My F100 is great on batteries, even when not shooting. I'd service your battery compartment, check for corrosion, and if needed get a new battery holder/door unit (Nikon MS-12). They are about $20 bucks on B and H. That might fix your issue honestly. Thanks for sharing!

That’s a great idea! Thanks for the model number that will definitely come in handy - I’m pretty sure you’re right that it has something to do with the battery compartment

Just coming across your channel now. Sad to see there’s no videos from 2 years, you do a great job. Subbing anyway

I love the F100. I have one for black & white film and another one for color film.

getting mine with a grip tomorrow :D i'm excited, first time shooting film for me, I'm switching schools and going to study photography after the holidays and I needed a film camera for that so I went with a barely used F100 + grip for €250 so i think I got a very good deal (imo)

I also have an f100 and I really like it a lot. Looking to get a Nikon f6 soon because Id like to shoot all my paid non event style photoshoots on film. I also just picked up a Mamiya 645 af and that's a super great camera. Autofocus 2.8 medium format glass is great. I'd recommend that over the big 6x7 cameras because it's just so much more versatile.

I have an F100 and like others have said, no issue with battery consumption. I have too many other film cameras to list but will say my favorite 35mm camera is the Nikon FM3a and my favorite medium format camera is the Hasselblad 500CM. I enjoyed this video. Thank you. 🙏🏽

I got a f100 just over a month ago on Ebay from Japan but I've no problem with battery life ok the first film is still in it but I must have dry fired well over 300 shots making sure everything was working shutter, meter, autofocus ect and the battery life is still showing full power with Energizer max plus.

    • @jwescophotography8182
      @jwescophotography8182  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yeah I don’t really have problem with the battery while shooting, it just seems to burn a lot of battery while I’m NOT using it.
Maybe there’s something wrong with the contacts on the battery slot 🤷🏽‍♂️ hard to tell with these old cameras. Haha

@@jwescophotography8182 nothing went through battery's quicker than my old minolta 7xi and 2cr5's aren't cheap. It might be a bad connection, the battery holder or even a brand of battery's the camera doesn't like lol and even user error, my old Nikon D7100 went through a phase when the battery's would die quickly and I released I was accidentally turning on the camera when I put it away in my camera bag and hadn't noticed it, it is annoying and it could be anything even something simple.

I’ve had this camera for a few years, love it. The back door latch just broke on me and it’s almost impossible to find a replacement. Help is appreciated! For now it’ll just be taped shut 🤷🏻‍♂️

You can purchase a spare back door from eBay. I purchased two. They are quite cheap.

Had an f6. Downgraded to f100 because l needed money… l miss the f6 it felt sturdier than the f100 l currently own. The f6 film compartment oxidized after leaving the camera loaded with film and unused for 4 month in my car, my mistake l guess. Nevertheless this misshaped made me realize that the f6 will not last forever and l should think of using something cheaper and more disposable because they all eventually end up as paperweight anyway…

Nice video. OUCH! though don't turn the focussing ring on an AFD lens unless you've got it in manual focus its not good fo the lens and gearing. AA batteries - get some Eneloop rechargeables... great batteries and they don't drain much when not in use / stored - you might have better results with those. MF wise - P67 is great - I had one but you've got to really want/need that negative size. Film prices going up and and you are chugging a hell of a weighty camera around. I got sick of it and I sold mine and got a Pentax 645n instead great camera again - but without that big neg / 67 factor more and more I just go back the camera I enjoy carrying... the F100.

  • @TrainMan69

The comment you made about the F100 eating batteries is not true...well at least for me. I have two F100's and have had no problems with the batteries. As a matter of fact I have left my batteries in the camera for weeks at a time...no problems.

@@jwescophotography8182 yeah something is up with you camera. The worst problem I ever had with the F100 and batteries is that batteries were too low to rewind the film one time. Other than that no problems.

I had this film camera. I can hardly say "my favorite" because I never had another 35 mm SLR with which I could compare it.
Suffice it to say that the Nikon F100 camera was surely a hell of a lot of camera for the money spent.
If not for the explosion of digital camera in recent decades, I would never have sold this camera.
I also had a Mamiya 6 medium format film camera which I used in place of the Nikon F100 in situations when it made no sense to use a 35 mm camera.
