Good job Jacobezz TV , you’re exactly right. I lost 50lbs in 4.5 months doing the same thing except 30min every day on a bow flex trainer, which is a cross between a stair stepper and an elliptical machine, because I wanted to speed up the weight loss. I might add I’m 51yrs old. I went from 216lbs to 165lbs. Height 5’8”. What I learned is the question you ask yourself is “how bad do you want it”. My excuse was I drive a semi 12 hrs a day 5days a week and I’m sooo tired when I get home. Then I asked myself that question. Apparently I wanted it bad enough.

I went on a 7 day water fast after reviewing Dr. Fung’s videos and seeing my doctor. I’m 64 years old with type 2 diabetes. I am 6’2 and 253 at the start. I lost 14 pounds and my glucose levels were normal. I then went to intermittent fasting only eating one plant based meal. I lost an additional 20 pounds over a 30 day period. Tested in normal range with no meds or insulin. No negative side effects. Thanks

Sounds great but def consider adding a decent amount of red and white meat as you have GOT TO increase your protein as you age, you can learn from Dr Gabrielle Lyon for this, and bear in mind also that plant protein isn’t ‘seen’ as much by muscle it really does make a difference ..

When I did intermittent fasting in the past, I didn’t know about Dr G Lyon yet. She advises consuming 30-50 g protein (leucine) per meal to build sk muscle. Total protein per day is 1 gram protein per pound of ideal body weight. I was eating 2 meals per day and my daily fast was 14-16 hours, and breakfast was the meal I eliminated. While my diet was healthy (fish, veggies, complex carbs, protein), the #g of animal protein I consumed was nowhere near 150 grams, as far as sk muscle is concerned. As a consequence, I lost muscle mass so there’s less sk muscle to burn calories consumed, and my weight went up and I put on much belly fat. This is why I’m wondering if intermittent fasting and consuming that much protein will only work the way it’s supposed to, in an older person, if that person is lifting some weights, doing resistance training, and some cardio. I’m 67 years old.

My mother was a nurse back in the early 70's through the late 00's. She observed a complete turn around of the medical profession from trying to work with patients on a nutritional level and get them to improve eating habits and stop bad habits, smoking and excessive drinking and adding exercise. They did this before offering medication which was used as a last resort. She watched this go from that to prescribing drugs after a first visit without much or any mention of health. So, after a doctors career he will leave behind thousands of patients who are taking drugs for the rest of their lives, and many who have gotten worse and worse.

I have a sugar addiction . I have become obsessed with these kinder hazelnut chocolate balls from Europe. I eat about 40 a day. They taste so incredibly delicious that each bite is heavenly. I also don’t really eat much else. I don’t know what to eat. I’m about 50 pounds overweight. I’m not gaining but I’m not losing and now I’ve been having problems with my eyes and I always has perfect eyesight. And I’m dizzy a lot. I fear I may be diabetic. Last blood test I had showed I was prediabetic.
I’d like to stop eating sugar. But then I get depressed and feel what happiness do I have? I don’t smoke, don’t drink alcohol ever, don’t take any drugs legal or illegal, so I have nothing but my chocolates . So I said what if I just eat the chocolates on weekends . This way I have all week to eat healthy and on the weekend I can have my bag of mini chocolate eggs to enjoy. But is that healthy ? I don’t know if I can even discipline myself to eat them only weekends. I need help.

I'm a third year medical student - they don't teach this kind of stuff in medical school enough. Luckily I had a strong interest in metabolic health/metabolic disease before going into medical school, and have been reading literature in this field for quite a while. Fellow med students and physicians - we have to educate ourselves beyond what we simply learn in school! Time restricted eating as well as focusing on foods that spike insulin less - these are tools that will have a far greater long term impact than any diabetes drug ever could.

What you might find helpful: Diseased states are caused by either/and/or a combination of: Deficiencies; Excess; Pathogens; Toxicity, and Stress (chemical-, physical-& emotional) - including lack of Deep Restorative Sleep... (Remember mnemonic DEPTS).
Besides for the excessive indulgence pointed out; when on a diet of refined, processed foods; developing cancer seems closely linked to microbiome disturbance/destruction, through for example antibiotic glyphosate, as well as prescription antibiotics; also harmful, toxic additives added to beverages, foods, personal products, medications - including in some supplements and vaccines, etc. Sugar also does not burn as clean (as ketones); thereby leaving much waste products to clear.
Then there's Cholesterol deficiency caused by agents like vegetable seed-oils and prescribed statin drugs; this in combination with a low fat diet, and inadequate sun exposure; leading to lowered production of Vit D, and thereby inhibited immunity. Studies had proven that both statins and seedoils can also induce Diabetes.

But we love cheese and ice cream. I especially am happy eating a good sourdough with butter. We both need a jump to our hormones- fasting will help. I know I can do it. I've already been eating fruit for breakfast and my last meal about 2 or 3pm. Really because of acid reflux. I feel better when I eat before 5pm. But also our Prophet ( pbuh) has giving us many instructions about how to eat & drink. By the way all of the religions has fasting as obligation. The problem is nobody is practicing the religions properly. Because at the end it's one god ( Allah) giving the same massage to all of his prophets from Adam till Mohammed. At one point in 1995, i had a chronic illness and I felt the medicine no longer helped me, I learned about fasting as a way to cleanse and heal. I am normal weight. I followed a 7 day fasting with just water. It was hard, the first 3 days were but on the 4th day i felt better, i didnt feel hungry anymore. From then on my immune system was enhanced. I do it once a yeat since then. I am almosþ 60 and not taking any pill and seldom get sick. Fasting cleanse and fixes you.

I’m living proof of what Dr. Fung is talking about. In just 3 months of 36 hr fasts 3 Xs a week, my sugar level went down from 7.2 to 6.2. As a nice side effect, I lost 30 lbs. and cholesterol went down from 277 to 218. (I did not take cholesterol meds during this time either, even though they were prescribed.) Some friends introduced me to Dr. Jason Fung’s book and I decided to go the fasting route instead of the diabetic medicine route. I’m not finished on this journey, but Dr. Fung’s advice in his book guided me in the right direction. I’m so thankful for my friends introducing his book to me to at least give fasting a chance over drugs.

My husband went from pre diabetic to perfectly normal. His doctor asked how he did it!
He started with a fast for several days, only water, coffee, tea, cocoa and when he started eating again he totally cut out potatoes, rice, bread, cake, cookies, pastry and sugar. All wheat was out, oats were in. He lost about 45 pounds and never even felt hungry.
For breakfast there is porridge, a lot of fruit, but no bananas or pineapple.
For snacks I grind oats in a coffee bean grinder to make oat flour and with that you can make oat cakes, pancakes, brownies etc. I use equal amounts of oat flour and oat bran for all these and sweeten the cakes with Splenda or Zylitol or a little maple syrup sometimes.
For the oat cakes I use olive oil instead of butter and add lots of nuts, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger and also dried apricots.
So, for oatcake snacks my recipe is: 1 cup oats, 1 cup oat bran, 3 eggs, chopped nuts, chopped dried apricots, about 3 ounces olive oil, 1 cup water, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 2 teaspoons cinnamon, 1 teaspoon each ginger and nutmeg and 1/2 teaspoon cloves . Pinch of iodized salt. Splenda to taste; I use about 3 tablespoons. Pour into a baking pan or cake tin, Bake as you would a cake , for about half an hour, cut in squares while warm. Cool and you can then freeze some.
Brownies are the same, but add half a cup of cocoa and additional half cup of water, so 1 1/2 cups water, and leave out the apricots and spices.
Main meals are some form of protein (meat, fish, etc) and mixed fresh veggies, usually about 5 different ones all cooked together, like carrots, broccoli, celery, cauliflower, spinach, cabbage. Really tasty on its own, sometimes with celery salt and za'atar sprinkled on during cooking if I do it as a stir fry. If you boil it, the water is a tasty drink.
For desserts we have fresh fruit salad with yogurt and sprinkled with oat cereal and ground nut cereal.
Then came a blood test which came back saying his platelets weren't right or something, he wasn't sure what this was all about, and he had to have a second test in 5 days.
So he took a teaspoon of Marmite every day and the next test came back perfect. The nurse asked what he did, and she said she would start eating Marmite! Lots of salt in it, so it is not for everyone.
We always buy Mornflake oats here in the UK, but there are good non GM oats in the USA too.
We just thank God that we are in our 70s and not on any meds at all.

If you're not skipping dinner on your 16/8, try eating according to our Circadian Rhythm. It's a game changer. Here's how to do it...
Eat your largest meal between 7 and 9am (the Stomach Meridian) "Break"fast and your 2nd meal (last meal) between Noon and 2pm (the Small Intestine Meridian). Fast between 2pm and 7am. Repeat. Do not snack between meals.
Remember this, the digestive system weakens as the day progresses, making dinner the worst time to eat. Eating with our Circadian Rhythm works with the metabolism (which slows down during the day and evening) not against it.

Good that I get to hear all this once again and that brings back some sincere hope in my life.

However, an accident put my life back in control of Doctors for some months and I had to let go of my fasting routine. Today, as I listen to these wise words (and some more from Dr. Alan Goldhamer), from tomorrow onwards I am going back to intermittent fasting for a week followed by water fasting for another week as a starter.

I'm glad I read the comments, which are personal and positive. I've been fasting 16/8 for ten days and while it's true I have more energy, I haven't lost so much as a pound. I must have the slowest metabolism ever. Will keep trying and watching more videos☺️

try a full water fasting for 3 days first. make sure you put minerals in your water from fasting (a pinch of sea salt or pink Himalayan salt) this will keep you from feeling light headed, or tiered, leg cramps etc. Very important to have your mineral in water while fasting! Once you have gotten through a 3 day fast then do one meal a day between 3-5 depending on when you feel like eating the meal but don't eat any later than 5. if you eat fruits, nuts seeds, veggies, proteins and healthy fats, you won't need more than one meal and you will feel full for a long time..the carbs cause the sea saw of eating every few hours so when you don't eat them you don't feel hungry so often. Drink lots of water during your initial 3 day fast and get rest, extra sleep, just take it easy and do things to distract your mind like reading, go for walks, etc but stay away from tv and food commercials or things that will trigger you to want food best as you can. if you work full time outside the home try doing your 3 day fast or at least start it when you have your days off. If you have coffee every day you can have tea with no milk or sugar just so you get a little caffeine cause the withdrawl can be difficult and give you headaches but tea is better than coffee . I lost 60lbs in 3 mos this way...hope it help you. The first 3 day fast won't be easy...but you can do it if you truly in your heart want to. Make a list of the reasons you want to loose weight and put it on your fridge, put a pic of when you looked thin and healthy also, prepare yourself menially for a few days first and be sure to put some minerals in your water especial if you star to feel light headed or just icky go have a glass of water with a pinch of sea salt. When you fast your body burns off the trash first...so it can get a bit uncomfortable as you burn off the toxins stored in the fat. After you have done the initial 3 day fast the one meal a day is easy if you stick with it and do not break it even for one day and eat healthy (no breads, pasta, processed foods, sugar, etc) you can eat as much as you want for your one meal...so eat lots and enjoy it...prepare fresh food and have fun trying new recipes and tastes. Try lots of different spices, veggies, fruits, nuts, seeds etc and new food combos....it helps! I wish you the best of luck and I hope sharing with you what helped me helps you! 😊💙

Read one of his books to really learn the science of it and don't give up! Why do people expect instant results? smh
It takes a while to tweek things so your body relearns how to switch from sugar burning to fat burning. Watching a few videos is not going to cut it folks.

As a retired doctor listening to this, I agree and recognize his descriptions of how pills are “ gently” pushed to physicians, so they become a
“Schill” for these pharma companies. If they could put a “hit”out for doctors like Dr. Fung, they would!

I am an intelligent woman of 73. I argue with my doctor to the point he sometimes walks out of the room to cool down. I believe in functional medicine, taking responsibility for my own health even though my genetic line is not promising. Stress causes weight gain and disease and I find doctors pushing pills I don't need one if my greatest stresses. The diet this doctor recommends is how I was raised (mother was a dietician). I should never have diverted from how I was fed as a child. I believe that our bodies are capable of healing ourselves..?. if the medical community would get off their high horse and spend more effort discovering what is causing the problem rather than treating the outcome with pills we would all be a lot healthier.

Three days is the longest I have managed. I think maybe I need more minerals in my water. After 3 days I was strongly in ketosis and maintained mild ketosis for a few more days by choosing carefully what I ate. So although I started eating again my body was still burning some fat. Most of the time I am IF and eating LCHF and maintaining my weight loss while still loving my food.

And we fast for 18 hrs in Ramadan for a month lol good job. It’s all about habits. We start eating less before Ramadan to prepare plus I make sure I eat a lot of butter and almond before the fast starts. The strange thing is in the last week of the month we don’t even feel hungry by dusk. It’s amazing how body responds. All the best 😀
