    If in an emergency you land on a savage planet (like Earth) without enough fuel to take off, you can use the ejector system from this TWIN FAMICOM to go back to space.

    this is quite possibly the coolest looking console i have ever seen. it looks like it was designed by the designers republic for a 90s scifi movie or something. those controllers are rad!

      I have one. I use it with an adapter to play NES carts. I got an adapter/splitter thing that plugs into the ext plug, that lets me use US controllers. Weirdly, they only seem to work with some carts, even though all I have are US releases, currently.
      Also, just so you know, any US title that is two player and requires the second player to hit start, you're fresh out of luck, because the second player controller has no start or select button. Instead, it has a mic, which isn't as helpful. Most of the games I have that require that, won't work with US controllers on the machine, either.
      If you get one of these, be prepared to play games sitting very close to your TV. He wasn't kidding when he said those wires are short.
      The best way to play NES games, outside of an emulator, is an NES 2, I think, though I don't have one of those.

      @VinchVolt 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The NES-101 is pretty good for playing NES games from what I've observed, the only problem is that the video output is noticeably worse than the original model; an HDMI mod does seem to be able to fix this, though.
      Also, the NES wasn't designed to look like furniture because it was classy or stylish, it was designed to look like furniture so people wouldn't think of it as a game console, as the video game market experienced a major decline in the US just a couple years prior to the NES's North American release. Had the crash never happened, we probably would've gotten the Famicom as it was in Japan, though that's kinda a downside considering that the original Famicom only supports shitty RF video.

    • @Mistraker
      @Mistraker 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Better quality is always preferable, of course, but with graphics this primitive, I'm not too fussed if I don't get the absolute best picture quality. The Sharp Twin Famicom seems to have pretty good quality. I just wish they'd ditched the permanently wired controllers. I do use NES controllers via an adapter whenever possible, not least of all because I don't want to wear out the permanently wired ones, but also so I can use cable extenders and so on.
      The adapters seem about as rare as hen's teeth, though. I just happened to get one on amazon as it popped up, from Venezuela, of all places. They all seem to be made there. They're hard to find, but if you own this console, they're nice to have. They might also work with other Famicom versions, though I'm not sure.

    The Sharp Twin Famicom is awesome, but you wanna know what's even better?
    The Sharp X68000! Too bad it's also a lot more expensive =w=

      +Ruko Michiharu I've wanted that thing for 7 years now and from the few I've seen, not a single one has been even remotely reasonably priced. I'm sorry, but wasn't this thing POPULAR in it's day? the market makes it seems like they sold 5 copies of it that just keep ending up in the hands of the same jerk reseller....
      it's like the TG16 in that everyone wants one and has probably heard about from all the games it has, but absolutely no one has one. Except Lukemorse. dude's repaired like 4 of them.
      wait a minute have I ranted about the availability/pricing of it in response to one of your comments before? I practically do that virtually every time someone brings it up...

    • @Michirin9801
      @Michirin9801 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Actually nope, It wasn't... The X68000 was a somewhat niche workstation even in its day in Japan, it wasn't nearly as niche as the Turbografx 16 in the west, but it was only really enjoyed by Japanese tech geeks and/or gamers who could wipe their arses with money...
      That said though, it is one of the ideal game systems to emulate since it's way too expensive to collect, has lots of great although not particularly common games, both arcade conversions and exclusives, and well, NONE of the devs who made games for the X68000 are making any money off of its games anymore and also aren't making the games available for purchase on other systems like Steam, Nintendo eShop or PSN...
      So yeah, with the X68000 is either pay out the arse for it or emulate it, and I chose the latter...
      And unlike CERTAIN other Japanese computers *CoughFMtownsCoughPC98Cough* finding floppy images for X68000 games isn't hard at all, in fact they're widely spread on many sites dedicated to emulation

    +Supah Kent Famicom Disk System games had a higher data capacity than the usual cartridge games hence the use of floppy disks, some games such as LoZ which was originally on the FDS had additional audio fidelity but that was done on cartridge games as well. It's sorta like the Sega CD of the time without the CD audio or FMVs obviously.

    I used to have a grayishbluishwhatever 500R and I seriously regret selling it. It's such a great machine. The eject button is excellent and the switches and all the things are just amazing. Still the only downfall is the built-in controllers but whatevs. He hit all the things perfectly. Made the regret even deeper and sharper. Also tip: if you look for one of these maybe find console5.com, they sell replacement drive belts.

    That’s a gorgeous system, love it, why can’t they design stuff that looks like this anymore? I want tons of buttons of various sizes, shapes and colors smothered all over my brightly colored chunk of a game system! I tell ya, Apple ruined design for everyone. Oooo, white! Oooo, black! Oooo, plain slab! Come on, guys! I mean, yeah, the GameCube was square but at least it was purple and the controller looked edible. We need a game console design renaissance. Seriously.
