20 years ago, the HF-1000 was always praised in journals as the best receiver in the world. In specialist circles, also the Telefunken E1800 was regarded as the world's best HF receiver.
I always loved the way these commercial maritime style shortwave radios looked with their rack mount aesthetics and the way the buttons are done. Its always why I like the Tecsun Pl990x because it reminds me of this.

Unfortunately the pitch is very different and the microphone can’t pick up the audio in the same way.
Racal is tuned at 7.025.050 and WJ is tuned at 7.025.005. Why???
