnecessarily, as cars assume you're going flat out at 50. It seems quite well put together and for the price has some good features, I also like how light it is only 145kg wet compared to other 300s which are nearer or over 200kgs. Would I recommend it? Features and performance for a commuter, yes, quality and longevity, time will tell on that one, I might do a one year one you tube video that one!

    Thanks for the review Mark.
    The Lexmoto looks great and is a great value price but I have seen some horror stories from owners about build quality and dealer support.
    Because of this the resale value is likely to plummet quickly.
    Looks to me as though they are a good short term option for a learner driver on a 125 cc who will quickly move on to better quality bigger bikes after passing their driving test.
    It's a shame and I hope that Lexmoto can sort out these problems because if they can they can expect to be a popular and successful choice for riders of all ages.

    Having bought a Kymco on Saturday and it broke down on the Sunday I must urge people if they are going to buy a scooter or bike of any capacity to somehow find the extra and buy Japanese. Or a pedal cycle, or find a job closer to home so you continue to afford to commute by car. These machines are cheap for a reason, so don't make the mistake I did.You buy cheap you pay twice and they shouldn't even be considered a viable alternative to s Japanese machine and I think Motovloggers ,wannabee Clarkson's and any other tyre kicking freeloaders that haunt the powered two wheeler domain of YT need to think carefully about the sort of machine they might be influcing people to part with hard earned cash with.

    I was expecting this scooter to be a ponderous alternative to forza 350s and the Yamaha xmaz equivalents - but it looks way more interesting that that. Fairly light, compact for a feet forward, and while incredibly understressed for a 300, just enough go to cruise at 70. Seems like a decent medium distance commuter (me - 50-55 miles each way on v busy motorway plus dash to central London) rather than the usual midi/maxi scooter attempt to be a light tourer.
    And the number of lexmoto outlets seems to have increased a lot since last I looked - might be a cheapish Chinese machine, but they appear to have caught up and that price is attractive.

    Motor looks a cloned Vespa Job ,so should be worth a punt at the right price . The would of been better spending the money in other areas , no need for keyless gimmickry on a budget scoot ,to plod about on . Just an unnecessary potential thing to play up ,the less gimmicks the less to go wrong & leave you at the side of the road . Having said that Lexmoto now seem to be sourcing better price point models from the Chinese factory’s to import with their logo . This will also mean the bikes getting nearer to the big brand prices ,now they have to pass Euro 5 directives .

I currently have a 2021 Forza 300 and although it's a great Scoot the build quality is poor for what is supposed to be a premium Scooter, had loads of issues with it. So looking at alternatives, in your opinion does the Aura 300 have touring capacity? You said that at 70mph it was pulling 7000rpm (same as the Forza), can you remember what the red line on the tacho was? Impressive for the money and looks good as well with some nice touches eg heated grips and tyre pressure monitoring, in them selves not expensive so why don’t more bikes have them? Just one “concern”, the engine and drive train appear to be cloned from Piaggio as per Royal Alloy (is it licensed or is it cloned?), even the cc at 278 is the same as the Vespa GTS300. If it’s licensed then that’s a good thing and a great motor, if it’s cloned (🤔) that’s not good, think Voge and Honda CB500. It certainly appears to be the same motor, drive train and water pump, one wonders if Royal Alloy and Lexmoto are sharing? For the punter cloning may appear good news price wise but for long term investment and design / manufacturing it’s not so good news. Great scooter and it would be interesting to know the origin and license status of the motor.

    In the Philippines it's got a 175cc engine and is called the RUSI RFI 175. A very cheap and fairly reliable (only if well-taken cared for especially the electronic bits) it costs around P90,000 or $1,750 USD. It has quite the looks but quality is a hit or miss.

    The lower priced Lexmoto motorcycles are really good motorcycles but they are built to a budget.
    The Aura 300 costs £3899.00 + OTR. With the Lexmoto Aura 300 being almost twice the price of the cheapest Lexmoto, is this one built to a higher level of quality?

    • @markpulling12
      @markpulling12  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Michael yes these are nicer build quality than the cheaper lexmotos I'd say but generally you always pay more as the cc s increase for some reason must be extra tech and equipment... cheers mark

    Picking mine up today, considered the Honda but couldn't justify the extra £2.5k for essentially a commuter. The Honda felt big and heavy compared to this as well. I'll do my own servicing so not worried about intervals, I'll keep it for its warranty period and if it proves to be rubbish I'll get a Honda, time will tell.

      Hi Mark, update. Didn't pick the bike up on the day as it had a fault! Picked it up 2 days later got in home fine. Next day wouldn't start, key Didn't seem to be recognised. Went back they also couldn't start it, then suddenly it sprung back to life. I was getting nervous by this stage. Came back yesterday, went to work on it today, this evening key didn't work, had to get recovery home. Other key did work, changed the battery in the one that failed still didn't work. Now got zero faith in it so I'm giving it back and will get the Honda. Haven't spoken to the dealer yet see what their reaction is but luckily the laws on my side. So sadly have to report mine was a load of junk.

      @@markpulling12 On a TH-cam video I watched the Honda Forza 350 0-60 time is about 7 seconds, that has a 28bhp engine to 184kg.

    It is a 278, not a 300. I think it should state it's a 278, or maybe a 275, and no more. Its weight and price are its main selling points. I'm sure it will be reliable, too. What size are the wheels? They look like 12''. I don't like being on less than 14'' ones.
    Right, up to 7-Eleven n ow on my Yamaha Aerox 155 scooter.
