  • Classic 4x4 is pleased to present this highly original and mechanically refurbished 1984 Jeep CJ-7 Renegade. The exterior is finished in Ice Blue Metallic with Renegade decals and the interior is finished in black. It is powered by a fuel injected 6 cylinder engine, 5 speed manual transmission and part time dual range transfer case. The five digit odometer shows 70,859 miles, true mileage is unknown. It steers effortlessly with power steering and cruising is enjoyed with a Bluetooth enabled Pioneer stereo system.
Built from 1976 to 1986, the CJ-7 was the last of the line for Jeeps that could trace their heritage back to the original World War II Jeeps. The CJ-7 was ten inches longer than its CJ-5 sibling and underneath that longer and more curved body was a chassis design consisting of two parallel longitudinal rails stepped out at the rear for increased stability. This CJ-7 was acquired by the current owner in 2022 for their collection and relocated to Pennsylvania.
The exterior presents itself nicely, finished in the rare one year only combination of 4C Ice Blue Metallic with Blue Version Two Renegade decals. The paint color correlates with the original trim tag and appears to be mostly original. It shows well with shine and depth, as it underwent paint correction and polishing under current ownership. The Blue Version Two Renegade decals also appear to be original and show a nice patina. 4C Ice Blue Metallic was only offered in 1984 and 1985 model year CJ-7s and Blue Version Two Renegade Decals were only offered in later production 1983 and 1984 model year CJ-7s, making this a one year only rare combination available in 1984. This CJ-7 appears to wear its original chrome wagon wheels and center caps with 31 x 10.5 BF Goodrich All Terrain K02 tires, replaced under current ownership. The hardtop and swing out tire carrier also appear to be original and show very well. The windshield and gasket were replaced under current ownership, the door and trunk seals and window seals, gaskets and sweeps are in good condition. The glass is in good condition and free of any cracks or chips.
The interior presents itself well with black vinyl Bestop replacement front seats, a rear black denim bench seat, which appears to be original, and a black denim roll bar pad. A Tuffy security locking center console protects the Pioneer MVH-S320BT Bluetooth Digital Media Receiver, installed under current ownership. Sound radiates through front dash mounted 5.25” speakers and rear sound wedge mounted 6x9 3 way speakers, also installed under current ownership. Under previous ownership, the interior of the tub was bed lined in black.
The Jeep is powered by a multi point fuel injected replacement rebuilt AMC 258 4.2L inline 6 cylinder engine paired to a replacement rebuilt Borg-Warner T5 5 speed manual transmission mated to a Dana 300 part time dual range transfer case. Power is sent to the wheels through a Dana 30 wide track front axle with manual locking hubs and an AMC 20 wide track rear axle. The engine exhales through performance headers and a Borla stainless steel exhaust. The engine, transmission, clutch, headers and exhaust were replaced under current ownership. The current owner replaced most of the steering components, including the power steering pump, high and low pressure lines, RedHead steering gear box, M.O.R.E heavy duty steering box mount, M.O.R.E steering brace, pitman arm, tie rod, drag link and bushings. In addition, under current ownership the Jeep went through a comprehensive maintenance regimen including replacing all the fluids, filters, belts, hoses and soft lines.
There are no known mechanical flaws, as the Jeep runs, drives, rides, shifts, steers and stops well. The only known cosmetic imperfections are normal wear and tear commensurate with age, pictured in the gallery and noted in the CarScore inspection report. The lights, gauges and heat are functional. The CarFax notes minor damage to the front drivers side on March 3, 2011. It has a clean and clear Pennsylvania title in the current owner’s name and comes with two sets of keys.
Classic 4x4 is marketing and representing the sale on behalf of the current owner and will assist with all questions, inquiries and nationwide transportation. Kindly contact Chris Picconi at 973-222-0135 or chris@classic4x4.com.
