    Great video. Im a new (5 months play) and older player (63) and Ive got to say that Ive never had so much fun playing ESO. Im just questing, delving and seeking out Sky shards but the immersion is second to none. Believable characters, engaging story lines and plenty of "I never saw that coming" moments. If you are thinking of playing, DO IT!!!

      @@Dabdoub25 what I suggest is just pick a zone and work the zone quest. There is also what’s called the activity finder for your dungeons, pvp, and a zone guide to help with whatever zone your doing. Gives clues on what’s in the zone and where it’s located. Watch videos on TH-cam is how I learned what I know and also common knowledge from previous mmo games.

      @@Realmccoy614 The game is so different from what it used to be at launch. I started right around that time and loved it, but stopped playing after a while and never got back into it consistently again, only sporadically. Recently, a friend of mine got into it for the first time and I went ahead and said “fuck it”, redownloaded the game, and had a fresh start in the EU megaserver because I’m NA but my friend is EU. Having a fresh start now and just having all the improvements and additions and new directions you can go is just crazy. I’m absolutely hooked again, my friend and I are just zombies on this shit now, playing for hours on end. I do miss the classic ESO but I’m certainly not unhappy with modern ESO.

      Once you have done a few zones you quickly realise that even though the game is huge and there is tons of content it basically all comes down to the same thing. Go talk to an NPC, run to a wayshrine and fast travel to the objective, run past every enemy on the way, press X at the objective and then to back to the quest giver. Login, writs, daily random, daily bg's, logout because it's the same crap over and over.

    You bring up fair points about PvP. With that being said, I have over 8k hours in this game as a strict PvP player, nothing comes close to the experience and combat that ESO offers. The lag in Cyrodiil can be frustrating during prime time, but dueling, battlegrounds, and imperial city give me plenty to do when it’s not performing. This game can definitely be enjoyed as a PvP only player, I log on daily to PvP and continue to have a great time. In my opinion ESO is the best PvP MMO on the market, despite the shortcoming of lag in Cyrodiil.

    important to note: YOU DO NOT NEED THE CRAFT BAG
    I am a vet player since launch and stopped paying monthly as soon as the option was available.
    there are addons used specifically for inventory management, such as dustman (which auto marks useless items as junk) and another that auto deposits crafting materials that YOU NEED into your bank. You can even auto sell junk items to merchants, so inventory management is beyond easy on PC and Mac.
    once you have reached a high enough level and made enough gold, it will be very hard to run out of inventory space, even with all crafting skill trees being used and maxed out.

    • @kyleparker2139
      @kyleparker2139 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you play on console the craft bag is a must or you'll spend hours sorting your inventory in banks, chests and merchants. That's why there is so many style materials, ingredients, trait stone, so people pay for the pesky ESO plus.

    Started playing a week ago: been playing a lot. Met a dude who has been playing the game for 6 years, dude helped me grind to level 50, then champion level 150 In about a week, little under a week.
    Decided to buy Blackwood, been enjoying the benefits of ESO PLUS membership. Been saving money by getting all these DLCs for free. This game has improved greatly since it’s release in 2014… I played this game when it first came out on PS4 off and on for a few years constantly leveling characters to 20-30 then deleting them. The game was very dry a few years back, but with free morrowind expansion and base game content it’s a lot more alive of a world. Years ago it felt like a wanna be MMO game, like it was impersonating the genre, selling copies by the Skyrim history. Now… holy smokes. The game feels wayyy more alive and like a real fictional world. Very worth while MMO nowadays after everything they have added.
    I play on PC now. This is my main video game lately, it’s just a more intelligent game, less children on ESO and 99.99% well minded adults. The community is active and very helpful. Not a whole lot of toxicity but it’s there in the deeper parts of the game, like trial runs and veteran dungeons.

    Deltia, I really enjoy your content. I too have played since beta, and have a mountain of players, and enjoy all of the aspects of the game. I note, however, that there is a large population of folks that enjoy the housing aspect of the game, and it is a large part of the reason many players love the game. I have personally met hundreds of players who over the years have been great pvp or pve players, and also had incredible houses. I'm not a role player, and you certainly don't have to be to enjoy the creative process of putting a house together. Wouldn't it have been more fair to show some of the incredible housing that has been done by the player base and allow the viewer to judge whether they are interested in that creative process? If you're going to put out a video that describes the game to random viewers, I think you could have been more balanced in that area. That being said, I very much enjoy your videos, have learned much from your content, was happy to see you return (and admired your honesty when you left), and I thank you for all the hard work that goes into your site.

    Great video! The only part that is upsetting to me is you did not touch on how they monetize the game which I feel is a big factor to people starting an mmorpg or returning to one. The game is really good but Zenimax milks the hell out of the game. Its got an optional sub, you have to buy expansions and the patches, its got lootboxes AND it has a heavily utilized cash store.
    Outside of like 3 or 4 basic looking horses there is only 1 mount that you can work towards to earn. The rest you better pull out that wallet or for the ones with particle effects and all that you better go to the casino and play that slot machine. They do have the endeavor system but it takes you a massive amount of time to get anything cool. Also houses that are $100+? Really?
    Is it pay to win? No. Its mostly cosmetic. But it really is something that should definitely be brought up when discussing whether or not to try ESO out because collecting cool things is a big factor to many who engage with MMORPGs and the fact that most of it is behind a paywall here is pretty upsetting.

    The number one thing about this game for me is the fact that everything you can grind for in the game stays relevant and useful. I still use my very first set I obtained years ago, Mother's Sorrow.
    After playing Destiny for years as a hardcore player, completing all the hard mode raid achievements, working toward collecting all the exotics, sparrows, titles etc, I watched it all go bye-bye as they introduced Destiny 2.

    Last time I played was in 2019. I don't really remember what I exactly liked about it but after replaying Skyrim after a few years and then recently seeing how disappointing SWTOR's updates have been for the story since quitting (I think I must've been playing ESO and SWTOR at the same time), and, hell, even just generally the updates have been really dry from what I've heard, I've gotten quite excited to play ESO again. Some memories I do have is loving the PVP even though I'm a casual player, it always reminded me of PlanetSide 2, also exploring the Imperial City was really cool too, just sneaking around to see everything even though that was just about when I was basically quitting, as well the post level 50 stuff being quite confusing.

  • @MI2003
    @MI2003 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think he's wrong on being down on the CP system. It works pretty well. Levels 1-50 are learning your character, it can be done in a day or two. CP transfers across characters so you don't have to grind the advanced skills for EVERY character, which would be exhausting. The slots also limit how far ahead the best players can get - they will always have the best gear, but they will mostly have similar skills to someone who specced carefully around 1500 CP. You can also customise your characters to your interests but if you want to put the time in, it doesn't lock you into that choice. So if you farm or craft, this does not disqualify you from also being able to PVP if you have enough CP -although the armoury development has, in effect, reduced the amount of CP you need to have the perfect character for each task. Overall it's a sophisticated solution to problems all MMOs face when many of their characters are top level, but not necessarily doing the same content.

    I really wanna pick up this game (steam eu) but I am afraid since I will be new to the game I won't find a dedicated group to do hard mode trials, and that is what i like most in mmos, how hard is it to find serious raiding groups in this game?

  • @scarystoriesclub7985
    @scarystoriesclub7985 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Coming from a hardcore pve endgamer. I do think it’s worth it . The trials/dungeon achievements are earned . The game is hard there’s a big learning curve. Once you understand how the game works you’ll realize how in dept it is . Skill is definitely needed but it gets old . There’s constant changes in meta gear for every role meaning the grind doesn’t stop and everyone’s competing for trifectas. The endgame community is very toxic. But I started to feel like it was a job and not a game . Yeah it was very challenging and getting those achievements felt awesome but I got tired of it. It’s like a job to get an achievement. In order to do the trials you’ll have to be scheduled at certain times so everyone can play . And if you don’t show up it’s like missing work . It wasn’t fun anymore but stressful . I don’t regret the time spent. I think everyone should check it out but definitely don’t stay in the hole . It was intended to neverend . Games like these can suck the life out if you if you let them . At the end of the day I play games to have fun not to be stressed out . But yes it’s worth it but not for a long time .

    It's good for casual gamers but for hardcore, not so much.
    All of the small bugs really drive you mad the longer you play. ZOS takes forever, sometimes years to fix bugs. Only for them to come back after a patch.
    Story content is great but because of no difficulty settings It's mind numbingly easy and becomes boring quickly. There is zero challenge whatsoever.
    PvP is in a good place meta wise but its as bad as it's ever been performance wise. Almost unplayable at certain points.
    ESO strong points are veteran dungeons and housing.

      @@jontaii152 Uhh, nobody plays overland content for the difficulty. There's lots of difficult content in the game, none of it in the overland, unless you're soloing world bosses or wandering bosses in Deadlands or something.
      @Imperial Watch Yeah dude, this game is 100% catering to casual players. There is very little in terms of achievements, cosmetics, mounts etc that can be earned through playing compared to the crowns store. The vast majority of art dev time is spent on the crown store cosmetics, which is perfect for casuals or whales who would rather just swipe their credit card than actually be rewarded for doing something challenging or playing the game. PvP is fun, but bugs and dogshit performance have ruined it.

    • @jontaii152
      @jontaii152 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stevieoneder8091 that’s not the point. Why should the only difficult content in the game be instanced. There’s zero challenge while doing zone or DLC quests. It takes the fun out of it

    • @stevieoneder8091
      @stevieoneder8091 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jontaii152 That's the entire point dude. Like I said, this game is designed to cater to casual players. They dont want potential whales dying to overland trash and getting upset and quitting before they spend a bunch of money on crown crates. Almost no well designed or successful MMOs have difficult content that is easily accessible/stumbled upon. Or if it is, like a rare spawn in WoW or something, it is a big scary boss that screams "I'm dangerous" to scare noobs away. It demotivates new players when they get crushed by it, and players competent enough to complete that content will seek it out themselves. Its basic game design.
