    Very inspiring video! I'm doing my internship as a graphic designer and i really want to start my own business and become freelancer. Can you do a video about how to start and everything you need to pay attention before you do something like this? I'd rely appreciate that ❤️ and congratulations on your achievements 👏

    Love this video, its so inspiring! My goal for 2023 is to get more high end freelance clients, how do most of your clients find you? I always struggle with finding clients that want to pay decent £££ for branding! xx

    In U.S. one of our big expenses when self-employed / business owner is very ecpensive healthcare insurance.

      I’ve heard! I can imagine that would be a stressful expense as someone self employed - I’m lucky to be living in the UK with free healthcare.

    Hi, Just stumbled across your channel! Thanks for sharing these very interesting insights into your life/career as a graphic designer. My mind was so blown when you were saying 10k months because I've never had anything close to 10k per month! LOL (I'm from Australia and the Australian dollar is much less too!)

    • @shahilson
      @shahilson  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! Thanks so much for watching 😊 my mind was blown when I first achieved it too!! Towards the end of the year I really focussed on working with high-level clients with bigger budgets - also splitting my fee into monthly payments so the income would stack up every month really helped.

      She is misleading people. I work for Leo burnett Dubai as a senior art director and I barely make 85.000 usd and I worked in Australia and I was close to make 100k aud which is a good salary there. So take what she says with a pinch of salt. She actually doesn't explain it how just show a calculator and says she makes 10k lol

      Hey I think I’ve cleared this up in the other comment you left, but again just to reiterate the fact I’m not talking about a salary of a graphic designer, I’m talking on my own experience as a freelance branding + web designer. When you work for yourself you’re able to set your own rates, find high paying clients etc. I respect your reality may be different to mine as an employee vs me as a freelancer with different services but again I have no reason to make anything up, just want to encourage people :)

    Hello! I enjoyed watching your video as I am interested in pursuing a career in graphic design. More specifically web design. I have a few questions… Can you describe to me what exactly “branding” is. Also, financially in your opinion do you believe that having your own business brings in higher income than working in a company?

    Hi Sha, i was wondering what online courses you have done to learn graphic design and web design/development to get to where you are today? I'm based in NZ so unsure if you did anything while still living here or if you did other online courses, i am familiar with BYOL courses but wanted to know if you did any others to get to where you are today as i'd love to eventually end up where you are :) Have a great day!

    Sorry but what a load of BS and lies. These numbers don't make sense. 80.000 usd to 6 figures salary a year is the salary of a senior or lead brand designer in a big agency, such as Pentagram, Future Brands, Landor. Jugding by your portfolio I highly doubt you are making a quarter of it. This is far from reality. This is not to say it is not possible, I know badass award winning brand designers in top-notch agencies and studios that could potentially make that money but they have insane portfolios.
    Don't mislead people, especially young designers who have no idea how harsh the market is. People set false expectations based on what social media says and then you see them crying and making tiktoks complaining why they can't make a decent salary and blaming the system for not giving them what they "deserve"

      Hi there, I wasn’t sure whether to respond to this or not as it’s rather an aggressive comment. I just want to make it very clear that I have no reason to make how much I earn up, I said in this video that I was weary to speak about money as I know it’s a touchy subject, so maybe I have opened myself up to receiving a comment like this.
      I also want to remind you, I set my own rates and I don’t have a salary paid by an agency so I’m not speaking on a typical salary of a graphic designer at a company. I offer branding, web design and web development services and work with a variety of clients - I have my dream clients that are in specific niches but I also do work for corporate clients who have budgets upwards of £10k for a project as they usually have investors and money to spend, I’ve built up connections and a network that also refer me great projects. I worked my ass off last year and took on a lot of projects and therefore was able to earn what I earned. I have friends in the design community that have earned much more than this so it’s confusing that you think it is so out of reach. I share this to let people know that this is something achievable. Hope this has cleared that up for you.

      @@shahilson Sorry I didn't want to come off as rude but I would like to understand how a designer who makes a 6 figures salary doesn't have a full fledge website with the high-end clients and projects you say you have in your video. It raises a lot of questions considering your short experience, which is not bad or wrong. Maybe a breakdown of how you budget your projects or making a full case study would give a better idea of how you have managed to hit the 6 figures number. Thanks

    • @shahilson
      @shahilson  ปีที่แล้ว

      I completely understand your train of thought, but there are so many ways to make a living as a branding + web designer! My clients don’t often find me on google, which is why my website hasn’t really been updated with all projects etc (when I get busy the last thing on my mind is updating my own website) and it’s not my biggest lead generator. As mentioned above a lot of my clients come through referrals and finding me on social media. I think my above comment explains the scope of work and kinds of projects I do so that should help you understand how I’m able to earn those numbers. But yes in the future I’m happy to break this all down more :) have a lovely day
