Redfish is on my bucket list, I hung a good one a couple of years ago down on the Alabama coast and the knot pulled out of the hook.
Oh my goodness to lose a big red to an equipment malfunction would break my heart.
Maaannn I just threw my remote down I had a flashback when same thing happened to me
The last time I was down on the gulf coast. I looked up shrimp rigging and come across this. I simplified it and just tied the hook to the end of my line and added a couple of split shot about 14 inches or so from the hook. I was throwing it near the Dauphin Island bridge with live shrimp and it was pretty much set the hook as soon as the shrimp hit the bottom in about 3 feet of water. Speckled trout and both species of catfish as fast as you could get your line in the water. If you are around speckled trout or red fish you’d probably have the same luck. Fun day of fishing followed by a great buffet is right, we had a blast. Hitting a big jackpot would have been icing on the cake but we didn't lose any money so that's a good thing!

You can catch a Red Fish in fresh water
They just can’t Reproduce in Fresh Water
That’s why I’m San Antonio Texas
They have
Calaveras Lake Fresh water you can catch Bull Reds
And Braunig Lake also
Texas Parks & Wildlife stock it every two years with over 1 million Small Reds About 6”
So you can catch a Red Fish in fresh water but
they just can’t reproduce in fresh water. Now that's why I like doing this TH-cam thing. That is good information I was unaware of. We visit San Antonio occasionally so I wrote down Calaveras and Braunig lakes so next time I'm there I can possibly fish them. Thank you so much for sharing that good info. I think it is called the Epic Buffet restaurant in the Hollywood Casino in Bay St. Louis MS. If you go there be prepared for a long wait the line was super long.
