Nice work although the church part runs slow on youtube, but reception is OK. The outside church seems to have a lens soften effect ala NCIS, what did you use? Would you like to share what camera (s) was used and was it a single operator?
Hi Mervyn, well that "soften" effect you noted was covering a technical error. That camera (Canon XHA1) had a resolution problem at high f stop which softened the shot. I forgot to throw the ND filter on when I went outside. So I used the shift to outside (and the slow-mo) to justify an effect I put on to smooth over the error. It was a fog filter I added to the sequence. It was a two camera shoot. The other one was a big JVC. As a note, I upgraded cameras recently to the Sony HXR NX30 which I LOVE and which is perfectly suited to this type of work for more reasons than I can mention here, but if you'd like to see my video review of the Sony, check here: thevideowhisperer.wordpress.com/2013/04/24/pure-frickin-magic-sony-hxr-nx30-review/
Well done. Good work with the title shots and the B roll. Your cameras really struggle with the highlights. Do your cameras have a knee that you can adjust to help with the highlights? What happens if you under expose and then pick up the gamma in post? On a side note, don't you hate these photographers who think it is there right to get in the way all the time? Why can't they use a long lens and realize that the event is more important than the shot. People came there to see the bride and groom, they shouldn't have their view blocked by a photographer. Just my two cents. Gerry in Calgary
Beautiful
