      Have you listen or read the book, Waiting To Exhale? The book is really, really good & has more to it, than the actually movie. If you haven't, watch the movie first, then listen or read the book. I preffer physical book. I'm not a fan of audible books. I love collecting books. Not just anyone tho. I might checkout Audible. Still thinking about it.

      I wish the orphanage had taken that behavior as an excuse to investigate things before they allowed a convicted felon and a man who has already given up his parental rights once to have these 2 kids. Especially considering they've seen their progression while they had them. They were likely solemn kids with barely any sign of healthy attachments, having broken spirits, and hardly known love. As time went by they likely opened up and became more relaxed and enjoyed their time there. Then, when faced with the possibility of going home with their parents (something I'm sure so many of the other kids would have killed to be able to do) they not only refuse to go but become a mess when they're told they don't get to choose; they HAVE to go with them and it doesn't matter how awful their parents treated them or if they continue to treat them so badly. They're the parents, so there's nothing anyone can do. Today, I'd hope social workers would be involved to make sure everything is on the level when they got the kids back and continued to check in until they were satisfied that things were okay. That's why we have those systems, and even though they're flawed af and don't always catch everything, this would've been one of those obvious neglect cases.

    • @martahajduk
      @martahajduk 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I can't stop thinking about that. How come no one started any investigation at this point. You shouldn't be able to drop off your kids at the orphanage and pick them up 2 years later just like that. System failed them at this point. They might have been a different people now

    Being preyed upon at AA/NA meetings is incredibly common for both the recovering addict and their (codependent) family members. I don’t know what the minimum age is in my country, but looking at my level of maturity at 18, I feel like it should be 21 or something. I mean I wasn’t exactly immature back then, but being fresh out of high school I definitely was still a kid in terms of naïveté and innocence. You only just turned 18 and haven’t had much chance to get to know who you are as an adult and how to handle your life and responsibilities on your own. I understand wanting to serve your country or doing something meaningful, but maybe wait and get to know yourself a bit better? Especially considering how high stress and dangerous it can be/is and how it can affect your mental health for the rest of your life.

    I had a crappy upbringing, all kinds of abuse, but thank goodness they fed me. Never once have I thought 'Well, I'll just shoot them' meaning anyone. I left home graduation day, at 16 years old from high school as the law in Texas says you are then an adult & can legally leave (I ran away a few times but they always catch you & bring you back home). My step-father threatened to kill my boyfriend, why, I will never know. After many years we were able to have a somewhat civil relationship and when my mother passed I fell apart for a while. Always wished we could have had a good relationship. I feel sorry for children who had to fend for themselves & not be fed. This can also effect brain development. Cheers for the story & have a great week! xx

    My daughter just now turned six and I could never imagine how she would feel seeing what happened to that little boy‘s mom and then just getting thrown on a bus!? Like WHAT!? That makes me so angry and so sad at the same time knowing that I have a child that age… I also have a 15-year-old daughter who ask me all the time if I remember things that happened when she was four years old!! For example she asked me the other week if I remembered her and her cousin going outside and playing in the mud after it stopped raining and me having to put both of them in the shower with their clothes on just to get the mud off of them and out of their clothes. Even I myself can remember things from when I was five and six years old better than I can remember what I did a couple weeks ago.

      OMG YES CROWLEY! such a crazy weird life that kook had! but he was so much more than "dark magic, the illuminati, thelema, drugs, and sex cults" sure he was progressive, a free thinker, creative and a lover of the arts and led a sexually free fluid and open life during a time when those types of things were frowned upon. people called him "the beast" bc what he was involved in was so new and foreign to them it likely scared them when in actuality he never hurt anyone or sacrificed them to the devil and all that ridiculous gossip. he was bisexual and didn't gaf what anyone thought about his life choices. he wrote stories and poetry and traveled the world with various lovers both male and female and just bc people disagreed w his lifestyle the rumors of black magic and torture and evil started. the drugs and sex were true as he was heavily
      addicted to coke and heroin (but the addictive dangers of those drugs weren't made clear back then so he found himself stuck and unable
      to conquer them) and he came up with spells he performed with others that involved what he called "sex magick" so one only can speculate what that entailed lol. but yes his life has always fascinated me i'd love to get a deep
      dive on him!

I would love to see an interview with someone who was in his cult, or who was still a follower of his. In the Scariest Places on Earth episode that I saw about him, 2 of Crowley's current followers shower the interviewer where some of the current cult members still go in Italy. Some still use his Thelema Abbey for rituals, spells, etc. There was evidence of fresh candle wax, alcohol bottles, etc. Does this mean they were doing something evil? Hardly. But that's why I would like to see an interview with a cult member, so we can get the real inside story

    Maybe it's because I was adopted that I wonder why Danielle didn't include the baby girl Brookey had with Ron who was put up for adoption as a victim. I assume the adoption went well, but the child still grew up without her parents. I was only three months old when I was adopted and have no memories of my mother or my father. I was lucky that my twin sister, with assistance, found our birth family. Perhaps this child will not be scarred by the adoption as some adopted children but again I assume we will never know.

    • @aviatrix7774
      @aviatrix7774 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Adoption is usually considered a selfless gift from the birth parents, realizing they're not prepared to raise a child and placing them in a more stable home. Saying that the child is a victim would give all parents who place their kids for adoption a negative connotation. I'd say she would be a victim if she had stayed with Brookey (assuming the adoption went well, as you said).

    Just in time for me to start cleaning! Perfect! Two true crime books I've read lately that I liked were Slenderman by Kathleen Hale and Small Sacrifices by Ann Rule! Recommend!

    I love your show. I grew up in San Antonio, Texas. I also have a case you can look into that very interesting, Alligator Man of Elmendorf. He owned an old Salon and I Know where this building still stands. I have been on the property and the eerie feeling you get inside the building and on the property. The Salon is now a house, still in Elmendorf, Texas south of San Antonio

    I've attended deaths and dead bodies, waiting for the coroner etc, and I've never seen a blow fly come that fast. Love your vids!!!

    Check out the case of Lacey Ellen Fletcher! It is a recent case, but what those parents did to that poor girl breaks my heart. Love your videos and the merch! My hoodie just came in :)
