Karan, I understand what you mean a lot. When you said you could not sleep, and the anxiety and stress makes the mind play tricks on you to seek comfort. Sometimes, when you say things like that, I wonder how can someone say things that sound so wise beyond their years. It makes me really appreciate your videos even more. Thank you.
What helps for me is: always remember what you always wanted to do, why you wanted to do it, how many people would love to do what you do and how many people you help with what you do. Feel the rythm of the mashine in combination with nature; treat the ship like it a good friend or pet, love the sea you run through; you might not be free in reality but you might be able to feel the freedom of sailing and accept the set destination as a personal destination. Imagine how many man and children stand at the beach wishing they could sail that beautiful ship. And remember that you transport precious cargo, which might save someones life later.
Hey, there! I watched your video and completely understand your feelings. My previos voyage was my 1st as a 2nd Officer, and it was a big chaos in my mind, after the previos 2nd mate signed - off. I was worried about the passage plan, the medical locker, etc. But after the 10th day on board I realised it was much much easier. The first few days on board are always scary, nerveous and you miss home. But that's the way it is. Have a safe voyage and stay positive! All the best!
Loved it and rightly said - dont do too many things at one time ! Very informative ! Missing you too ! Take care be safe keep strong and remember we love you so much my second officer! 👦🏼❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for the video. I am a Captain too. A much smaller scale. I have crossed oceans on my sailboat and captained ferries. I know exactly what you mean on not sleeping. I could never sleep well just before a passage. Too many things going through my mind: weather always the biggest. Also equipment, rigging etc. have subscribed.
I know the pressure that you have gone through. Time and experience will change this, in about two vessel changes, you will experience the calm cool feeling that "I" am more than capable of being a 2/0. Note, Chief officer experience will be FUN - Enjoy your youth and stay "CALM" Always remember, every criticism/compliment, is a learning curve. I have never worked the far East to East Africa, I shall look forward to your future blogs.
Wow what a hectic time coming on board the new smaller ship. Thanks so much for showing all of us what goes on as you transition onto this new ship and get going.
Happy you are back to making these great videos. I am sure you will love the Mac. I have had a Mac Book Pro for 7 years and it is still the best computer I ever bought. In 7 years I have only had to replace the battery once, 3 months ago. Looking forward to what you can show us in Season 3.
Yeah I do get anxiety attacks and some times it gets my mind haywire. But getting things back to its places through your videos which gives motivation and peace.
Great to see you back at sea!! I'm sure you will have everything sorted out very quickly. Looking forward to your new adventures around the world. All the best to you from San Diego, California.
That was a lot of things happening all at once! Great advice too. I've discovered those things myself - take notes, one thing at a time (unless there's something that can easily be interwoven with what you're doing), and get enough rest because tired people make mistakes. You mentioned Singapore to Africa? Are you headed anywhere near the areas off East Africa where there has been pirate activity? Good luck, stay safe!
I work as a freelance site manager so totally feel you picking up a handover when so many loose ends are still not tied off. Sometimes I have to step onto a live construction site with NO handover and have to learn all the reporting's and paperwork myself while i am having to watch the are operation.
Hello Brother. Your Singapore Boarding Agent here. Looking forward to seeing you during your next call in Singapore. Stay safe, have been a loyal follower of your videos onboard Maersk Line.
Absolutely brilliant, you are so well organised. Nice to see daylight from your window not just containers. Good look on your new voyage and your new ship, I really enjoy your vlogs as I subscribed a month ago and I’m hooked. Thank you
Great video. With everything new, there is usually chaos at first. But everything new takes time. I think after a half-year break, you need something to get used to everyday work again. I wish you, your crew and your new ship a safe journey and stay healthy.💙💖🙏⚓🚢👋👩
I apologize if you've already covered this, but I would be very interested to see how you make a passage plan using ECDIS. When I was a navigator, it was with old-fashioned paper charts, parallel rulers and dividers.
I know you are so tired, boy the excitement of being First Officer is also taxing for you. I know you will settle in there. You are a professional and perfectionist in everything you do. Congratulations. Take your time, think twice before doing, and take notes. Bless you. Till the next time. Mathew

Next time it will be easier to prioritize the tasks. With time comes experience. With experience comes proficiency. Soon you will make it look easy! 🙂
I love the ship. A small geared ship serving African ports. I just looked and the ship is off the coast of Namibia. Awesome. You should get a chance to see more than one giant port after another. Hope you have a good crew. I’m sure that on a small ship it’s even more important to have good shipmates.
Loved this one bro! To the point and the core reality, the harshest part of a seaman when the join! Could relate to every single second of the video. Hope you had a good rest later on! Bon Voyage Mate🛳

hi dear, so happy to see you on board shooting videos for us again on Maersk line do not take stress, take good care of you Once again great video GOD BLESS YOU
I have followed your videos for a while and I tell you one thing. You are a star person 💥💥💥 one of those that one really would like to have as a friend. Just by viewing your videos one feel like your friend. Wishing you all the best. Success and a prosperous life. And that you marry that girl..
Don't do too many things at one time. I had issues sometimes when I was on the drillship. Sometimes the hand over isn't accurate and I was responsible for the perishable food box which used to come regularly once a week and sometimes when there is an accident I had to see the case, type everything and put it scan to base, person files, medical inventory dates of medicine and expired medicines used to help safety officer which his checks as well from stretchers different types( actually there are drills for patient transfer from ship to boats alongside and sometimes patients cannot lie in supine position and needs a different stretcher. It happened once on drillship platinum explorer) also eye wash stations, showers, water testing etc etc..but used to prioritize it and time goes when there is some work or else time drags.
Hello it's good to see your videos. What you said about not to do many things at once. What should you do if it should be like that? Or do you have tips in handling over the watch which you have to learn many many things?
Great video, Karanvir! I really felt for you that first day on the ship. 4 hours to get all that information and find everything, with so many other things going on and having this new responsibility was making my head spin! 😂 I know you'll figure it all out and feel better real soon! What is the name of the ship? I saw 'Cape' but not the rest of the name. Can you explain how the onboard cranes are used in a future video please? Do the cranes allow you to unload and load containers yourself in small ports? Thanks for the great video :) ❤️
