- Ukrainian troops have made a surprise push into Russia's Kursk region, becoming the first foreign army to seize Russian territory since the Second World War.
Russian President Vladimir Putin says the incursion is a negotiation tactic by Ukraine for any future peace talks, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenksyy claims it was done purely to liberate Ukraine’s border region from shelling.

Russians had much deeper incursions in the beginning of the war. One thing is to move in, another is to consolidate the territorial gains. Without air superiority Ukraine burns through its last reserves badly needed near Pokrovsk and Kharkiv. Their logistics in the Kursk region are under constant drone attacks and the number of burnt APCs and IFVs is simply ridiculous. I don't know how long they're going to last, but I'm afraid this suicide mission is going to have disastrous consequences. Poking the bear in its den never ended well for much stronger armies.

I don't see how Ukrainians can supply their attacking troops. It's a heavily forested area where they have to use the few roads available, which makes the supply convoys easy target. So this offensive going to run out of steam...then could come the counter attack. The real soldiers must go nuts about zelenskys shortsightedness.

Unfortunately, with this move I think that the chances of Kiev getting nuked increased somewhat. In 2016, V. Putin said (to those who pay attention to the world) that if there would be war, Russia might not win it, but it wouldn't lose, either. I think the exact sentence was smth like "if the world wants to destroy us, don't worry, because in that case the world will cease to exist". And while this counterattack is totally legitimate, I fear it falls under the "justified" use of nuclear weapons according to the russian nuclear doctrine. These are dangerous times...😟
