I love your quilt! I think this might be one of my next quilts! I like the contrasting mountains! I made a tube quilt several years ago. Mine was color, white, color for the top and white, color, white for the bottom strip! I loved the quilt. My colors were coordinating and looked pretty with the white. I think my blocks wound up about 12 inches. My quilt was for a full size bed. The recipient is still using it! My idea came from Jenny Doan.

I made a tube quilt top when beginning and it was small so I added a double mitred border. It is beautiful but since I pressed the seams open I don’t know how to quilt it on my little domestic machine as it will need to be quite dense and I cannot afford to get it long armed. It is very expensive here. One day I will sort it out. I no longer press seams open so I can quilt myself.

I've made at least 2 tube quilts. One was the Summer in the Park pattern by Missouri Star, and the other was made with just one jelly roll -- no background fabric. They were both arranged as squares on point, but you are right, there are so many different options. I would make one again.

Hi Michelle, I've made probably 20+ tube sets. I do enjoy the quick sew. Most were throw sizes for tween age girls, however I've made two recently that used 3.5" cuts for two young ladies. I used fat quarter bundle, and I do starch all the precuts. BTW , All fabric shrink from the width of grain. It's important to me especially when we have triangles. I did invest in the strip tube ruler way back when, but I am glad to see you didn't have to go buy one. Use what we have, right? Have fun.

I have never seen a tube quilt. I don’t like to use jelly rolls because the 2.5-inch height is often inconsistent and prints with a noticeable width of fabrics “stripe” tend to have that striped pattern running uphill or downhill. I’m a quilter who fussy cuts larger pieces of fabric to get the pattern straight. When possible I cut strips using length of the fabric pieces to get a straight print.

I made a tube quilt last year and made the triangles into diamonds by using the opposite colored triangles out of the same strip. I thought is was going to look AMAZING….IT DIDNT, it’s probably one of the ugliest quilts I’ve made. But I’m going to try another, because it worked up fast and its a way to use up some of my jelly rolls I’ve been hoarding!
