    This mini quad from Holy Stone HS430 is an impressive piece of kit for its size. It features a removable battery, 1080p video feed and height hold capabilities in a drone you can hide in your hand. It’s a great option for flying indoors in the colder months or when the weather won’t let you fly outdoors. It’s also a great starter drone for folks just joining the hobby. Thanks for watching and please let me know if you have any questions!

    Great job Rick I have been looking at this one recently. Neheme and holystone are my current indoor flyers. Like you said we need to practice inside when wether won’t cooperate.
    I think you would be a great navigator in this sector for future operators to get some cheap trainer drones or beater drones 😂.

    Great video …. I just ordered this drone for fun in-door use. I am guessing that the reason they have the fake gimbal dial is so they can use the same controller for other drones with gimbals; if needed. That way, they do not have to make a second die cast. Thanks for video and info!

    Always liked the MJX Bugs drones. That is how i started out 6 years ago, and still have them plus my DJI the last 2 odd years. Cannot agree more Rick, why spend hundreds on a drone to start out. Get flying cheaply like this Holy Stone and see if you like the hobby. I know how many people that have spent hundreds and hundreds on the likes of DJI drones as their first drones. Some are broken, lost or just stay in the cupboard.

    I have to assume this is brushed as nothing says brushless. I think brushless, at this point in time, is preferred. The link goes to a 2 battery version, not 3.
    Looking forward to more drones that are affordable. Most of your product reviews are on the high side/ not affordable for some. Thanks.

    Thank you for the review. Just a thought, I noticed you referenced many items 2 or 3 times which some people aren’t as savvy as many others so they may need the repeat information. I think if you can, try cutting your video down to 6 minutes or offer 2 videos. 1 short version and 1 full version. Just the facts works for many of us guys. Like I said, just a thought.. Thanks

      Joe, thanks for the post and this clip turned out to be longer than I planned because I was explaining why I'm starting to review these less expensive quads. I do tend to repeat certain things in the clips that I feel are important and try to make these reviews as concise as possible. I have another 10 or so "hobby" class drones that I'll be reviewing on the channel and these clips will be shorter so I hope you'll stop back to watch them. Rick

    Rick, while I use mid- to high-range drones in business, I keep Hobby drones around for winter practice, as you alluded to in your review. I've had the HS430 since it was released, and it is quite simply an amazing little drone. Fun, reliable, good quality and responsive. My daughter saw me fly it and placed an order on the spot. She also loves it, and she has been flying for 5 years now. I highly recommend this aircraft for newbies and experienced alike.
    One final thought: I have dealt with Holy Stone's customer service twice over other drone issues for friends, and they are only (and just bately) surpassed by DJI for responsiveness and satisfaction.

    Meh, I've still got 10 yr old Syma X5Cs, X12s, & a few micro fpv drones like Eachine E010 (brushed) or Mobula 6 (brushless) to fly indoors. I have a couple of 5 inch fpv racers to fly outside, which I use to blow leaves out of my drive. Have to admit that it's a pretty good bargain considering what you get compared to back in the past. People who are looking for this type of drone should check out Quadcopter 101's channel, as he reviews these regularly. Cheers

      Bill, thanks for the post and I've kind of skipped over the "hobby" level drone reviews until now and it was mostly due to their sketchy tech. In recent years they have gotten a lot better and now represent a good value for the money so I wanted to start reviewing them on the channel. Let me know if you think it's a good idea to expand into the lower priced quad reviews. Thanks, Rick

    • @billsomrak
      @billsomrak ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Dronevalley Sure .. why not include some 'hobby grade' drones, as long as they're decent value. I agree with another commentor that you should probably keep review lengths for these to 10 min. max. I think that the vast majority of your subscribers are not in the n00b class, but it doesn't hurt to offer some reviews which a n00b would find interesting .. might even expand your base. Cheers.

      @@billsomrak Yep, this one went a little long because of the conversation in the beginning explaining why I've skipped these quads in the past. The others I'm working on will be shorter and still include all of the information you'll need to understand if the quad is right for you. Thanks for the feedback!

    This is not a “Hobby Grade” drone, this is absolutely a “Toy Grade” drone. There is nothing “Hobby Grade” about this drone. Hobby Grade drones you either build yourself and/or have the ability to program, configure and modify to your liking or flying style. “Hobby Grade” drones are for the most part mostly manual. There really is no “Auto” anything unless you install the sensors and program them yourself on Betaflight, Emuflight, INAV, or Aurdupilot or some program to do programming or configuration on. This is clearly just a “Toy Drone” and that’s all it is. To claim that this is a “Hobby Grade” drone is an insult to all of us who have spent years building, programming, configuring, fabricating, manufacturing FPV quads, photo-drones, cinelifters, race quads, long range quads, freestyle quads, whoops, FPV wings, FPV EDF’s/Fuel jets, FPV heli’s. All these that I mentioned are “Hobby Grade” not this little “Toy Drone”. Love your videos but just had to add this to clarify things. Thank you for the video. 👍

    • @bulldogboy100
      @bulldogboy100 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So does that make anyone who uses this drone a toyist and not a hobbyist?

    • @Dronevalley
      @Dronevalley  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Pete, I'm sorry and didn't mean to insult anyone but we're debating nomenclature. There are so many divisions in the drone hobby that every now and then the wires get crossed. I get grief a few times a week for using the term "quad" to describe drones by the off-road community so I can't keep everyone happy. With these RTF drones, most folks call the less expensive (but still capable) smaller ones Hobby Grade and ones that are tiny (and gear driven) as Toy Drones. This one has video streaming, 1080p recording, intelligent battery and monitoring as well as visual control. None of the toy drones provide this and are the most basic quad that can actually fly. I totally respect the other side of the hobby that starts with a frame and builds a drone by adding motors, flight controller, transmission tech and everything else needed to have the bundle fly. I've built a ton of these myself and actually love the journey required to get it flying stable and level. I also verbally trip sometimes in these longer clips and may misspeak occasionally over 10-15 minutes. As I get a little older, I get a little goofier so I hope that makes sense. I do appreciate the post and hope you'll stop back for more content this week. Rick

    • @mike6136
      @mike6136 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Dronevalley I agree about the nomenclature. I, for one, have not seen a drone (or quad) in a toy section at a store (therefore referred to as a toy drone) with these capabilities.

      @peteroman4297 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bulldogboy100 no, I’m not saying that, what I’m saying is there are some people who are dedicated to their hobbies and although it is fun it’s still a very serious “Field Of Interest” to them. They have spent years and years into this passion for RC vehicles, I myself have been in the RC hobby for a little over 45+ years and sometimes it becomes a little offensive when a classification is given lumping everyone together as if there isn’t a difference between one who has dedicated their time,skill,mind,passion,quality and not to mention the frustration when things don’t go as planned but still must figure out a solution to get it working and flying the way you intended it to. That “Life”, that “Mindset” is very different from one who just buys something that’s been put together and charges a battery, slaps it in and then goes to give it “The Beans”. Listen, I’m not saying that this “Type” of drone doesn’t have a place in the consumer market, all I’m saying is let’s not lump everyone together just because “It” appears to have 4 props and 4 motors.that’s all I’m saying.🤷🏻‍♂️💯

    • @peteroman4297
      @peteroman4297 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Dronevalley I completely understand. It’s not even a real issue. Sometimes people take things out of context (which I have been known to do) and honestly the more I think about it the more “Snobby-ish” I feel. So it’s not really your area to apologize, it’s really me who should be apologizing because whether it’s a “Toy” drone or not who cares and because I’ve spent so many years in this hobby sometimes it gives a person a sense of “Elitist” which at times I find myself falling into and then I have to step back and look at why this is happening. So, although I appreciate your retort I have to apologize to you and the viewers for my statement. I’ve notice that a lot of individuals in RC develop a sort of “Elitist” persona who have been in this hobby for years . Love your videos. 😊👍💯
