Kevin and Sarah, I just want you all to know how much I love your family , farm, animals and cooking videos! I am a 68 year old woman who is living with MS and Paraneoplastic syndrome and FM. I have a lot of pain I have to live with. Your videos give me precious time to think about something else other than pain and sadness. Thank you for all you do for us viewers. I come every day to the computer and your channel is the first thing I watch, after making a hot cup of tea to drink and share with you. I cannot walk or drive and it is very hard for me to leave my home . I thank God for you all and look forward every day to new videos! I started at the beginning of your daily videos and have watched all of them. I have shared your channel with many family members and friends! Much love and hugs to you all. Have a Happy, Prosperous, Healthy new year and I look forward to being with you every day that you can. Patricia Huff, Kernersville, NC

Ratchet straps are required tools on a homestead. We've used them for helping install the hoops on our greenhouse, but for ours, it was to close the hoop to match the posts. And hang sheets in the woods for summertime movies. Tighten fence Iines. To lever out small stumps. Suspend unused furniture in rafters until we can mount them. The best extra pair of hands ever.

I envy you guys. This reminds me of the time we built a second greenhouse about this size for rooting rhododendron cuttings using warm water circulating underground in the beds. I enjoyed our house(s) while it lasted.. Still have and use the small one 24x12 for flower gardening. Lots of fun.. Just don't overwork yourselves. BTW I'm now retired at 77 years of age.

While driving the posts, use a string lengthwise at the top to align the posts from one end of the greenhouse to the other so they’ll be properly aligned for your bows. Use a small magnetic level vertically on the side of each post at the same time. This should keep your posts plumb and accurately spaced.

Those are nice little greenhouses. I would make one suggestion for the next one that you do... Concrete in the 4 corner posts. We actually had a couple lift out of the ground that were driven almost 30 inches down. If you drill a hole through the ground post near the bottom and put a long bolt through it (so it's sticking out both sides) before you pour the concrete it will keep the wind (uplift) from pulling the post through the concrete. Its just a really inexpensive insurance policy that you only have to do once. Replacing damaged arches and torn plastic is a pain in the rear!
    Love y'all!
    Have a blessed 2020!
    Chuck

Sweet. Be careful to reinforce it very well though. I had my chickens living in a hoop house (though not as large as what you guys are making) so far this winter. We got an epic windstorm a couple nights ago which was strong enough to bend and shatter all the frame bars and welds on the windward side. As I was trying to reinforce them more in the morning, they broke completely and the whole thing blew away across my yard like a giant sail with all the broken bars still attached. Any point were a bar slides into a bar, I'd make sure had reinforcement all around the joint. Yours looks big enough to be a fair bit sturdier, but better safe than sorry. Good luck! Excited to keep seeing the development of your place.

Have you considered possibly keeping your chickens in it during the winter months? Or even their manure in bins? Allowing for the decomposing manure to "heat" the structure and allow for some growth as well? Mot great for air quality I'll absolutely admit! But plants don't seem to mind.🤫😉

Very inspirational, and informative. May I suggest 2 things. #1, could you put these vid's in a separate playlist? Would make it easier for some that aren't prepared this year to build one, to find these steps in the future, without having to hunt for them in order. #2. I have seen many questions already about what you would be growing in there. May I suggest onions, for starts to go in the ground in the spring. If that works, also to sell at the farmers market. Starts (plants) are much more viable then sets, because they are a first year onion, where as sets are a second year onion, and more likely to bolt. 1, 3' x 8' bed you could easily plant 3000+ plants, @ $10 per bundle of 50-60 plants, that's over $500 income, first planting. Most places get between $12-18/ bundle. Leaving you enough to plant in the in ground garden for yourself, and green house paid for in no time. Might be worth doing the nerdy math on that one. Thanks again for this episode, will be following this through to the end, including what you plant, in what size beds. Mark
