This was beautiful, i hope he himself becomes a teacher for a new generation of Islamic calligraphers.

This is a GORGEOUS video on a very important American artist, but I can't get over the phrase "this high school dropout." I can't imagine anything more disrespectful to a man I am honored to know and call my teacher- a gracious, highly intelligent, and innovative individual.

One of the best things a professor ever told me was that he failed out of college twice. That from the humblest of beginnings people can find their calling.

I always thought arabic calligraphy especially the Muslim ones are very outstanding.. the word of Allah and Muhammad itself looks very beautiful and an arabic calligraphy without this two words looks like it's missing something..

Very impressive! It's hard to believe that this gentleman, with this magnificent and spectacular Arabic calligraphy, isn't actually a native speaker of Arabic.

It doesn't actually matter if you speak arabic or not for an arabic calligrapher. You still can be a calligraphy, 50% of eastern calligraphers are non arabic speakers. Including me, my teacher, my classmates. Alhamdulillah we do well.

@@afrahsyeda7635That's interesting! I have a question if you don't mind tho, I cannot read the Arabic script, but I know it is used to write multiple languages, when you say that "50% of calligraphers are non natives" is this because you write words of your own languages in Arabic script? Or are you writing Arabic words that you specifically know the meaning of?
And if you don't know the meaning, how do you choose which words to write in the art? I'm deeply fascinated by this art style and would love to learn myself.

Arabic is a beautiful written language same how English looks better in cursive but arabic is on a diffrent level
People who started writting on rocks didn't care about looks, they just wanted symbols. People with brush and ink like chinese and arabic danced with it
