I'm beginning to really like how Superman is portrayed in this series. This superman is not about banging it out in the middle of the city but really cares about innocent bystanders and moves the actual fight to the remote areas where no one gets hurt.

You really think Superman would have just been able to tell Zod “Hey Zod, let’s not fight here, we could kill innocent people.” And Zod would have responded with “You know what Kal-El, you’re right - my bad… let’s go fight on the moon.”
Zod was in the process of terraforming the planet, he wanted humans gone anyway. Kaiju level destructing is exactly what would happen.

100% disagree. Smallville did the better job of humanizing Clark Kent. From the moment he crashed to where he started at Smallville High with Lana as a teen all the way to season 10 as he journeyed into Superman. Also Michael Rosenbaum's Lex Luthor was 100% better in terms of storytelling and character development than the one Michael Cudlitz plays. Michael Rosenbaum's Lex Luthor is the best live action version the next best TV version would be Jon Cryer's Lex Luthor every other version has disappointed in live action except the one from the Superman cartoon in the 90s.
This and Smallville did amazing with making Clark Kent feel like a person.

@@IsaacG8 It's more because they knew what to keep in shadow. The thing that actually dictates good CGI is not mixing it with practical effects, it's just making it fit the lighting of the scene and the quirks of the camera to make things appear as if they're in the same area seen through the same lense. It's a huge misconception, but good practical effects on set =/= good CGI in post.
Especially given the small budget of the show, you can tell how hard the staff worked to make this look as good as it does!

@@smallville-kal167that's the problem with introducing popular characters, there's always expectations from fans. So in my own opinion Smallville did fall short with not only Doomsday, but Darkseid as well.
@@smallville-kal167 It was still crap, regardless of the reason. We didn't even really get to see any semblance of a fight before the burial. Smallville did 2/3 Zod fights and he's as much a post-cape Superman enemy as Doomsday. The little Smallville gave was...meh at best (but for Doomsday, that would have been CGI heavy and Smallville never felt like it had that budget. If it did, it was misused.) Doomsday isn't the only one that got this treatment tho. Anyone remember Bizarro? When I fist saw that season ending with Bizarro beating Clark and flying off, the hype was real. Next season, barely anything happens and he's taken out in the first episode. As much as I like Smallville, I can see that one of its biggest flaws is that it almost never delivered on season-finale fights (one notable exception being the blue kryptonite fight against Zod. That was actually pretty good).
edit: not only the season-finale fights but just in general, some fights were really good but more often than not, they really dropped the ball. Apocalypse and Darkseid is an example. Bizarro coming back to get Lois(? maybe it was Lana) is another one. There are more but you get the point. It is still a great show though. A lot of the CGI has aged like milk but it still works and the air ripple effect...Flash 2014 has lightning, Smallville had that air ripple.

For the first time since I was ten years old and reading the "Death of Superman" comics...I'm scared for Superman. FINALLY a Doomsday depiction that really portrays the sheer terror a creature of this magnitude would inspire.
This was definitely a great one but the Best Doomsday I say was from Krypton it was more comic book accurate but this one is definitely in the top 3

In space, Clark doesn't need to hold back. He punched Doomsday straight into the moon!
In the original Doomsday fight, Clark was very worried about protecting everyone. And Metropolis suffered a LOT of damage. And so did he.
But THIS time, on the surface of the moon, Clark can cut loose without worrying about collateral damage.
I think Supes has this fight in the bag! :)
@mariolawrence897 unfortunately Superman definitely doesn't have this in the bag. He also did let loose while fighting the original version of Doomsday while being worried about the collateral damage the fight was having on metropolis. That was the only way he was able to stop Doomsday rampage. This Doomsday on the other hand is different because it wasn't a baby created on Pre-Krypton killed and cloned over and over again this Doomsday was created from Superman so just letting loose won't be enough I'm afraid.

Watching Superman and Doomsday fighting one another in the subway tunnel was an awesome callback to the 2007 animated movie. Oh my god, this show just keeps on continuing to blow me away every single time. Bring on season 4!!!!

People need to give Tyler his flowers for playing Superman so damn well and the writing team for respecting the character of Superman/Clark. Dealing with family problems and with his kids and wife I like how they kept a certain balance with them all that keeps me coming back and not to mention the music they chose for the show. I met him at NY Comic-Con last year and the dude was cool as fuck in person. Sucks this show is ending so soon with the 4th season being it’s last I wish they could’ve kept it going like they did with smallville. Also I wish they could’ve used the death of Superman where Lois is crying holding his dead body in her arms cause she thinks he’s dead that would’ve been dope to see but this damn cliff hanger man. They better continue this fight in the first episode next year

The changes were in order for the season to come out at all, because the Warners just wanted to close the series so that it would not interfere with the film, but the authors won the right to at least one more season to finish the story, the condition was to reduce the budget.@@keithziegler8881

They made a modern superman that is relatable and likeable and showed all sides of him. Father. Husband. Hero. And this Doomsday fight was pretty awesome! Tyler has more than earn my respect and he has made me more of a supes fan (not that I hated the char but was more of a flash guy myself)!

Just wanted to point out a small detail in case people didn't notice it, but at 3:03 you see Superman finally start getting some exposure to the Yellow Sun the further Doomsday takes him into orbit, and just like that he comes back to life, his injuries heal and his strength returns ready for round 3. Superman was having a rough time before then because it was nighttime and he had no exposure to the Yellow Sun, meaning he was fighting with what power he had with no means of recharging, which is quite a consistent trope with a lot of recent Superman VS Doomsday fights, including both animated films and Batman V Superman. The moment Superman has access to a Yellow Sun, he gains a big advantage against Doomsday.
This is why I laugh at the idea of Superman defeating Hulk. Yes, he has the _potential_ to defeat Hulk easily; however, this only works provided he acts out of character. For example, yes, Superman is faster. However, he rarely uses his speed _in combat._ He brawls. Yes, he could use his heat vision to lobotomize Hulk. However, he's done that, what? once, against Manchester Black, just to neutralize his powers. Yes, he could use lethal offense. However, restraint is an integral part of his character--that he believes, "there's always another way." Yes, he could always sun-dip to recharge himself. However, if he didn't do that in his first fight with Doomsday (where he was killed), there is little reason to believe that he would do so against Hulk. Hulk would continuously grow stronger as his anger increased, while Superman would deplete his energy primarily brawling. Then, Hulk would kill him. Of course, Superman would come back to life anyway because he's just a living solar battery, but if both of them remained true to character, Hulk _should_ kill Superman.

This show really casually ended the third season with Soundgarden and a cliffhanger that pulled you to the edge of your seat.

holy fuck this was amazing. The way we slowly see Clark healing while he is (again) going through the important moments of his life to get through it. He is so human in this show. I love every bit of it.
He's healing because he's getting closer to the ☀️ the higher up they go. But I think the memories of Louis definitely add to the drama, humanization and motivation to body doomsday lol

The fact that Superman is not bleeding insanely after taking a beatdown like that is insane.......in the comics and anime, he was bleeding like hell and was fatigued.....
Probably the TV censors wouldn't allow that much blood. But even so, the scene does a good job of showing how badly hurt superman is: he spits out blood, and it's shown that he stopped breathing. Superman stopped breathing for a moment before getting his second wind

I can tell CW really put some weight behind the CGI budget for this fight. It was incredible. I can see why this is one of their most expensive series. I would’ve been incredibly pissed if this wasn’t renewed for S4 and this was the last we ever saw of the series.
I must say Tyler Hoechlin is my favorite live action Superman. I know a lot of talk down about the man in the role but I feel like since Christopher Reeves he's portrayed Clark/ Superman the best thus far. I hope one day more people will show him the respect he deserves. Same with Bitsie Tulloch as Lois. She's amazing as well and needs to be apart of the conversation.

flash season 1 was good because of the suspense of what was going to happen. the other seasons were way too predictable. Maybe season 7 with his daughter was the other season that wasn't that predictable as well.

When the Arrowverse budget gets multiverse encounters, team ups and even a Doomsday fight better than DC movies. People really need to stop dismissing these shows.
The arrowverse wasn’t always the best hell most of the time it wasn’t the best but people should applaud what it did and tried to do I mean it did crisis before the movies it did Superman better then movies it introduced a tv universe better then movies and even for people who don’t love it should appreciate what it did on a tv budget yeah daredevil was better then arrow and people can talk about the mcu shows and how there better thought I don’t agree with that statement but shows like them have are on streaming and have 8-10 episodes and higher budgets so even if you’re a person who doesn’t like the arrowverse you should at least try to see that it accomplished more then a tv show universe of superhero’s ever will in live action

While I wasn’t a big fan of Doomsday design but the fight and who Doomsday was and how he became Doomsday I absolutely loved it.
Yea I agree his design isn’t perfect but I thought it looked better here than it did in BvS

There is slight differences that make this take on doomsday superior than the BVS version.
For starters, Superman and Lois' take on doomsday is Bizarro instead of Zod like he was in Bvs.
But that isn't the change that really makes him better, it's more about how Bizarro was used instead.
We got to spend time with him, we got to connect with this guy, we learned that he was a super hero from a different universe who is only on this new earth to stop a world ending event, one of which that played a role in destroying his family.
This same guy would eventually end up dying for Superman, who then went on to stop that world ending threat.
Fast forward to season 3, where Bizarro's body is stolen by the main villains of season 3 to use in their experiments where they of course resurrect bizarro and turn him into a mindless Zombie which Lex Luthor then exploits to kill Superman, then we learn that these experiments that the main villains of season 3 did on Bizarro caused him to become immortal, because every time he dies, he just comes back stronger, leading into the death montage where Lex kills Bizarro over and over again, which pays far more respect to doomsdays origins than Sndyer ever cared to. This only thing has him eventually involve into doomsday, and with that whole concept, it makes doomsday a very sad and compelling character with everything that he's had to go through, making us care about his transformation, so at the very least the story surrounding how doomsday is created is better.
I think the CGI for doomsday is better in BVS but that doesn't mean the design itself is good, he actually looks more like a ninja turtle than doomsday, and he isn't even that intimidating because of that.
But unless you're blind, the designs between the two are very different lmfao.

What I love about this show is that it really shows how much Clark Kent is the REAL persona of the character.....He might be Kryptonian, but his true power is his humanity, humbleness, love, morality and ethics.....The fact that Lois whispered his true name Clark....woke him up....he started kicking ass!!!! Incredible writing!!!
Haven't watched this show in a long time, but damm this fight is going pretty epic.
In this series Doomsday is probably the only being aside from other kryptonians that can give Superman a beating without needing kryptonite or red sun light.

It still shakes me to my core when he was saying that it’s ok to the crowd but hearing doomsdays heartbeat and seeing how his expression changed. I felt the same way he did. It wasn’t going to be ok and he knows he can’t stop it.

Superman and Batman are the only two DC heroes that are going to be done the right way on TV shows and in movies....let's just be honest. Hopefully one day in the future someone gives Barry Allen his SHINE and actually does his story the right way. That cliffhanger with Doomsday and Superman battling it out on the moon was so dope! Lex is going to be dropping bods in S4 I can already feel it. My nerves are going to be on edge for Lois next season because she's one of the people Lex wants dead.
