Near my home there is a church that, before they embarked for the Holy Land , Crusaders went to for a blessing on their quest. In the granite stones around the door of the church, they carved personal crosses with their swords.
And now it is suggested the very word church should be eliminated from our language for fear of giving offence. It’s unlikely any other faith here would risk being nullified by it’s own hand.

My ancestors helped set up the Church of England and to give us an english Bible. They and Cranmer died for their faith. Cranmer gave us the Book of Common Prayer. We should never have stopped the use of our prayer book . Modernisation is ruining our church, as is wokism and Welby. Did Cranmer & my ancestors and others DIE in vain? For me the CHURCH OF ENGLAND remains the CHURCH. Get rid of Welby, the worst Archbishop of Canterbury ever.

@@RainyGryphon Cranmer did a first edition in 1549. It was English in a Catholic form to gently persuade people towards his next edition in 1552. This was finally a protestant prayer book. This superceded the first one. Had Edward vi not died it is possible Cranmer would have done a 3rd edition as he was very keen on protestant developments in Europe. But Mary Tudor burnt him. When Elizabeth 1st came to throne, the 1552 edition became standard C of E prayer book and hardly changed since. However, it is hardly used( except morning prayer and even song ) now , much to many people's disgust. Common Worship Book not as great. Hope that helps .

      Hi,
The word 'Church' is not in the Koine Greek translation of the new testament, but an added pagan word meaning a pagan Scottish word 'circle,' which when further research into this word it derives from the Greco/Roman goddess 'Circe.'
William Tyndale forbade using this word & placed the true original word found in the Greek translation. Congregation.

The question of why Islam gets such a free ride has been answered. Prince Charles has a fascination with Islam, now King Charles has confirmed the fascination continues, This pro-Islam stance seems to be reinforced with the dismantling of the Church of England. Prince Charles studied Arabic to read the Quran. King Charles may be fascinated with the religious aspects of Islam, but it is political Islam that poses the greatest danger. Expecting Britain to be protected from Islam from the top is a disappointment. The only solution, common people, mums dads, grandparents must learn about political Islam. There is confusion and ignorance, Islam is not simply a religion, it is a political movement with an easily identifiable ideology.

@@lawrencehalpin6611 I was prompted by your reply to research the question. Using AI, Apologies for the long copy and paste, but it does reveal a lot. I also posed the question about Prince Charles and Easter. Again, very revealing. I have asked myself privately, will King Charles convert to Islam, I haven't been able to answer my question, It remains a worry in my mind.
King Charles III, formerly known as Prince Charles, has delivered several significant speeches addressing the relationship between Islam and Christianity over the years. Here are some notable instances:
      Speeches on Islam and Christianity
"Islam and the West" - October 27, 1993
Location: Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies
      Key Points:
Emphasised the misunderstandings in the West about Islam and the cultural debt owed to the Islamic world.
Highlighted the shared values between Islam and Christianity, such as compassion, justice, and the importance of family.
Suggested that Islam offers insights that Christianity has lost, particularly regarding the integral view of the universe and the connection between man and nature.
"A Sense of the Sacred: Building Bridges Between Islam and the West" - December 13, 1996
      Location: Wilton Park
      Key Points:
Discussed the need for a more in-depth understanding between the Islamic and Western worlds.
Advocated for the appreciation of Islamic teachings on the natural order, which could benefit Western perspectives on environmental stewardship and societal values.
Speech at the Markfield Institute of Higher Education - Date unspecified
      Key Points:
Celebrated the contributions of Muslims to British society and academia.
Reminded the audience of the historical sacrifices made by Muslims in service to the Crown during the World Wars.
Speech on Ramadan - April 2022
      Key Points:
Acknowledged the significance of Ramadan and the charitable spirit of the Muslim community.
Expressed admiration for the sacrifices made by Muslims during this holy month.
Speech at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies - 2010
      Key Points:
Discussed environmental issues and how Islamic principles can inform sustainable practices.
Described Islam as a custodian of wisdom regarding the natural world, contrasting it with Western materialism.
These speeches reflect King Charles III's long-standing commitment to interfaith dialogue and his admiration for Islamic teachings, particularly in relation to environmental stewardship and cultural understanding.

English people, remember your roots! Anglians should become Angels again!
I see a tactic behind all this: if you can destroy the faith in one of the original countries spreading the Gospel in Europe, there will be only a small step to de-christianize the whole Occident!

IF the Authorised King James Version of the Holy Bible is faithfully read, entirely throughout the Church Year (two chapters for Prime and two for Vespers daily), you'd hear the Gospel quite often in the Church of England or elsewhere if it's a traditional Liturgical Church of 2024 years. The "Evangelical", "bible" churches don't believe in Readings of the Bible. They believe in sermons only which are usually whatever their preacher (local pope) thinks instead of what the Bible actually says.

    • @whiteheatherclub

Yes, and invariably these preachers confine most of their sermons to selected passages from the Pauline epistles so those attending their churches rarely ever get a sermon based on the Gospels.

What's your aversion to sharing your testimony of how you came to know Christ? That's entirely biblical. Many 'churches' will happily encourage membership without any evidence of the knowledge of Christ (marriage, etc being their true motivation) - it's been going on for many, many years. Baptism is an outward sign of an inward heart/life change - why would you object to the church asking about that?

You didn't even come up with one scripture to back your statement. I can show you scripture where people got baptized no questions asked. Before you have your Bible you have to know the contents. As the Bible doesn't tell us the contents, the vast majority of people simply rely on somebody else (eg. Somebody who publishes Bibles) to tell them what the contents are. . Most people just accept that there is some body out there (they can't usually identify it) which has infallibly determined which books belong in the Bible. So you do need something beyond the Bible: you need someone who tells you what makes up the Bible. Without those people telling you what the contents of the Bible are you don't know what the contents are. And before somebody comes along with some crazy notion like the Bible determines the contents the fact is that people nowadays don't make up their own minds which books belong in the Bible; they just accept that there is a publication called the Bible and they rely on whoever put it together as being infallible. Or why else would there be bookshops selling collections of already-determined books making up the Bible?

This is not understanding what a new worshipping community is. A worshipping community as described by these diocese are not the same as church plants. They are not intending to be different parishes but congregations of the existing parish.
If i was to plant a church i would expect that church, over time, to separate from the existing parish to be a self sufficient parish in it's own right.
If i was to plant a worshipping community, I'd expect that congregation to remain part of the existing parish just like a mid -week communion service is still part of the same church as the Sunday service.
They are set up to provide accessible worship to those who wouldn't otherwise step foot in a church building. (I personally don't agree with that principle).
Also many don't practice all the sacraments and baptisms largely take place in the parish church by the parish vicar. And if it's a lay led community, communion isn't practiced, although they might opt for an agape meal instead - again not a sacrament, not a church.
