    Thanks for this tour of Woodstock. It really does have a big hippie feel. I definitely want to check this out one day when I can make it up to upstate New York. I hear there are really good hiking trails in the area as well. Also, thanks for showing the Buddhist temple. That was truly beautiful and meditative.

    Regarding the 1990s Woodstock festivals. 1994 was by far the closest to the actual Woodstock, held nine miles away in Saugerties. It had an eclectic variety of music along with the contemporaneous acts of the 90's. It got a bit out of control when 300k people showed up but the vibe was still good overall and we had a good time. The 1999 festival was held two hours northwest at a former air force base in Rome, NY and devolved into a real mess, culminating in a riot. People can google for specifics. I'm glad I passed that one up.

      True. I lived on site on '94. I'll add the Woodstock Sound Outs which were the precursors to to the Woodstock Festivals were held in Mount Marion.

      If you go up to the monastery and are in decent shape then I recommend doing the couple mile hike beyond it to the top of Overlook Mountain. You'll get a great view of the surrounding mountains, across the Hudson Valley and into CT and MA. A fire tower that you can climb if it's in season and you'll pass the ruins of the old Overlook Mountain House. If you want to hike further you can descend to Echo Lake which is in what they now call the Indian Head Wilderness Area.

    Great video! My favorite little town! I live about an hour North from Woodstock. In the Spring starting in April and ends end of October before it starts to get dark out early, they have a Drum Circle in town every Sunday from 4-6 PM. It's a lot of fun. I will be down there in a few weeks with my friend Jennie to see the holiday decorations on the stores. Thank you for this great video. Peace and Love always! 😃☮

    Thanks for the tour of this super cool hippie town. I agree with you, I love how they just seem unbothered by the worries we encounter. Maybe the hippies have the right idea while we’re all worried about houses, things, and jobs. We can really take a page out of their book.

      The hippy vibe is illusory. Woodstock is full of wealthy New Yorkers with their second and third homes. There’s lots of attitude. I live nearby and tend to avoid it. A rather unfriendly place I find. At least there are a couple of places to hear live music.

    Also if ya dig this on Woodstock youtube 😀 you may enjoy the song " Most of All " By Glenn Kaiser and Where Roses Grow Live by Rez Band Awesome songs check them out. I remember hearing the song by Led Zepp " In My Time of Dyin " during my drug years and made me think about death and Jesus. Then a hippy friend that dug Jesus told me more of Jesus love and forgiveness and how I could also know Jesus love. So in 1981 I cried out to Jesus and wow man He came into my life and I had and have so much joy and peace and now know that through Jesus when I die I will be with Him in Heaven. Hey Jesus loves each of you also and yall can know Him if you are at all open. Just cry out to Him and a good question to ask yourself if you were to die today would you go to heaven ? And if yes why ? To find out more please read the Gospel of John in the Bible or check out the movie on TH-cam. 😀

    Woodstock, NY is not a hippie mecca. It is an Arts Colony since the early 1900's. This video is commercial bullshit. This type of commercialism has made the town unaffordable for artists to dwell there. Heartbreaking.

      @TheMoondanceKid หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Local people who are the true heart of Woodstock, NY cannot afford to shop at these commercially hyped stores. Nor afford to live there because of the overpriced rentals that this type of hype has caused them to be displaced. The maker of this video knows nothing about Woodstock, NY.

    First of all, the town of Woodstock did not "host the original Woodstock Festival in 1969". The Festival was in Bethel - about 1.5 hours away. Next, you talked about the "old hotel off the beaten path" - the one with the waterfall - it is NOT old. It is quite new and built by someone who is from NYC who came in and tore down a bunch of trees and fought the locals at Town meetings. They won - of course. Woodstock has changed the past few years - drastically. It used to be a cool, quaint town. Now - and because of people from NYC moving up here in droves during Covid and buying every bit of property they could buy - it has CHANGED. It now has more of a NYC vibe - unfortunately. We, the locals, know. You who made this video - do not know. It used to be a Community where we all respected one another and gathered and took time to talk to one another. Now you hardly ever see the locals. Many got pushed out of their homes due to NYC "fixing up" the properties they purchased and then doubling the rent. Many became homeless. Even our local Health Food store, Sunflower, has drastically changed and become more like a Whole Foods - with concrete floors and massive LED lighting everywhere. Anyway... I guess it all depends upon your perspective.
