    Are those vehicles designed to run on rails only? Or they are just rebuilt autos?

      +MultiMusicianman Thanks! They are interesting little things. They come around every year or so. Just keep an eye on the NEREX website next year to see when they're coming

    just curious why didnt the railroad crossing gates go down when they passed by?

    • @TheViRoCo
      @TheViRoCo  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +yoursweetheart85 I think because they don't weigh as much as a locomotive, so it doesn't trigger the crossing.

    • @yoursweetheart85
      @yoursweetheart85 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah just like the pickup trucks they use on the tracks too.

    • @carlmeserve154
      @carlmeserve154 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yoursweetheart85 it's because the wheels are insulated and train wheels are not there fore the current can't pass through the axle

      Being a "rail productions," you should know better than that. Weight has nothing to do with it. It's shorting the two rails together that triggers the crossing signals. The speeder wheels aren't electrically connected from one side to the other - they are insulated from one another - so the crossings aren't triggered. This was by design, since the railroad companies used these cars to inspect track, often at grade crossings. They wouldn't want the signals to operate every time a speeder was on the track.

      @@TheViRoCo The Wheel hubs and brake shoes are insulated so they will not activate gates. Otherwise they would. These cars were built originally for railroad maintenance, and are designed that way on purpose so workers could work around signals without setting them off. BTW: I am the operator of the Fairmont M9 open car Maine Central M-75 in your video! Thanks for the memories!
