  • I own BMW GS310 and have ridden the bike across India for 42K Kms (You may check the vlogs on the channel). After riding GS extensively for 2.5 years, I got an opportunity to ride @nitish's #KTM390Adventure over the weekend.
So in this video, I have covered what I felt riding KTM390 Adventure after riding GS for 42,000 Kms.

Plus points of KTM 390 adventure then GS are :
    1) More Power & Torque
    2) Less Maintenance
    3) Parts are cheap
    4) Lots of Electronics(Quick Shifter, Cornering ABS, TFT Screen which is best, Traction Control)
    5) Superb Handling

1- power and torque doesn't matter in 300cc adventure bikes ( as he said a good rider will know how to maintain proper hp and nm )
2- GS has actually less maintenance ( 1year or 10K km service intervals ) rather than running to the KTM service centre every 3 months lol
3- parts are of premium, top notch and top of the line quality and no bike company can beat it
4- quick shifter, cornering abs, TFT screen and traction control are of 0 to no use in adventure bike( what are driving man ? A naked street fighter or a sports bike ? Hell it's a adventure bike lol ktm only did this to pump up the prices or else this bike would have cost 2.5 lakhs ex showroom)
5- handling and riding pleasure are the best in class in GS and no bike can even come close

@@bleeder1742 If you are telling power and torque doesnot matter then Himalyan is best or Xpulse. Ktm service cost is almost 1500 rupees.. washing and chain lube done in 300 rupees.. i use quickshifter more but it only works above 4k RPM. traction control is the safest and corening ABS .. if you dont want anything then buy Xpulse ... and save money.
For me the first and most important thing is power. because i use to have ninja 650 .. If people are coming from a lower bhp bike they wont know what is thrill that power makes.
You are telling parts are top notch. I hope you know that these parts are made in TVS factory. they are not german made.
If these parts are top notch and ride quality is best then why most riders buying bigger german made GS. 850, 1250?

@@glowingbiker1867 I rephrase it, power and torque doesn't matter in 300cc adventure bikes if you are a good rider you'll know how to maintain proper hp and nm. And I don't need to take any advice from a ninja 650 ower... Who made a horrible decision to buy that underpower bike and ironically the owner's top priority is power lol. Hell ninja 400 has the same gear to speed ratios as the ninja 650. Ninja 400 goes to 75 in 1st gear, 104 in 2 gear and goes on. Why the hell did you buy a ninja 650 if you care about power ? You wanted to fit in the superbike genre ? Wannabe ? Ninja 650 is so underpowered I can't even believe its definitely a bike for the "pick me bikers wannabe" who just want to look better in the group and don't even know about bikes at all. 1st a bike enthusiast will do is cancel out ninja 650 if he/she is going to buy a half litre class bike because that bike is dog shit and Kawasaki's the only worst bike ever made.

The needs of both the riders must be taken in to consideration while purchasing the bike. Rarely, on youtube, the presenters bother about anything regarding pillion. But pillion rider concerns and their mentioning with discussions is the real highlight of your presentation! Keep it up!!👍

Hi , wanted to buy bike which shall cater both City use and travelling . I tested almost every bike in this segment . I came across many you tube review videos . Unfortunately no one is talking about the ease of handling the bike , it’s weight balance , turning comfort etc . I personally think one Sh be able to Controll the bike with utmost ease and comfort . These days most of the bikes are so heavy In weight and that to weight balance is poor when it comes to handling bikes at high speed .
I have seen many videos of both KTM 390 & BMW GS and personally went to take test for 2-3 times . Unfortunately no one talking about both bike turning radius and it’s ease of handling at any situation .
After riding both of them , BMW clearly stands out super easy to handle as compared to KTM 390 .
Turning radius of gs is way better than any bike in the market . For me ,turning radius matters a lot as far as handling the bike in city commute . At high speed and well balanced weight , it is so much easy to handle and Controll the bike .
Slight speed issue really doesn’t matter unless you are really in to some racing and all .
Finally , we have decided to go with GS , by no means any bike is even close to its manuvering ability . Power/ pick up / torque really doesn’t matter for those who has driven 2 stroke engines .
So for touring and city commute -
    first choice BMW GS
Second choice - KTM 390 or Suzuki V strom
    For city use only -
    First choice - BMW G310 R
Second choice - Suzuki V strom or KTM duke 250/390 ,

Himalayan and Hero XPulse 200 V4 is a hardcore off road bikes a hardcore off road bike has a spoked wheel not allows that's one major difference, coz you don't want your wheels cracking while jumping a Ditch do you. • @MysticRiderPrateek

If you have to simply sit & ride comfortably, soft Suspension is good...but With soft Suspension setup you cannot jump the bike(you would have seen off-road trainers doing it with KTMs), as when the bike lands on the ground there is probability of huge jerk impact which might injure your back.
That's why a bit stiff suspension is preferred for hardcore offroads where riders jump the bikes around big rocks, stones.

The soft suspension is not so good when going faster over bumpy roads. The rebound speed of the softer suspension is slower, so the suspension doesn't recover fully (think extending back fully) before you hit the next bump. So, you hit the next bump with the suspension in a sub-optimal state, transferring more impact force to the frame and to you. It is not only about jumping. It is mostly about going fast over bumpy terrain. You can ride more aggressively or faster over uneven roads with the firmer suspension. With the soft suspension, you have to slow down so that suspension can recover properly. With KTM 390 and GS 310, GS 310 has the worse suspension - on-road and off-road. On the road, GS suspension suffers in twisties, the soft suspension leads to an unstable front end. It kinda bounces and wallows when doing fast turns on the twisties. You lose confidence in its ability to hold a line, if you get my explanation. KTM is definitely better for rider confidence. It depends a lot on your riding style though.

  • @jessesebastiansamuel

Doesn’t 390 Adventure have fully tunable suspension? Which means that you can adjust the rebound and compression to your weight (+ pillion and luggage). If you have a suspension specialist in India, they should be able to tune it so well that this can become anybody’s dream bike. Suspension is so underrated and misunderstood!

I respect and appreciate your efforts and opinions. But I wouldn't agree with some points of yours that too with 300km ride vs 40k + km.
    1.Gs is way more comfortable
2.Softer suspension on highway and broken roads
3.Comfort that GS offer better than any under 5 lakhs.
4.Low end torque on GS and downshifts and stiffer climbs.
5.Easy overtakes on GS at speeds above 110-120 kmph.
    6.Saddling position on 390 Adventure
    My opinion
1.Both have different riding triangle and posture both being comfortable. Following points make alot of difference on comfort.
i)390 has more seating aids, heel guards for gripping the bike with your legs which is more important for an ADV to have.
ii)Footpegs are more wider and slanted with adjustablity on gear lever and brake lever.
iii)390 has more seat area which you have explained which means you have more room to play with depending on the terrain, tarmac , situation.
iv)Footrest position on pillion on 390 has more room and has a greater angle, even it has a heel guard to grip on.
v)Wind protection is better on 390 due handguards, windscreen.
    2. Softer suspension bounces, dives, sensitive to road surfaces.
The stiffer suspension bounces and dives less. Isn't sensitive to road surfaces holds line and makes bike more stable. Which means a stiffer suspension is better overall.
    3. Points 1 and 2 are answer to comfort.
    4. Low end torque has relation to climbs but you gave the answer yourself while taking about steep climbs. Gs has good mid range torque and you can compare 310gs torque graph with 390 adventure which clearly shows 390 having much more low end torque than 310.
    5. Overtakes are not that easy on GS at speeds above 100 110 kmph, they are easy at speeds around 80-90 kmph.
    6. Agree with fact that 390 has better saddling posture but the posture you displayed is total wrong. Heel guard is first grabbing point then around tank and depends on tarmac how you hunch down.

The KTM have to understand the Indian roads and market as well! He should rather introduce a new adventure pro model that would have everything. In India whichever manufacturing company sale most of the unit/year on the basis of "value for money".
Nowadays, people can afford 400/500 cc bikes so the company should update the bike not with cosmetics but with the real specifications like suspension, TCS, & a better windshield to protect the rider from wind blast..
