    This is nice, I did not realise we could sub onto Oracle vinyl. A have a question about the glass, I see u did not heat it up a bit before putting it under the press, does the shock of the heat not crack it.
    Im trying to do glass bricks with a picture on, now i see that can work but not press the glass brick because it cracks. what way do u think i can bond that to the brick. is the oracle naturally sticky as sticker vinyl or heat reacted like the regular vinals
    A tip that may help u, I use baking (or silicone) paper to put onver the print on easisub and other stuff to prevent sticking or transfer, u should try it in place of the paper, it will just lift off.
    Another thought i have is to make tea trays using that vinyl, it can glass can be cut to size, i think it will work.

    • @matthewhutson7405
      @matthewhutson7405 ปีที่แล้ว

      I press the sub transfer paper direct onto the sticker by cutting out the shape and and printing with some bleed to help register. no need to stick the sticker onto the glass and then press it, Remove excess sticker from around the print area and press the sticker and transfer sheet between baking paper, wait till it cool then carefully peel the paper off when its cold to lift easier. Temp 350F for 25/30 sec. on drinking glasses u cannot put into a press because of the curves. Carefully line up and transfer the sticker onto the drinking glass. (Water may help to move the sticker into position.
      This method works well for me.

      That’s why I’m here looking for any tips on how to keep it from fading. Always looks amazing for about a month and then within a couple months the image is almost unrecognizable. I was going to try to maybe spray the vinyl side with lacquer after it’s sublimated or spray the glass with subliglaze before applying the vinyl. The latter I think will work better it just might be more difficult to apply the vinyl after spraying it with subliglaze. Anyone else have any tricks on how to keep from fading?

    What paper do you use for this? I tried 3 times and the paper I have seems to be the issue I think. It always ends up with wrinkles. Could I use these exact same steps to sublimate on wood? To make small signs?

    • @nancyeaguiar
      @nancyeaguiar 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      No, the reason to use vinyl is because it will sublimate through it and be visible on the other side. Glass works because it is transparent. For wood, you can use lamination film. Press lamination film onto wood. Once cooled, press the sublimation image on the laminated wood surface. For this one you have to mirror. You can search for videos on sublimation on wood using lamination film and you’ll have more info.

      When you say your pealing off the orical paper. Are you pealing the vinyl off the glass? The image doesn't transfer to the glass it stays in the vinyl. If you saying when you peal the paper with the image off there is no image on the vinyl its either not enough heat, not enough time or issue with the sublimation printing. Yes I need answers because I sale mine . What I've start doing is after I print my images and let dry I spray with mod podge clear acrylic sealer let dry but do it 3x's . So I'm waiting to see if that one fades . The other one is I left the sub paper affixed to the glass . Waiting to see what happens .

And haven't gotten a call about it fading . So from now on I use the orcal or laminate sheets . I heard that prevent fading on any items that's not submliate ready.

    Could you also use 651 transparent vinyl?

    • @judipalumbo
      @judipalumbo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      They all should be poly vinyl, the issue is the finished product. Using transparent will make the picture more transparent and not see much picture. The best way to know is to get a piece of glass or mirror from the dollar store and try it. Buy a cheap $1.00 picture frame at the dollar store and play with the glass and whatever you want to use for vinyl. Colored vinyl gives a hue effect of that color. I have seen some use a beige and it makes sort of like an old world effect.

    The image seems too light. You would have better results using laminate vs vinyl.
