I truly enjoy these videos..I started last February and over the summer saw a change for the better. It paid off as I was able to harvest a nice buck. Now all I do and think about is how to improve my hunting property. I have watering holes dug out to hinge cutting, bedding areas that I never enter except in the early spring and summer to clean up. Thanks again for all your work and knowledge passed on to us all

This is hilarious... even if you could tell deer where to lay and what trail to use... what fun is there in hunting them then?

oh my god this vid is actually really informational it is 10:00 pm for me right now and since 1:00pm I have been searching and searching for ways to make bedding most vids tell you what they did or what you need to do NOT HOW TO DO IT, how am I suppose to do this thing you are telling me to do without telling me HOW TO DO IT, but this vid gives you different scenarios, how to make the beds, how to get them to use the beds, and even gives you the reasons why you need to do these certain things.

Do you have better success hunting the deer leaving the bedding area or coming back to it?

I have to thank you.I have a small 20 acre lot I can hunt and I can't hinge cut,but there is a hill with Laurel on the edge of it and I was able to work with that.i would get a brush pile and put it behind the Laurel and then I would put old lawn clippings down to act as hay or something warm for the deer to lay on.it didn't take bucks long to find it.its amazing that last year I hunted 2 times every week from september 15-janruary.and I came up with 4 buck sightings, the biggest a 6 point.BUT after doing that from November of 2016 on I saw a buck every day rise out of the bedding.Everything from spikes to 11 points.Thakyou

This is so cool to know cuz I make deer nests all all around the property. I just use natural limbs sometimes cut logs. And I make sort of like tee pee lean-tos, against a single trade. They like the sunny out of the wind side of The Hill in the winter. They like to be able to see each other when they're resting and to be able to spot coyotes. Each nest has to have a few escapes, and case attacked by coyote. Recently one of the yearlings had her tail bit off most likely by a coyote, and this little sweetheart took to my gazebo fort down in the woods, I pulled some nice soft tall wood grass, and made her a nice place in there. And she's in there everyday. Her tail has healed up and I call her Bobby. No bucks thus far cuz he is staying at the other side of the farm, he has his territory but I did dress up his natural bedding places. But since the acorns are falling he ain't laying down much LOL. He's a beauty, five point this year. Probably just 2 years old. Great video, glad to see people work with wildlife.

What do you "spray" when you spray down a bedding area so the doe want to bed down? We are on under 10 acres, is that enough spot?

This is what I wanted to know too. Seems like something to kill the plants like roundup but surely that's not a good idea.

      SWEET JESUS CHRIST!
Haven't they learned anything from the use of Glyphosate!
I'm impressed by the knowledge of managing deer, but the use of any type of glyphosate defoileante, other than vinegar or baking soda to change the ph, is absolutely INSANE!
Glyphosate has been banned in the EU, Hawaii, Central and South America and other parts of the world.
If you want to continue to contaminate the land, water for short term gains and witness birth defects in animals and humans, well you go right ahead.
Just ask the people of Vietnam about Agent Orange and birth defects.
While we're at it, look into birth defects caused by depleted uranium munitions in Iraq. We're dropping tons of that SHIT!
When he kept saying, "Sprayed" my heart sank.
Time to wake up and smell the Coffee!

Looks like you would do more damage stinking up ur bedding areas, I can see making bedding areas just not the bed, I would think they would do that themselves.

A fine collection of barber chairs. It would be ironic if you killed yourself trying to create great habitat to hunt deer.

Wait....rutting buck with all that foliage? You must be down south? Rut in my neck will not have greenery like that!
Question: how well do poplars hinge? Do they last long after hinge?

    • @davidcawrowl3865
      @davidcawrowl3865 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Chinese Tallow ( a type of poplar) do alright with hinge cuts, but only need 50-55 % cut into the tree instead of 70-75 % as they are pretty brittle and will break right off.
