Well played. Whenever I'm in the lead in 3 man I always run away, so I think it was absolutely correct to full fold there. Your priority is staying in first place no matter what, so you wanna avoid dealing in.
Sometimes I flip flop and ride the border if and only if they have played the tiles before. However, I must admit. There have been times during this series where I have flown too close to the sun and got hit by thirteen orphans 😅
