Simon the Sorcerer on the CD32 was a great game, people slag the CD32 of now for not being powerful enough, but back then having CD-ROM was a total transformation, especially the immersion it added to point and click adventures like Simon The Sorcerer, and Beneath a Steel Sky, it was like the difference between night and day. The A500+ was my first computer and I remember being torn between getting the CD32 and A1200 one Christmas ... I have absolutely no regrets getting the CD32 a year before the A1200. I unfortunately missed out on some of those titles on your list, but my own top 10 CD32 games as played back in the day. 10. Trivial Pursuit 9. Liberation 8. Diggers 7. James Pond 2 6. Pinball Illusions 5. Universe 4. Wing Commander 3. Beneath a Steel Sky 2. Frontier: Elite II 1. Simon the Sorcerer
Got up this morning in canada . Woke up thinking about when i was a kid. Im 43 now and i remember the old days at my cuz's house he had commadore 64 with tons of floppy disc games. I come on here to see what was out for console and games bak then and seen you 32 amiga. I just wanna say ghank u for taking me back to a day when things were simple and exciting to see new tech. Them were the days. Thank u . I subbed and i can tell u have compassion for retro tech and the old school days. Thumbs up and total respect. May u succeed. :-)
I memory serves correctly when you installed Liberation (A1200/A4000) it gave you options on how graphically/CPU intensive it would be (I believe it did pre-calculations for the 3D models) so If you choose the minimum you lost the stairs among other details.
FM Towns Marty used a 386SX, which despite having a 32 bit core is a 16-bit processor externally. Now I have heard the argument that because the 386 was designed to be 32 bit that it magically makes it so...... well if that the case then the 68000 is also 32 bit!! in which case the MegaDrive/Genesis was released in 1988 beating it by quite a margin.
I been taking interest in Amiga for a while now. Your number one pick looks cool. Also the one that looks like rtype. That game looks sweet. Cool video man! cheers!
No Pinball Fantasies, Banshee, Brian the Lion, Flink, UFO - Enemy Unknown, Defender Of The Crown II, Beneath A Steel Sky, Subwar 2050, Pirates! Gold, Worms...?
Lol I think I remember that Heimdall 2 also existed on Sega CD" But to be honest, the Amiga CD 32 somehow doesn't ride me. Although I am a collector myself and rather a Sega and Nintendo fan and own a lot of consoles and games of it myself. But I think if I wanted to have an Amiga I would rather get a 500, liked this console or rather games computer more" and good games there were too many for that.
Superfrog was awesome!!! but i owned it on a1200 (and have it in my top amiga games vids) Gloom was just beyond terrible, it was soooo bad. We looked at PC people playing Doom back then .... then we powered up Gloom and cried! :D
@@cruachankeith If Gloom was someone's first exposure to the FPS genre, I could understand the love. Catacomb Abyss has a special place in my games collection for that reason. We first played Gloom a few years ago. It definitely hasnt aged well and if given the choice between playing Zero Tolerance for the Genesis (a game that's pretty rough too), I'd pick Zero Tolerance. Gloom is a fitting name given that's how you'll feel playing it. Feel sorry for you Amiga owners who had Gloom instead of Doom and othet DOS titles of the FPS genre.
Lets quantify failure! It was literally sold out everywhere (worldwide) it was available (Commodore couldn't produce enough units!). The first year it was released, over the christmas period (only year) it was the number 1 CD gaming system in the UK, it's games outsold the next two systems combined (PC CD and Mega CD). And yes it was the first 32-bit console (68020 is a 32 bit processor) The Marty used a 386SX which has a 16 bit data bus (the 386DX has a 32 bus data bus) so if the argument is that the 386 was internally 32 bit then the 68000 used in the Sega Genesis/MegaDrive (released in 1988) was also 32 bit.
I have never played any of these games. I'm completely oblivious to everything on this list here. A Space Harrier type game inside some important dude's body?? Sign me up! You gotta hook this console up sometime and let me have a gander at it.. The controller looks shiiiiiite!
You had an CD-32? Posh Boy :P Deep Core looks like Gods with a SCI-Fi wrapper in it, the movements of the main characters look very similar. A Graphic Adventure with a joypad. Cumbersome. I didn't play Disposable Hero but it looks great. I played that but I preferred games such as Lotus Turbo Challenge. Castles II looks great, for the animated scenes between game play anyhow. Microcosm almost looks like you could be clearing the piles out of some guy hahaha. Fancy graphics indeed. Heimdall 2. I haven't played any of them but it looks entertaining and a game I'd like. I haven't played 3 and 2. I played Simon The Sorcerer on P.C. and it's great. The humour reminded me a bit of Monkey Island which is another great game. Seeing Microcosm the graphics made me think of Stardust, what did you think of that? The opening of Liberation Captive 2 made me think of Syndicate. What do think of that too? Great list Keith. Interesting to see as it was a console I didn't have myself, to be honest I didn't really know of about it at the time. I was playing the Super Nintendo then. I had an Amiga 500 which is a great machine. Cheers Keith.
cheers owen, you could use a standard mouse in the cd32 so adventure games were fine. yeah, stardust was good, it was just asteroids though. Syndicate was class, I have that in my other amiga top 20 video from 20 to 11
@@cruachankeithThat's handy you could use a mouse. I tried playing the Sega CD version of The Secret Of Monkey Island on an emulator with just a USB Joypad and that was awkward Yes indeed, Stardust was Asteroids in a VERY fancy suit. I would be interested to see what your favourite Graphic Adventures are :D Thanks Keith.
Your video is well done but man, your list... Would be perfectly fine if you name it: my personal top 10 but starting an introduction of a game with words like "average", just makes no sense in a top 10 showcase. And that's a bit sad, cause the cd32 has some brilliant games, worth playing today like Chaos Engine, Alien Breed, Banshee, D/generation, Erben der Erde, Beneath the steel sky, Flink.
no matter what list you read it still boils down to someone's personal opinion, what were you expecting? that a small youtuber somehow is the official cd32 top ten? plus the cd32 games were the epitome of average and disappointing, all amiga re-releases. as an owner back in the day, i was disappointed.
@@cruachankeith Thanks for the reply. You are right, back in the 90 it was disappointing (I couldn't afford it at the time). But nowadays it is great to select from a range of 150+ games, picking out the best of the best and enjoying them on an old TV. Lot's of them have aged better then some of the n64 games. Nevertheless, I like watching your videos. Good luck with it.
I agree with your list. Literally I got no other games for that system😅Other question: where can I order your Cruachan Zippers? It's hard to get Cruachan Merch in Germany...
Jaguar was technically 64 bit but was so hard to program for that most developers just ported 16 bit games to it. That said, there is actually a handful of great games for it. I love my Jaguar
Excellent list. Amiga has so many hidden gems.
Jetstrike? Pinball dreams or illusions? Cannon fodder? Syndicate? Flink? All of those games are better than microcosm

I really enjoyed Super Stardust on my cd32. Amazing graphics and audio.
nice video, thanks! you had better games than us, we only had Diggers and 'The Labyrinth of Time'... that game was mental
My friend had the 1200 version of liberation and there were some differences like the steps changed to ramps.
oh really??? cheers, i've actually never heard of any differences

The FM Towns Marty was the first (February 20, 1993) but only in Japan.
Ah yes, Neil Morrissey as Trill :-)
+1 for Simon

thanks for the memories man! had no idea that was Rimmer in Simon the Sorcerer, what a crack up. Its so obvious now i know. Good one!

Prefer the snes version of Achicken. Smooth 60fps.

I think I can skip this console
Honestly though...if these games were on the SNES...they would be the 10 worst games on that system...what a shit system...
U outta be ashamed of yourself for spreading misinformation
