In this price range, the JMGO N1 Ultra is still hands down the best 4k smart projector currently on the market. Best picture, best brightness, best contrast, best gimbal based adjustments, no clunky stands to lug around. It's triple color laser projects a crystal clear 200" image directly on my matte wall, no screen needed, with the curtains all up in a bright and sunny open space livingroom. Picture quality looks so close to my LG C3 65" oled tv it's actually insane. I've had it for 4 months now from Amazon. I have not seen a single laser speckle.
Don't you have issue if you use keystone correction? On my N1 Pro it ruins the image completely (making the whole gimbal thing useless in the process by the way).
Man, the complications between the screen, room light etc make me really think I should just go with a BIG TV. However I have to admit some of the popup screen options are amazing now.
Thanks for your in depth review. This explains why I never noticed the speckle. I am using the matte white Elite Screens Manual B, with 1.1 gain. Apparently I just lucked out, as I bought the screen before the projector. 😁
Just to add to this, I also got the cheap Elite Screens Manual (but the current 2024 version) and laser speckle is basically a non-issue. You can only see it if you are very close to the screen and look out for it. Highly recommended combination, especially for the price of 100€/$.

If they could keep a comparable or better contrast level and kill speckle at the cost of a little color space coverage, so be it. Anyway, my friends and I have really been enjoying backyard movie night on a 150” screen 😁 Probably the last question I’ll ask about the N1U: does yours suffer from color fringing? I see it most clearly on white text with a dark background. Very distracting in Legend of Zelda TOTK. The top of the text is red and the bottom is green (image is in flipped mode). Maybe my unit has a misaligned prism or something?
Hi is it possible to get the contrast and colours similar on the white screen to match the grey screens or will you lose too much brightness, thanks for the great reviews..
I was checking the Silverticket screen you recommended. Is it this specific one? STR-169110 Silver Ticket, 110" 16:9 4K / 8K Fixed Frame Projector Screen, White Material
Does this have a hd capacity limitation? I have the Xgimi Horizon Pro 4K and it has a limitatiin of 4tb. It won't recognize any hd over 4tb. Very inconvenient.
Are the little squares that you see on the screen in the 1080 version when you get close to it also seen in the ultra version when you get close enough to the screen?
Hi could you recommended an electric ceiling budget screen for the jmgo n1 about 84 inches? I’ve been searching but having trouble finding a budget friendly option with this material
Hello, I bought 3 laser projector(Vidda c1pro) and was devastated by laser speckles. I have matte gray screen and thought it won't bother me, but speckles were horrible. I'm returning it. Now that you have tested Jmgo N1 ultra can you still recommend Formovie X5? Thanks!
I personally do not think so. The JMGO has extremely "punchy" color, which you won't get with the X5, but I actually prefer the X5's overall image to the JMGO.
Yes, that video will be out either September 14th or 15th. It will also have the Hisense C1 and Nomvdic P1000 as well as the JMGO N1 Ultra and Formovie X5 to compare.
@thehookup ive had the N1 Ultra for a few months ago, very satisfied so far. Curious if you plan on reviewing the newly released N1S ultimate? I think its worth a side by side comparison with the original N1Ultra and test out the 3500 ANSI lumen claimed.
I'm projecting onto a silver ticket grey screen, don't notice any speckle. I would like to go larger but wondering if i should go with silver ticket matte white or stick to grey? Would the white hurt the contrast/black level? Thanks
Different projectors… and from different age, we could say…you’ve primarily to focus on the installation, because 4010 will have better blacks IF put in the right ambient, without reflective surfaces like white walls, near ceiling, etc… it will also have tons of lens shift, optical zoom and lens memory, so easier to install at the right distance and off-axis. It’s also a well known product from a well known brand, with good warranty service… For almost everything else, JMGO is superior: solid state light, smaller and lighter, silent, by far a more razor image, stronger light output, more color coverage, better HDR handling, more HDMI bandwidth, more advanced smart functions, easier to carry around, less consumption, and going on…
Is it possible to angle it to do ceiling projection ? It seems on the amazon page that the angle is shorter (135deg) than jmgo n1 (White) please ? Thanks
Thanks for a great video. Do you think that jmgo n1 ultra with 120 inch Vividstorm white screen will perform better than xgimi horizon ultra with Vividstorm obsidian ALR long throw screen also 120 inches?
@@TheHookUp thanks eagerly waiting for it !! Also please include Ur opinion on -whether there is any quality difference in UST vs ceiling long throw ones.. since I am designing my home ,Ur input is going to help me immensely, heaps of thanks !!
I have the jmgo ultimate but on white background i have almost no contrast in dark scenes, will screens like this fix that? I mean my wall has a white background.
JMGO N1S Ultimate has horrible picture settings out of the box. I'd recommend going in and putting it on "user" mode. Set the gamma to "bright" and then turn the brightness down to 49 and the contrast down to 48. I also set color temp to warm and then manually reduced the green from -3 to -8.
@@TheHookUp thanks i will try that for sure. but isnt the rule that on black backgrounds the contrast is better, it'll make the black less greyish.. like elr screens they are mostly dark instead of white like the silverticketwab.
No, contrast will be very similar on any screen. The thing that changes on a lower gain screen is the black floor and peak brightness. Further explained here: th-cam.com/video/HrQmJHEDBBQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=oGlzonA-KWdvVTzj&t=356
Amazing work. My first source for any tech reviews. Regarding the laser speckle, have you tried any fresnel screen with triple laser projector? I have seen some Chinese fresnel screens for standard throw projectors and I'm considering buying one to pair it with Hisense Vidda C2 Ultra but can't find any reviews.
I've tried them with a UST fresnel and found that they don't show a ton of speckle, but obviously don't work as well as a UST since the fresnel is designed for a steeper projection angle. I don't have a long throw fresnel screen.
You'd need an AC Power station. Even though the N1 Ultra is pretty power efficient you'd still need about 1000 watt hours. Something like the Ecoflow Delta 2: amzn.to/3XGi9p9
Really enjoying your videos! Still deciding on JMGO vs Dangbei with final Prime Day sales. Question on the best screen for Dangbei? What do you recommend? You made video about UST screens, and screens for JMGO, but nothing for Dangbei screen recommendation) thanks!
The reason he made a specific notation on screens for the JMGO is because it its a triple laser projector. Triple laser projectors are prone to laser speckle if the manufacturer of the device has not designed technology to internally buffer or eliminate laser speckle. Then you have to choose a screen that is made with materials that offset the issue. Unfortunately, from what I hear from reviewers, the JMGO N1 Ultra rates stellar performance with the exception of its laser speckle issue. You can see how torn Rob is to not give this machine his recommendation. From what I hear , those who own the proper screen think its great
Rob, amazing work! Thank you. If we were to leave the specle aside, between this and an Optoma UHZ50, what would you go for? Any input would be highly, highly appreciated. 🙌
Glad I dipped out of the Kickstarter, I knew JMGO was lying about their specs as they have been doing from all their previous products. Numerous times the question for ansi lumens were brought up, and they couldn't give a concrete answer and kept avoiding the question. Also reading the comments on the Kickstarter page of people still waiting on delivery of Projector or items ordered with the project along with product quality issues is what was expected of JMGO.
Unfortunately it seems every single other manufacturer fibs on their specs. Doesn’t give jmgo a pass, but it also doesn’t mean it’s a good reason to pass on them, you would have to pass on pretty much every other projector.
@@wittech6116 If you're referring to most oversea companies, this is true. It's just unfortunate that most people fall for this tactic of false advertisement. The government of China has been trying to push a law to change all lumen units claims to CVIA measurement. As almost every single company oversea lies about its specs.
Can you review the new updated model, the N1S Ultra, with the Dangbei X5 Ultra and the Xgimi RS 10 Ultra? Those are the most powerful projectors of the chinese market right now
Both projectors received high reviews for brightness and contrast but he notes that the JMGO does not perform well when projecting on reflective surfaces such as semi gloss walls or ALR screens. Thats when the laser speckle shows up. His Recommendation was to use the JMGO on rougher textured surfaces or matte white screens. He has a link to the screen materials recommended for the JMGO. Although the Formovie X5 is his favorite, the laser speckle issue on the JMGO is the only thing keeping it from being the recommended pick. What should be noted is that some people are not bothered by the laser speckle such as many , including myself, have never experienced issues with DLP rainbow effect. The JMGO also has the best design of any of the lifestyle projectors for positioning and setup. Right now I'm deciding between the JMGO N1 Ultra and his other recommended pick the Dangbei Mars Pro 4K. I'm holding out to see his review of the 2024 CES show to see if there are any products and features that are worth holding out for. This current line of projectors are really in their first generation run. As good as they currently are , they are only going to get better. Hope this helps.
Bro, I just wanted to say youtube recommendations are busted. All I want are reviews from you, instead I have like 10 ai created videos then some subpar review channels. Why doesn't TH-cam reward hard work >:(
@MrMentalpuppy You can hover over the video image and three vertical dots will appear. Clicking the three vertical dots will bring up a menu and one option is "don't recommend this channel." I do this a LOT for random junk / BOT / clickbait content that appears.
I have purchased all my sample packs. If you are looking at buying a specific material from a vendor (like projectorscreen.com), they may be willing to send you some samples to help you decide.
A few months ago when I complained you didn't mention JMGO during it's discounted Kickstarter run, you replied you only review mass production units, but you ended up reviewing pre-production sample anyway?
Yep. They told me it was mass production. After I released my video and reached out to them about possibly having a faulty unit they said it was from the first run. I wasn’t thrilled about it.
@@TheHookUpi guess for the N1 ultra, I would also really like to know (or floor rising)! Also what would be the best trade off for a screen for this beamer if it is placed in the living room? (so there will be ambiant light. Great video as always!
In the case of this projector, this is not true 4K. This type of chip inside the projector is not capable of 4K (not capable of 4K resolution - this is upscaled 4K)
You are incorrect. This projector as well as almost all projectors under $6000 use 4x pixel shifting with a 1080p DLP chips to produce a true 8 million addressable pixels. “4k upscaling” takes 1080p content and displays it at 4k resolution and is a totally different thing than pixel shifting.

@@helgeschneider9069 @Renovatio2 I'm no expert but the reviews, specs and reputation of the BenQ HT2050A look awfully good for the price, if you can live with 1080P. The top of the text is red and the bottom is green (image is in flipped mode). Maybe my unit has a misaligned prism or something?
Definitely some color fringing/chromatic aberration yes.
You are the best!
Are the little squares that you see on the screen in the 1080 version when you get close to it also seen in the ultra version when you get close enough to the screen?
I’m looking for picture setting recommendations.
Hi could you recommended an electric ceiling budget screen for the jmgo n1 about 84 inches? I’ve been searching but having trouble finding a budget friendly option with this material
Could you please compare the vankyo leisure 3 and the happrun?
Hello, I bought 3 laser projector(Vidda c1pro) and was devastated by laser speckles. I have matte gray screen and thought it won't bother me, but speckles were horrible. I'm returning it. Now that you have tested Jmgo N1 ultra can you still recommend Formovie X5? Thanks!
Formovie X5 is fantastic, yes.
@@TheHookUp Thanks! But will I lose much in image quality after Jmgo n1 ultra?
I personally do not think so. The JMGO has extremely "punchy" color, which you won't get with the X5, but I actually prefer the X5's overall image to the JMGO.
Tôi đã từng hỏi anh ấy câu hỏi tương tự, và kết quả là Formovie X5
I love laser speckles 😊
👀
Do you recommend any pull down scream with woven acoustic material?
I wish every review would be that substantial! Thanks for that! One quick question… do you plan to test the new XGIMI Horizon Ultra anytime soon?
Yes, that video will be out either September 14th or 15th. It will also have the Hisense C1 and Nomvdic P1000 as well as the JMGO N1 Ultra and Formovie X5 to compare.
@thehookup ive had the N1 Ultra for a few months ago, very satisfied so far. Curious if you plan on reviewing the newly released N1S ultimate? I think its worth a side by side comparison with the original N1Ultra and test out the 3500 ANSI lumen claimed.
Yes. November 8th is the scheduled release date for that video.
@@TheHookUp awesome thanks! Looking forward to see if JMGO specs are legit 👌
Thanks for this!! Would you recommend me a good screen for the jmgo n1 portable version mate ? If is possible portable too
Hello.. Can you review the Benq HT2060 please?
Any chance I could put a solid screen behind a Woven Acoustic screen to give a little pop while minimizing laser speckle while watching outdoors?
Most of the Woven Acoustic stuff has black backing. If you were to put a reflective backing behind it you would get ghosting/double images.
I'm projecting onto a silver ticket grey screen, don't notice any speckle. I would like to go larger but wondering if i should go with silver ticket matte white or stick to grey? Would the white hurt the contrast/black level? Thanks
The white screens will lower the black levels.
Would you say the JMGO N1 Ultra outperforms the similarly priced Epson 4010 4K PRO? And all similarly priced LCD projectors?
Different projectors… and from different age, we could say…you’ve primarily to focus on the installation, because 4010 will have better blacks IF put in the right ambient, without reflective surfaces like white walls, near ceiling, etc… it will also have tons of lens shift, optical zoom and lens memory, so easier to install at the right distance and off-axis. It’s also a well known product from a well known brand, with good warranty service… For almost everything else, JMGO is superior: solid state light, smaller and lighter, silent, by far a more razor image, stronger light output, more color coverage, better HDR handling, more HDMI bandwidth, more advanced smart functions, easier to carry around, less consumption, and going on…
@@toiranesedoc very interesting thanks for this
Is the a budge screen does the job?
How far does the projector have to be for a 100” image? Trying to avoid the weird light box it’s has around the image
About 2.8m
Can you review the Benq HT2060 please? Thank you so much
Awesome..just use this with a white wall or matte screen and its all good.
Is it possible to angle it to do ceiling projection ? It seems on the amazon page that the angle is shorter (135deg) than jmgo n1 (White) please ? Thanks
Yes, ceiling projection works.
Thanks for a great video. Do you think that jmgo n1 ultra with 120 inch Vividstorm white screen will perform better than xgimi horizon ultra with Vividstorm obsidian ALR long throw screen also 120 inches?
In a light controlled room probably the JMGO and white screen. If you're dealing with some ambient light the ALR and Horizon Ultra would be better.
Thanks man you are the beat
where can I see which version I get?
Wimius P62 or Nexigo PJ40 ???
Great video - what would be Ur long throw projector pick between 3k-4k range for dedicated mini home theatre setup.
Stay tuned, that specific video should be out around July 10th.

@@TheHookUp thanks for the reply
Are there any options for battery powering this Baby? what kind of Powerstation i would need to run it 6 hours?
Stay tuned, UHZ50 is in my next video
@@TheHookUp oh awesome! 😃 Have you planned when it's coming out? 🔥🔥
Probably July 9th
@@TheHookUp Perfect! I am looking forward to it. 👌👌😃
Those are the most powerful projectors of the chinese market right now
When they are released globally, yes. Although I will probably review the Dangbei Mars 2 instead of the X5, but maybe both.
please review the Formovie S5 compare it to The WeMaxGo Advanced
That video will be out December 8th. In the meantime, I have already reviewed the wemax go advanced here: th-cam.com/video/wFcLjrGhJZA/w-d-xo.html
Hi sir. Can you make a video. About the viewsonic x1 4k. The xbox beamer. Looks pretty nice
JMGO N1 Ultra or formovie x5? I'm so confused which one to get
JMGO for sure
I once asked him the same question, and the result was Formovie X5
I was using this projector on a matte gray wall, and the laser speckle is bad there as well.
Texture (or lack thereof) can also have a significant amount to do with it.
Refresh rate is just 60 at all picture qualities right ?
Most pixel shifted 4K projectors (including the N1 ultra), can also display 1080p120hz.
Bro, I just wanted to say youtube recommendations are busted. All I want are reviews from you, instead I have like 10 ai created videos then some subpar review channels. Why doesn't TH-cam reward hard work >:(
Yeah, those channels drive me nuts. Best thing to do is hit the thumbs down button and move on.
@MrMentalpuppy You can hover over the video image and three vertical dots will appear. Clicking the three vertical dots will bring up a menu and one option is "don't recommend this channel." I do this a LOT for random junk / BOT / clickbait content that appears.
Where i can request screen materials semple?
did you contact a single company or several?
thanks
I have purchased all my sample packs. If you are looking at buying a specific material from a vendor (like projectorscreen.com), they may be willing to send you some samples to help you decide.
@@TheHookUp Thanks!
Compared to the JMGO 1 ultra, what do you think of the XGIMI Horizon Ultra did you get to try it?
Hey can you use it with an Powerbank like the normel n1?
Yes, but it pulls a lot more wattage, so it's limited to laser power 2 maximum before the power bank shuts down.
Thanks a lot ❤
A few months ago when I complained you didn't mention JMGO during it's discounted Kickstarter run, you replied you only review mass production units, but you ended up reviewing pre-production sample anyway?
Yep. They told me it was mass production. After I released my video and reached out to them about possibly having a faulty unit they said it was from the first run. I wasn’t thrilled about it.
Thanks Rob.
What motorized ceiling screen is the best? Pls
Best for the N1 Ultra? Or just best in general?
@@TheHookUpi guess for the N1 ultra, I would also really like to know (or floor rising)! Also what would be the best trade off for a screen for this beamer if it is placed in the living room? (so there will be ambiant light. Great video as always!

@@TheHookUp for the N1 Ultra
@@TheHookUp following up, I also would like to know the best for the N1 Ultra
3 different light sources in one pixel when shifting...yeep nothing good 😬 (better 3 times less lumens than rainbow effect)
“4k upscaling” takes 1080p content and displays it at 4k resolution and is a totally different thing than pixel shifting.
do you have any way to fix spotting on n1 unltra .
Larkin Canyon

Great review. For the price, the JMGO shouldn't have these issues. Better projectors for literally half the price.
Depends what you mean by "Better", JMGO has the largest color space coverage of any projector on the market right now.
what projector do you suggest?
Would also love to know which you think are better projectors at a lower price point. My Optoma died only 2 days after the JMGO N1 Ultra Kickstarter finished and I've been gutted I missed out on it and looking to find a replacement which doesn't cost 2.2k.

@Renovatio2
I'm no expert but the reviews, specs and reputation of the BenQ HT2050A look awfully good for the price, if you can live with 1080P. If you plan to use your projector infrequently the older HT2050 uses a bulb and is several hundred cheaper. If 4k is important the Epson 2350 appears superior to all the other budget 4k projectors. I haven't personally used either projector.
There is no better projector for half the price out there anywhere...is the N1 a perfect projector, no but it is pretty darn great. I have been dealing with projectors since the early projector days like the Sony CPJ200, the Sanyo's and the Epson 50UB series and this is the closest to the Epson UBs as far as contrast and blacks while beating it hands down on sharpness, clarity and color without being crazy oversaturated...I hope you give this projector a second chance as you will be hard pressed to find anything better overall...without question. Have you actually seen it in person as even video does not do it justice.👍
