I think both have different characteristics. I ride a 2013 Ninja 300, the scream and the power when you rev it to 13K, it's a different experience .. if you compare it to Ninja 650 twin engine.. that's why I chose Ninja 300 then ... Even though it was close to 4 lac on road then... And I have enjoyed every twist of throttle on it till day 😇

You said that it's a VFM machine in terms of pricing but I've heard that it's quite expensive to maintain.
Some forums even suggest that it's service cost is also higher as compared to CBR650R
Yes that is correct. I pay around 7k per service which is around 14k per year. Honda service is cheaper but other items like tires and after market accessories the costing is similar.
It's just sad that bikes like this are treated as premium in our country

No. No ABS on a bike that can do 200 kph is not great. Another bigger issue is that the pre 2017 bikes had bad brakes. Very weak. So no ABS + bad brakes is a recepie for disaster. Either up your budget for a 2017 bike with ABS or choose another bike. I almost died a few weeks back majorly because of my stupidity but ABS saved my ass when I would have died on a bike with worse brakes.

The pricing is fantastic but I think the figures are underwhelming. I mean both the R3 and RC390 Produce 40 bhp and 30 plus torque so I expected a 650 to have better performance figures.
The main difference is the power delivery. You get power in almost every gear. With the RC390 it has very little low end torque so if you are in the wrong gear you have to downshift a low to get to the proper power band. The Z650 which I ride is extremely flickable due to the insane torque. Overtaking is just so easy. Though in a drag race with a RC390 I will be barely ahead but that is true for almost any bike less than 10 lakhs. The RC390 is simply extreme VFM in performance but its poor low end torque is a downer.
@@brendonfernandes2877 Good points. Think the extra fairing or perhaps the setup makes the Ninja 650 less flickable than the Z (street setup vs a more sporty setup?). I guess I was looking at it from a money vs big bike perspective. The R3 will cost me ~4L, if I double my budget to a Z or Ninja, not sure if it’s worth my time. But at 10L mark there’s a noticeable difference I think (as you’ve already said).
@@darthravo The R3 used to be 4.5l on road in the past. Now it will surely be around 5l+ easily. And the R3 is a good bike no doubt but the Ninja 400 is the real competitor to the R3. The R3 is also more of a sports bike with more committed ergos while this is a sports tourer with more relaxed ergos.
@@brendonfernandes2877 Yeah I’m not my sure if at 5L R3 will be worthwhile, it’s already quite a bit pricey (though also better than the competition). Also considering rumours that the upcoming 2021 Ninja 400 will actually be reasonably priced (~ ex showroom price of 5L) and if it continues to uphold its sporty character, think the 400 will become the go to option for most people in this price range, probably myself included, considering VFM. However to be seen if they’ll bring it to India considering poor response to the current 400.

There are techniques to lift heavy bikes. At 200 kg its not even that heavy. Try lifting a BMW R 1250 GS or a Harley Fatboy. Those are really heavy and big bikes.

@@KiddosF9 Of course. But BMW takes that to a whole new level. The Z900 is faster than the BMW and a lot cheaper. Plus the in line 4 motor has character unlike the bland twin in the BMW f900r. The BMW is more suited for people who just want the BMW badge. There are a lot better options available for cheaper than the BMW including the Street triple 765 r. The Chinese sourced engine in the BMW is a very boring engine.
@@brendonfernandes2877 much faster ok accpeted. Bikes aren't only meant to go faster , it depends on various people's likings . For my purpose f900r was a good choice so i opted for one. Its a nyz machine for indian roads. Build quality of the bike is just awesome. Atleast for me f900r is a good choice
@@KiddosF9The F900r by itself is a very good bike as honestly there is no real weakness other than the pricing. Every brand has a big USP which people buy into. For Triumph its the screaming in line 3 engines found in bikes like the Street Triple or Tiger range, for Kawasaki its the butter smooth in line 4 engines found in the Z900, Ninja 1000, ZX10r etc and for BMW its their famed boxer engines. The main competitors of the BMW F900r have their house specialty engines like the Striple and Z900 but the BMW F900r still uses a bored version of the F750/F850 parallel twin engine which isn't made by BMW but is outsourced. The engine isn't bad at all but its mostly characterless like my Z650. Now at the price my Z650 sells at I couldn't afford an in line 4 or 3 cylinder engine bike so I have to be satisfied with the generic engine but at the price the BMW sells at you can actually buy bikes with a certain character. Hence that's why I said the VFM factor is sadly missing in the BMW F900r. Its a great bike no question but when compared to the competition it does fall a bit short especially in the engine department which is something most people will look at first.
