My dad and I drove from Albuquerque, NM to Las Vegas, NV in our '97 Toyota Tacoma in January of 2010. We got to drive over the Hoover Dam right before they completed the new bridge that bypasses it! We left on a Friday night and would have gotten back home that Sunday but we got snowed out in Flagstaff, Arizona for a day! I was 11 at the time. It was a memorable trip.
The section of I-40 between Flagstaff to Kingman, Arizona, I've driven many times and find it one of the more enjoyable stretches of drives on the interstate highways to be found in the west . . . as it has an open scenic beauty to it . . . while the changes in elevations and the curves on that interstate removes the monotony of the drive.
