Temple of Doom is a "prequel" of Raiders. Mola Ram character it´s played by Amrish Puri, who was a well known indian actor who passed away in 2005. For me, the perfect description of this movie is... "Darth Indiana". A great original trilogy, being "The last crusade" my favourite. The OST, by John Williams of course, reminds me ALWAYS to Star Wars, specially dark side themes like "battle of the heroes" or "duel of the fates", in the darkest scenes.

36:59 that honestly looked like a blooper that they left in a movie. Indy swings when this guy is already gone and it looks like he just started laughing because of it

Three quick things you missed/seemed to miss in the airport scene ( 5:58 )
    1. Lao Che was literally written on the door of the plane (you guessed he knew the pilots, so maybe I'm wrong) Edit: I'm pretty sure I was wrong, it just came across strangely to me
    2. The club in the background is named Obi Wan
    3. Dan Ackroyd cameo

    Raiders was set in 1936
Temple of Doom was a prequel, set in 1935 (hence no Marion, she was still in Nepal at this time...)
Last Crusade was set in 1938
    Crystal Skull was in 1957
And I have no clue about any film called "Dial of Destiny," doesn't exist in my dojo...

Ke hu quan got the oscar for everything everywhere all at once! he is amazing in it! and in his speech when he got the golden globe he broken down crying and thanking first steven spielberg who he pointed to and he bowed his head and Ke explained how he hired him etc. if it wasn't for steven Ke wouldn't of gotten noticed (his brother had gone for job interview to play short round and Ke was coaching his brother do this and that etc) and they wanted ke and not his brother. and the other film ke was in the goonies (also done by steven etc) when ke was in the back at golden globes he told the media about his work on goonies and how he missed everyone etc. and goonies never say die! they should of had ke in the dial of destiny. they could of had him, would of been wonderful. alot of me and other fans weren't happy about that.

Short Round is so amazing, he has his own hero theme play during fights.

You are so cool that you worship Satan. By virtue, admitting that GOD does in fact exist. So thanks for that! 😉😜

Temple of Doom is my fave of the series.
Indy actually helps people and the artifact doesn't get locked away 😅
Willie gets on a lot of nerves, but if you watch her as a parody of damsels in distress she's hilarious.
Something wildly misunderstood is the subtext of Hindu theology running through the movie. When Indy and Co fall from the sky and wash up on the river, the elder says Shiva sent them - Hindu dieties often empower mortals to do their bidding and here what we see is Shiva sending Indy to smash a cult worshiping a demon in insult to Shiva's wife Kali, rescue innocent children, and return the Shankara stone to its people. A journey into the underworld to battle demons is very Shiva, and when Indy and Mola Ram battle over the stones, Indy invokes the name of Shiva and the stones burst into flame, hurting Mola Ram but not Indy, who catches the last stone unharmed.
There are similar themes in Raiders and Crusade respective to their religions (Judaism and Christianity) but I find ToD slips past a lot of westerners due to the cultural divide.

    1. Many folks don't care for this one very much but I do. It's all kinds of fun.
    2. Just a small suspension of belief regarding the lifeboat drop out of the plane, and the coal car landing perfectly on the tracks.
    3. IRL Ford could fly that plane.😲
    4. When I was in the US Navy I got to eat monkey (but not monkey brains) and dog in the Philippines.
    5, Shortround is "Billy Badass"🤬😎
    6. Disneyland already has a "Temple of the Lost Ark" so another one of the rides through
the tunnel/mine would be cool too. Assuming you can still afford it.😏
    7. Fun fact: The guy that gets crushed is the same actor that played the guy that gets wacked by the propellor in "Raiders of the lost ark".
    8. Kate Capshaw got the Willie gig because she was dating and later became Spielberg's wife.
FWIW recently one of his fedoras sold at auction for $600,000

If you want more of Short Round (or at least the same actor Ke Huy Quan) you need to watch The Goonies. For a more up to date film with Ke Huy Quan watch Everything Everywhere All At Once.

    Great reaction you two! 😊
This one is actually a prequel to the first movie. I think that "Raiders of the Lost Ark" took place a year after this movie.
Fun Fact #1: This, along with the movie "Gremlins"(which I very highly recommend), prompted one of the first PG-13 rated movies.
Fun Fact #2: This was the break out role for future Academy Award winner Ke Huy Quan(who plays Short Round).
Fun Fact #3: Director Steven Spielberg met his future wife Kate Capshaw(who plays Willie)on the set of this movie.
Already looking forward to "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" up next. That's my favorite movie in the Indiana Jones movie series.
Looking forward to the next reaction. 😊

Just to let you guys know the film was really dark because of a couple of reasons, 1 lucas wanted 2nd movie to be dark like how empire had been; but also sadly lucas had been going through a really bad divorce and alot of the symbolism of that is in this. lucas wanted this one to be similar to the old 40's films and from the 30's he remembered like gunga din. the film brought about the pg 13 rating. there were actually more scenes that were a bit more scary/gruesome. that's why it's so dark. i think it shouldn't of been this dark , they could of done without the heart grabbing and just sacrificing etc. the thuggee cult was real too btw most people aren't aware of this. spielberg wanted them to do the heart grabbing to make it more over the top. the guy who plays mola ram (the head cult priest) armish purim, had played the villans in tons of indian films and was very famous at the time. he was known for be scary and very creepy in the films. he shaved his head just for this film too. spielberg wanted the best villan in indian films and they got him, they filmed it in sri lanka. it was banned from being filmed in india and the film was banned from india back in the day; don't know about now though. the beginning was supposed to be like a 007 scene; lucas always wanted to do a 007 thingy. also there is a cameo in the beginning; the man who takes indy and all to the plane is dan aykroyd he played r weber, (he's in it because spielberg is in blues brothers).

I always wondered: was the role of "Willie Scott" written like that *because* George Lucas was going through a bad divorce or am I over-interpreting?

You could survive. People have survived a drop like that without parachutes, albeit with massive trauma. the surface area of a life-raft could save your life, just depends how injured you'd be after. Although the instability would most likely through you off. Mythbusters tested it, but I don't remember the results.

    • @Easy_Skanking
      @Easy_Skanking 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

Mythbusters showed it was plausible to survive the drop. Buster had a minor injury, IIRC, but it was surprisingly survivable. The raft wanted to fall in that way without flipping and the air resistance was enough to slow the fall to non-lethal velocities. There were some interesting aerodynamics going on.

At 39:57 look for him climbing up like that in multiple movies. He did it in Blade Runner and the third movie in this franchise. I'm not sure if he did it in Star Wars.

Raiders is way better. Come on guys, think about it. It's a much better screenplay, the character of Indiana Jones is handled way better, the female lead is better, the action is better. I love Temple of Doom for sure, but Raiders is better

18:00 - I love Indian Jones franchise so much....but this part and this representation had lead many people in west believe that this is how Indians eat, especially rich ones. Which is not true,, from very old times and even now, Indians primarily have preferred vegetarian food. Yes it's true that Non-veg food is being eaten here, but not like this.

It's actually one (if not the main) reason that got the movie cancelled in India.

There's a line in the script where Indy comments that Hindus would never eat these things. It's expanded upon in the novelization.

RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK is NOT CHEESY! CHEESY MEANS BAD! RAIDERS WAS A BRILLIANTLY MADE FILM AND CLEVER! NOT CHEESY!
