i have seen "back in his day" gameplay of dsp and others (like he says)

So he basically admits having his hand held even on a game franchise he claims to be a top player in
Basic learning with Tekken that most pro's and even intermediates do :
- go through character move set
- generally (like using a computer program) you'll find the 20-30% of the move set which is your go to, the main launchers, pokes, combo starters etc. You will be using these moves more than any others.
- The other moves in your list are either things that aren't useful or are worth remembering to throw out once in a while to surprise the opponent.
Phil just thinks that because the same moves are being used it's "spam". It's not, the player (at least to them) has found that they are decent moves to use. you now have two things you can do :
- Remember these moves, learn to block/counter them using training mode. then by sheer repetition you'll start to defend against them in some way by muscle memory alone.
- Get angry and blame the opponent, go full Phil mode.
