Also multiple millions of people today support rather than condemn their LGBT family members and friends. Also you are asking min. wage earners to give at least 20 dollars a week to the collection plate, that's over 1000 bucks a year. People working two jobs and barely making ends meat can't give a 1000 bucks away to a church.

GOOD. I’m sick of their bullshit….anyone and everyone can pick up a bible and read at home. You go to church for the camaraderie, the charity, the kindness, the love and the church lately HAS BEEN ABSOLUTELY DEVOID OF ANY OF THAT. Every single church has some political agenda…you know why I’m fed up with the church my parents used to take me to? Every sermon was about forcing women to give birth to babies they couldn’t afford to keep…they help these women keep the children…but then where are these women with their children afterwards????? NOTHING. NOTHING is said about them. But we’re onto the next woman to force into keeping a baby.
Second…I was too young at the time to understand but I do now…there was a woman experiencing physical abuse from her husband and she was used as an example…Oh, what was SHE doing to get HIM to hit HER???? EXCUSE ME???? Nothing about getting this woman help. Nothing about holding the man accountable. Her problem is she wasn’t praying hard enough!!!!
And let’s not forget the Westborough Church and the hate they spread. Or other racist or hateful churches…it’s not about preaching the word of God…it’s about being exclusive to only your clientele.
So you can play all the sad piano music that you want over the death of the church but the only people responsible for the death of the church is the church itself. God is no longer in the house of worship. He’s in you and you need to cultivate your own relationship with God. And stop listening to these false prophets..
I would, hands down, go back to a church where you felt loved and welcomed. I think EVERYONE wants that. When we are all adults and we have no mother or father or family to go back to…you know what’s nice…? Pulling up to the church and it’s a hubcap of activity…especially on the holidays! You don’t have to be home alone with yourself…you can go to church and see all smiling faces and there’s food and kids running around and you feel a sense of belonging. I been to church lately. It’s a judgmental hell hole where no one genuinely cares about anyone else, there is no community, there is no heart and no sense of belonging. You want to be tortured for an hour. Then attend.

I know what I wrote was long but I realize that I could speak for HOURS on how let down I feel by the church. Especially as a woman. I was taught to be an object…not a person. I was taught to be submissive and accept disrespect and less than any human being deserves because I was a girl. I have hurt in my heart that for a good portion of my life I was taught to be someone’s wife and not my own person. And I’m angry…that religion has been weaponized the way it has…to be used as a tool of oppression and division. Organized religion always starts off with the best of intentions…but it always gets co-opted by those who crave power. You are sheep to the slaughter…especially in Christianity.

Many Native Americans and Native children in Canada were mistreated, murdered, raped, in the name of religion. Now religion is being politicized against women. We are going backwards people…This weaponization starts in the church because the wolves have the sheep under control. History will repeat itself. The new name is Christian Nationalism, AKA white evangelicals, AKA non white evangelicals, AKA white supremacists. This is not speaking extreme. This is truth. Read History.
Texas wants to replace school counselors with Chaplains. Do we trust them? Can we trust them? What is the History of these religious folks in our schools? No good track records. The Pope is still apologizing for the past and present behavior of some of these “religious” pretend folks.

Now the upper church is not open as much as it used to be. He closed the bathrooms using covid as a justification. Even though there is a funeral home nearby, he stopped the church calendar. He stopped the film series, using the pandemic as an excuse. He stopped the Tenebrae masses. He avoid showing up o confession and uses another priest often. I am confident I could not convince you that the cottage required no builder and that by chance it came into existence. You would think perhaps I thought you are a fool to believe such nonsense. @@livewireOrourke No, we don’t need god. People who deconvert usually talk about how happy and safe and free they finally feel.
Granted, if children are taught from a young age that they are vile and worthless without a god, they may internalize that false poison and then rely on the imaginary cure that is Christianity.
So yeah, it helps to partially mitigate the abuse it perpetuates, but…what if we just didn’t abuse and lie to kids in the first place???

I don't mean to offend anyone by this, but if all we want, as Christians, is to go back to "normal" I, personally, want NO part of it! I was getting sick and tired of church as "normal".
The American church knows how to "do" church while excluding or limiting the Holy Spirit. After all, Godly disorder, aka "holy messiness" scares people because they no longer have control.
So we cling tightly to our rituals, traditions and timetables: 1 fast song while calling late-comers from the coffee-shop to the sanctuary, then the greeting. 1 or 2 more fast songs (to get people hyped up and "in the mood") then maybe 2 slow songs to get the emotional atmospheric tone juuuuust right. Of course, this can vary depending on what "big game" will be on later. Then the offering, release the kids, then a motivational speech where the listeners are encouraged to think positive this week. Then a short benediction, release and more social interaction. Then home to enjoy that meal we've been thinking about the whole service.
PUKE! No wonder many churches closed down and many people willingly stayed home! I don't blame them! Just another social club instead of Holy Ghost fire coming down, causing hungry people to come from all parts of the world because they've finally smelled "fresh bread" instead of the stale stuff our churches have been doling out!
I want a church where the Holy Spirit is given ALL power and permission, the services last for hours with absolutely NO agenda or schedule on our parts, and lives are transformed! Where people crawl out of there because they've experienced the powerful, weighty, life-changing presence of the almighty God and can't WAIT to come back! I want to see a holy starvation come to the "cotton-candy" themed modern-day American church that will turn them inside out and give glory and honor to Jesus alone!
