Great Video. Our 2008 Hummer H3 had the FOB's stop working years ago, then the TPMS warnings came it. We replaced the battery in the FOB which did not help. Last year the car battery started failing and was replaced 3 times in 15 months (two replacements under battery warranty). Not being a mechanic, we recently took it to the dealership. They started to sell us a new FOB (plus programming), but then claimed that the BCM was corroded and need replaced. (We'd had a sunroof leak in the area years ago, and apparently this is a "common" corrosion problem later). Then they called and stated that there were no BCMs available through any of their parts sources and that they could not work on it. At least they didn't charge us for this! They also will not work on it with aftermarket or used parts even if I obtain them. Anyway, I started to search for a replacement BCM and they are correct, there are not many, if any available...and the ones that were previously were expensive as you noted. Do you believe that a bad BCM will discharge and damage a car battery? More importantly do you happen to have a good source of Hummer Parts that you'd recommend? Other than that, the H3 is in good shape, looks nice with less than 90K miles on it. THANKS AGAIN!!
Ron, I had the same issues, for 3 years the FOB's wouldn't work, and diagnostic tool couldn't communicate with the BCM, GM dealer said it looked like the BCM was bad. I took out the BCM, found it was clean and not damaged by the leaky sunroof. The solution for me ended up being to disconnect the battery, clamp to the 2 cables together, pulled fuses 68, 21, 6, and 8 (see underside of fusebox lid for locations), then let it sit for 20 minutes. I put it all back together and amazingly the FOBs started to work, and resolved some issue with the power windows. Give it a shot and fingers crossed it works.
Thanks for the video. It saved me from an expensive repair at GM. I solved the contact problems with the contact 60 spray, of course not with the antenna plug. I also bent it a little. now it sits snugly again.
Mine had the same problem often it would work and sometimes it wouldn't I even changed the batteries but still wouldn't work so this video is very informative
Thank you so much for this informative video! I have the exact same vehicle as you with the same problem and this video helped me fix it! I'm sure this saved me lots of money and it was a fairly easy fix! Thank you so much for posting!
Great video, thanks for the info. Could not help but to laugh "be careful with this as it is very expensive" and you then proceed to drop it a half dozen times onto the plastic housing. Perhaps a cheap tripod is needed. I do not think I could have pulled it apart with one hand though. Good job.
Just picked up an 06 today. Service TPMS was on the dash and I found out that the fobs didn’t work when I got home and tried to lock it. Hope this works. If it does, thank you!
Unfortunately, this did not work for me. New fob batteries, attended to the antenna.. I do believe that my BCM has gone out. My solution? I’ve purchased a viper car alarm with remote start for $89. I’ll be installing it myself. New fob. No BCM required!
Dielectric grease is non conductive so I’m curious as to why that helped the first time 😅🤓. My windows won’t roll and my wipers aren’t working so I’m about to tear into mine and see if everything looks alright. I had a sunroom leak last year that I fixed so im wondering if there is corrosion in there 🙄
Hi Eric! I did not find a video about the rear suspension in your list. Could you share please how you modified the rear shock absorber mounts? I am annoyed by the protruding paws of the rear attachment. There is always something stuck in a rut... ... About keyless. I soldered an ordinary TV cable with a connector to the control box and connected it to the shark fin antenna on the roof. Replaced key fobs with modern ones. from 50 meters the car can be opened / closed ...
Thank You - Scott - Perth Western Australia - My problem is that the doors on the left side lock, but the doors on the right do not lock when I use the Remote - the problem just started. Thanks
Sorry to hear about your issues there, I think those are bit to complicated to be solved over the internet. But I would check the connection be the battery for the wiring harness. I had a pin go bad in there resulting in the fuel pump not receiving power.
He Man great video, my Hummer shows the TPM on and off randomly. I already had it checked with a tire shop and they tell me the batteries are still good, you think what you did here would fix my issue?
Your lighting was horrible. I could not really see what you were doing once you got to the BCM. I couldn't see the blower motor at all but I did like and appreciate your video because I learned something. I will stay tuned for your next video. Thanks for sharing.
Hi,can that be the same problem..my hummer has Serv Temp on off Doors both flashing back and forth. It does make the hummer sound odd look and unlock door noise when driving so ownoing. How to fix that??? Your video us great
@@Schwarttzy Now I know mine should beep. It’s 08. My horn works great. Haven’t found if there a sequence of buttons so you can turn on or off. Thanks for the quick reply! 👍
I HAVE BEEN SCOURING THE FUCKING INTERNET FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM. if this fixes it im gonna lose my shit😂. But my shit was working fine and then the tpms thing came on the dashboard, and my distance got closer and closer until i got locked out of the truck while getting pizza. I then went to replace the lock on the door bcus its broken and my driver door wont open now, so i have to rip it apart tomorrow to fix this problem... then i will do this trick and then clean the throttle body to hopefully stop the slight hesitation that just started on startup... and the problems will all be over.... 3 little problems left

My Wife just found your video and I will try this tomorrow … thanks for the information 👍🏾👍🏾
Did it work?
Your the man!!! Pulled my bcm little corrosion, sprayed w electric cleaner and scrubbed. Remote works again!!
Glad I could help

Ah! That's great! I know it was frustrating for myself
Will have to try this. Been having the same problem. Thank you

Are you talking about the High Clearance Leaf Spring Bolts? schwarttzy.com/product/h3-hummer-high-clearance-leaf-spring-bolt-plate/
@@Schwarttzy, many thanks, great! 🤝
Friend... the shark fin antenna you are talking about, is it the same one you use for the signal from your car stereo?
Your house looks exactly as mine ...same color etc !!
Must be in Florida then!? But ironically we moved again, found a house with much better layout and a lot better trails to walk on.
@@Schwarttzy Yup in Florida

Thanks man, awesome video
Thanks so much working on mine right now
No problem, did it work out for you?
4.6k views, and only 115 likes? Geez people can’t even like a video that helps them. Thanks for the video, and maybe you can make a lift kit.
Thanks Bro you aré amazing
Welcome 😊
Do you think would be same for a 2006 H3?
Of course, it should be exactly the same
It would be good if we could see what you're doing. You were popping connections and wired but we can't see what you were fumbling with.

Too much talking
Good info! How did you get horn to beep when you lock your Hummer? Mine only flashes parking light, no horn beep.
The 2006 & 2008 H3 Hummer both beep the horn when I press the lock button. I would look for a bad relay or something... maybe the horn doesn't work?
@@Schwarttzy Now I know mine should beep. It’s 08. My horn works great. Haven’t found if there a sequence of buttons so you can turn on or off. Thanks for the quick reply! 👍
Check your manual. There's instructions in there that show you how to change the horn beep when locking. I just did it to mine yesterday.
How did you fix the phone mic? Also what radio do I need to replace my factory one with? Great video
Prob a setting thru the factory radio.
