I find it funny how the older gentleman mentioned how the Americans took the land from the native people and how we relied heavily on slavery. I guess he forgot that the British were among the first to settle and displace the native people and the British were the ones that introduced us to the slave trade. He also seemed to forget that Great Britain had a huge impact on India, South Africa, and many other countries.

What you said is true, but you do realize that it was Americans and not the British who continued to perpetuate and uphold slavery for hundreds of years then after slavery it was Jim Crow and segregation. British humor is fantastic. I think of movies and TV shows. Monty Python, Hugh Laurie, Stephen Fry, Black Adder, Fawlty Towers. Isn't that British humor?
We are not as sarcastic to strangers. We are very ironic, but not nasty, unless we are with our close friends that know each other well and then it's for fun.
I have had sharp toothed sarcasm from a Brit and it comes across as condescension and mean spirited because I've never met them.
Some Brits will call that irony when in fact it's often vile sarcasm. We aren't stupid, mean spirited sarcasm cannot be hidden behind, " irony". They're bullshitting themselves!.
And Brits will be really sarcastically mean to one another and about the Monarchy. I find that shockingly vile towards one another is hard to listen to.

    Hey Lewis,
On the animal welfare/food safety side of things, I’m a professor at a university and focus on animal science. There are pretty strict laws and regulations on how we treat animals and what can be done to them. Everything is regulated by the government (USDA and FDA). Plastic in food is not a thing unless there’s an issue at a food processing facility, and then it is usually caught quickly and resolved. Overall, the US has one of the safest and most efficient food production systems in the world.

The last slave being found in 1941 in USA becs of peonage systems setup to replace the freed slaves. Where the police would make up reasons to arrest black ppl and charge them fines they couldn't pay then a plantation would pay the fee and the person would be a slave again. As soon as the fee would have been paid, new charges would "magically" appear. This is how the "prison" system til the day is disproportionate.

My Hubby LOOOVES Monty Python we both grew up on it. I honestly enjoy it more after a glass or two of wine!!!🍷🍷 We get British humor and LOVE IT and we LOVE the UK!!! but I’m sure there are some Americans that prefer things like the movie Dumb and Dumber which we found boring and stupid but that’s ok because I think humor is like music 🎶 some people prefer different kinds and we say live and let live. Enjoy what you enjoy! But people in the US definitely GET sarcasm Hollywood just often plays to the lowest common denominator and we get very forgettable shows and movies… I live for BritBox and Acorn! I prefer British shows because you get a hella lot more normal people and content… like Foyle’s War, Vera, Doc Martin, Prime Suspect, Sherlock (with Cumberbatch) , Shetland, Lewis, Happy Valley, Poirot, Miss Marple, Call the Midwife, Father Brown,, Are you Being Served, The Fall, Inspector Morse,
Keeping Up Appearances, Prime Suspect, Broadchurch
      Land Girls
, Silent Witness, Midsommer Murder,s Rosemary and Thyme, etc….
We love all kinds of music, humor and people. We have always known that stereotypes are rarely accurate and we think people are basically good and bad all over the world. As for obesity sorry but recent studies show that it’s a problem for a LARGE percentage of the world … and they obviously haven’t tasted our food!!! We’ve had food from all over the world and there’s a reason some people in the UK are a bit smaller than us… Sandwich Paste and Beans on Toast ?? Yuck!🤮😉

Um...Idk what part of the U.S. you're in, but I guess you don't pay attention to the reality that isn't shown to Americans openly. Look on youtube, & you'll find some reality. You must be very blessed to be protected from it. Not only does microplastic get into a lot of our food, but also bits of metal, rodents, insects, & human body parts...not to mention the neverending recalls on food that they keep finding deadly diseases in. Animals aren't protected by law. Abusers usually don't get felonies. Just misdemeanors. They deserve jail time, but only get some fine, & have to put in volunteer hours somewhere. Slaughterhouses constantly break laws of humanely killing. Instead they torture them, causing them great pain, injuries, & slow brutal suffering deaths. If we were so free, we wouldn't have to keep constantly fighting for it. And, how are you keeping your rights & freedoms nonviolent? I love that idea. But there's too many out there that are using violence. Racism is absolutely horrible! If it still exists, it's horrible. And actually, there's a lot of people running around with guns shooting others. Again, you must be able to afford living in a better place, because where I am, people get shot right outside my apt bldg almost every week. Because if you become disabled, old, & don't have anyone to help & take care of you, & were never rich, you have to suffer living in a ghetto around criminals until you're somehow able to get out. I've been trapped here for 9 years, & haven't found a way out yet. Don't speak for all of the U.S. because it's obvious you have been sheltered from many truths.
