Thanks for posting your videos. They are very helpful to relatively new players like us!

1:41 I think the first serve may have been out. Val, its you job to watch for that. The player returning serve cant always see that. Plus you should be watching to see if your partner is going to make an effective 2nd shot drop or drive.

I notice that Chris and Val aren't keeping their paddle in a ready position, which would help them at the kitchen. Chris looks to be using a J2K paddle. He might want to try adding a little weight at the 4&8 position of the paddle. Check the John Kew J2K review.

I think something went wrong with the editing of this video. Several times you are talking, and then it abruptly cuts off.

Yeah they all seemed like 3.0 players. Good knowledge of what they should do, sometimes able to do it. Some good reaction defense shots too.

I am currently in Thailand and have been playing in a 2.0 to 2.9 social group due to injuries and other health problems. The disparity of classification between the US (and Mexico where I live (but all the players are from the US and Canada)) is shocking. Almost all of the players are at least 3.25 and go up to 4.0+. I played in a group of 3.0 to 3.5 group for a bit and got my arse kicked. Granted the players were prepping for a tournament but still, the difference in how the players rate themselves in Thailand and the US is big. I don’t know if the Asian players are under-rating themselves or the US players are over-rating themselves but it has been an eye opener for me. I hear the players in Vietnam are crazy good. I expect to see a lot of competition coming in when there are more international tournaments and when pball becomes an Olympic sport.

Can't really tell by watching, but Chris probably pops the ball up a lot because he allows himself to get tense and holds his grip too tight. A lot of newbies get this way as the closer to the net they are the game gets quick and exciting. I think he just needs to calm his nerves, be less reactionary, and learn to direct the flow and pace of rallies. But this comes in time.

That's very good advice for a beginner. Thanks for posting.

My assumption is that these players simply haven't studied the game, havent drilled enough and they simply don't know what to do in certain situations.at this game things are sloppy and points aren't well constructed. Also the last point he called her to take that was one hundred percent his ball to take.

Good observation. This is very common of what you see at the 2.5 level. Mostly players buying a paddle and hitting the courts without learning the nuances of the game, court position and fundamentals. Most are just happy with getting the ball over the net and into the court most of the time. I do think Chris and Val are better than that.

Just letting you know Rory, there were a lot of cuts in your editing that cut off your dialogue during this video.

I just found out. Thanks for letting me know. It must have had an issue when I uploaded it. It's too late to fix it. I do appreciate you watching.
