What about that pedal you showed not too long ago... The one that doesn't react to other pedals that follow it in the chain? That boutique pedal that boosts. That's a great prep I do want to buy.
Finally someone showing off some power chords/pop punk. Its annoying that these pedal reviews never show off cool sounds that you can get with just power chords
Mudcake! Agree about the Carcosa. It’s crazy good. And the Spark too. Looking forward to November and your giveaway. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for winning the ACTone. Carl Martin makes such good stuff.
Mojomojo sounds massive when dialed in right. It was my first OD and I had the choice between it and a SD-1 or a TS-9. Glad I picked it back when I knew much less than I do now. All I knew is that it had more balls than the others. And my wife thought so too ;) Great demo!
What it really comes down to is taking the time to learn how a piece of gear works. That Mojomojo can sound like many other pedals when dialed in right. Spending time with it is essential to getting the tone you want.
I can wouch for Hot tubes and Mojomojo - what great pedals these are! Especially for thickening the strats and telecasters with vintage pickups that tend to lack at the lower midrange frequencies.
Instantly clicked on like before i even watch your videos! I knew its gonna be so good with your playing man! You're one of the reason I got into pedal! Hopefully can play like you someday! Master of tones🔥😍
Thank you for the kind words. I'm glad I piqued your interest in pedals. They are fun, sound great and have a lot of practical uses. Do you have any favorites pedals?
Really like the EHX Green Russian muff too, and EHX Glove (OCD style), Not tried them all, but completely with you on the RAT, ODR-mini, EHX Hot Tubes, MojoMojo, Spark and Hammertone. For super cheap, I love TC Cinders (even cheaper bargain bucket take on BD-2, but sounds the same). And Caline Blue sky (MXR Timmy style), and Behringer SF fuzz. Those are the three I'd probably recommend to a beginner starting out with a small budget, maybe with the FS-03 / FS-02 reverb / delay. Or maybe a TC Bucket Brigade with something like a Vox Pathfinder 15R.
@@TheToneLoungeNot sure if it happens for you, but does your Caline Pure Sky make bit of noise, if it's not running on battery? Mine does, but could be my setup. Going to try an isolated power supply to see if that fixes it. It depends, but I think the Boss BD-2 can be got for $100; which is great for something that sounds ace and is built like a tank. The Mooer Yellow Comp and TC Electronic Bucket Brigade, and Spark are great too. The Mooer chorus too is very nice. And Donner Yellow Fall sounds good too.
Sticky toffee pudding with plenty of custard! I’m sitting here trying to think of another pedal or pedal type that could have made the list and I’m really struggling. Great job and great playing as ever!
This is a great list- most of them I knew about, but some I didn't- and a few I had just forgotten. The Carl Martin pedals both sounded fantastic, I had seen them and thought about it but I had never heard them- or I would've already scooped them up. Never heard of the Empress Fuzz- but it sounded really good. And I had forgotten about the Hot Tubes, I played one once and swore I would get one for myself- then forgot all about it. I probably came home and watched a pedal show on TH-cam and ended up chasing something I saw or heard about and just forgot about it- for some reason that pedal makes me want to play old Springsteen, Rolling Stones, "Americana" tunes I think they call it now. It's just rock and roll baby- but I like it.
The Hot Tubes and the Red Llama are very similar. They do the Tweed thing really well, and can both get fuzzy too. The Empress Effects fuzz is excellent. I would put it in the same league as the DOD Carcosa. It can do slight gain to all out crazy fuzz.
Total agree, the last Dod pedals are amazing: Looking glass (Timmy alike), Carcosa (very versatile fuzz, even Velcro fuzz) and Boneshaker (distortion w/ 3 band parametric EQ).
You know about the BSM HS-C treble booster with a Vox rite??? Based on the TB Ritchie Blackmore ran into his AC30 for Deep Purple. I got one for just over $100 used. It's absolutley INSANE with an AC15C1!!! That pedal is so good with a Vox it should be illegal and punishable by death to the gonads. Legitimatly most fun I've had in my life without waking up in a Hospital or on a park bench in a town I didn't know existed.
Carrot cake, terrific video man, I use the spark tc electronic as a solo boost best £50 I ever spent as can be used as an od pedal as u demoed, I used to own the original carl martin plexitone and loved it should never have got rid of it and kept the SL drive by exotic which I think is inferior to the carl martin, great tones especially from that cv squire stratocaster 🤘
Yeah, the Spark is seen on many boards, yet people don't talk about it too much. I'm curious to why that is. The Plexitone is indeed different to the SL Drive. The SL Drive is great, but has a bit too much gain on tap.
Thank you! the way you play it and in the context of the video almost turns it into an entire new song, like a more heavy somber version. gonna go learn it now, I like that band too.@@TheToneLounge

More brilliant demos my man. I've played many gigs with my trusty Plexitone and I'm glad to see it well represented here. Spotted Dick and custard (it's a British thing....not an insult)

The Hagerman EF86, that pedal sure is something and so is your video on it.
@@Aint1S yeah it is. It's not in this list as it is over $200.

I'm not much of a lead player, so instead of playing nonsensical noodling, I'd rather play what I can actually play, which is rhythm guitar. ;)
Wow that Epiphone sounded fantastic with the Diva & Plexitone! That guitar is a gem
It's a good $250 investment 😉
I just went and bought and RAT and Hot Tubes recently. Amazing boxes.
Both great choices.
Mudcake!

So excited for my T. Rex to get here! Nice vid
Did you get it yet?
@@TheToneLounge yeah! it's built so well, and flexible for any guitar/amp setup

Totally agree! That's what these two pedals seem to excel at. Especially with weaker output pickups like on a Strat.
The ODR-mini sounds very impressive. Thanks for this good comparison.
My pleasure! The ODR-Mini is very good, although it is a bit bass-heavy.
Thank you for this. I love your playing and your tones. I have a Vox AC10C and just ordered the Diva Drive. You made me feel excited to receive it!
Oh that's awesome! I'm confident that you will enjoy it. I ain't parting with mine. It is such a great pedal.
Chocolate Mousse! Awesome vid and kiiler list. My favorite is the Boss BD-2, it's hard to beat. Cheers!
It's really a great pedal. It's the first BOSS pedal that I really wanted to get.

The plexitone deserves some love! Go Carl! All are great. You don't put up no junk...lol
They are one of the best companies around. I love everything they do.
Great demos, as always. Sticky toffee pudding.... It's another Brit thing. If you're ever over here, try it! 🙂
Oh, that's good to know as I do intend to go down that way. Here hear that the city of Bath is really beautiful. I might try there first.

It's almost as much Vox laden fun as the Hot Cake but nothing beats the cake imho.
No, I had not heard of that Treble Booster. Thanks for the tip, I will go look it up.
The Hot Cake is indeed a Classic with these amps, for a good reason.
Pecan Pie...The MojoMojo IS Highly misunderstood. Killer!
It sure is. Many say that it isn't very good, and that is true if you use it wrong. Once you find what it is good at, it's a great pedal.
Carl Martin Plexitone and the RAT both sound great!
They are really good pedals. I'm giving that Plexitone away in November.
Like the Spark Booster 👍
I love it. For the price that it goes for new, I should have bought one a long time ago.
Even better than Xotic RC for the price

Mojo Mojo can make a clean combo amp sound like a full stack. Yup, you just need to dial in.
Absolutely! Taking time with a piece of gear is crucial.
2:45 Carl Martin Plexitone low gain - what song is that???
Work by Jimmy Eat World

Always tempted by that Carcosa … and really good chocolate cake
Both are great. Get both!
Carlos Santana has always had the tone I like. I refer to it as creamy dirt.
Hi I have a Marshall DSL 20 combo with a Greenback, I have a Boss BD-2 and I'm thinking to buy a Proco Rat 2 for stack them.
I think that would be a killer stacking option with your amp. Rat pedals sound incredible with a Marshall.
Something happened to the carcosa. Now It retails at 150 $ on sweetwater.
Oh jeez, that's like double what I paid for it. It's still a great pedal at this price tough.
What did you use to record the vox with in this video?
A Two Notes Captor 16 with Celestion's SpeakerMix Pro (Greenback DSR)
Thanks, you should do an in depth video on how to do this as there's barley anything on youtube related to the captor and the ac15 👍
I'll see about that. I have a few ideas.
I have an ODR mini and the footswitche is terrible feeling.. Is it like this on all of them??
I can't say for sure. Mine was alright, though.
thanks for the content

ı really like hottubes and mojo mojo
Carrot cake is my favourite, I have it each year on my birthday!
Edit: haha, funny that your favourite is the same, Jonathan!
