Employing a FA is a complete waste of money. If you invest 90% of that money into index funds, like the SP500, you will do better than 92% to 93% of FA's. And those that do better, is just marginally so. Many FA's make recommendations to bolster their fees, and many customers are satisfied with their returns only because they don't know better.

Charlotte’s state income tax is a flat rate of 5.25%. So using Graham’s math after his $17.8 million net income, taking 25% for lawyers etc. that leaves him with $13.3M over 4 years, Then taking the 5.25% for income tax he is left with $12.6M over 4 years which works out to be $3.16M net per annum after taxes, as opposed to Graham’s estimate of $1.6M

The estimates for agent and lawyer fees are way to high. In the NBA, it is a max of 4% of contract value, and the agency also provides the legal services. For rookie contracts like this one, it is like 1%. Most agents don't even charge commissions on rookie contracts to get the business. The real money for agents is the second contract, and endorsements which have higher commission rates. PJ has a Nike deal, and possibly a couple others. I'd say his net take home is closer to around ~$2.8M.

In some cases it's actually better to buy the car new. In certain types of cars such as BMW, Mercedes, sports cars , exotic cars, etc. Buying it used will actually cost more in the long run being their constantly having issues being you don't know how it was treated by the previous owner. Also getting a new car you can get a warranty and other things. If your going to get a nice car and have the money. Buy it new. If your just gonna get a Honda or something then yeah get it used.

Tyler k that would make sense but you didn’t account for how he is with cars. If you gonna keep a car for years and years new would be better, but only for a reliable car. If you are gonna buy a car and only drive it for a few years used is better. Used cars can still come with warranty also. You might even be better off leasing some cars and saving because you don’t have to worry about depreciation like with a BMW. But yeah the car brand and the model itself should play a big factor on your decision as well.

Guys, please visit your local shelters and rescues if you're interested in a pet! They have so many animals to suit a range of lifestyles, and they usually have a full write-up on their personality and medical needs. Our cat is AMAZING--super friendly, silky like a purebred ragdoll, and very healthy--and her adoption (including microchipping) was just $60. Adoption saves lives!

@@get_it8473 True, a house can eat that up very quickly depending on where you live. But excluding that, I really don't know what I would spend $1 mil on. I would just invest it and live off the gains indefinitely. :)

you invest it while you're young so you can retire middle-aged and make an above average amount every year off it. keep working like normal at the same time and you're set by 45-50 for the rest of your life...if you come on that one mill early enough you can be done by 40.

check with your insurance, but USAA allows its members with auto insurance policies to put their vehicles in "storage" with the caveat being that you have to agree to not drive the car for more than 30 consecutive days at a time. Fun weekend car...put it in "storage"

The NBA actually has like a financial weekend for rookies and young players. They have a lot of former players who have gone broke speak. Even when they go completely broke they get a pension from the league at 62 that starts at 60k for just 3 years of playing in the league. You should check out Allen Iverson and his situation. A former employee of his really saved him financially. I love your videos Graham. I always smash the like button. Your videos are like going to school for finances for me.

Graham, clothes and shoes is like a investing in the stock market. They can go up over time or down depending on the hype. There's some you can buy, wear, then resale and make your money or get more money back. Like interest.
But when you buy a pair of shoes. And you're the first one to wear it. Is like buying a new car. A driving it straight out of the dealer. You're automatically going to lose 10%-30%. Especially if you don't have the box.

  • @NZFarmboy80

I don’t see the problem with buying new cars, you get a factory warranty with it and more often than not you get 3 years free servicing as well, at least you do here in New Zealand
