Replacing Foam Pipe Insulation On Outdoor Air Conditioning Unit

Today I'm replacing foam pipe insultation for an a/c unit that did not meet city code, due to weathering and age. This unit utilizes 3/4 diameter foam pipe insulation. Consider replacing the foam insulation will a pool noodle. The pool noodle has a higher density and provides a greater insulation value for about $2.00 at a dollar st.

I just replaced mine, then saw this video... my pipe has almost 100% sun exposure in super hot temps here... and the builders install didn't even last a year, and I didn't know it needed to be done until a few days ago... it has been 2 years. When I did mine, I did put that UV Blocking tape on, but I covered the whole line with it (not the thermostat line)... why did you not do that? And did I make a mistake by covering mine completely so it lasts longer?

Is important to get some of the condenser line inside the unit when you remove the exterior door latch?

My unit has a lot of sun exposure and the insulations adhesive seam can fail prompting me to use the HVAC UV-resistant line set tape (such as ShurTape) over the entire seam. We’ll see how that goes.

In my case is my home, so i did a full cover with the tape ,over the insulation tube,
Now after is done, will it affect the a/c copper pipe, like to tight?

Is the foam supposed to fit the pipe snug? I think my foam has a slightly bigger diameter than the pipe so there is probably a pocket of air inside.

I see they make at least 3 different sizes depending on the size of your specific line.
