Scar hasn't built a portal in many seasons because he hasn't felt like needing one, so when he was asked to do so, he responded with malicious compliance and built a portal that tries to kill you.
He built a portal next to his "starter" tree in Season 9.
@@StarshipToMars I guess he didn't count that because it's a public portal and not a personal one. He didn't mention it in the video where he built his current portal.

@@wikiuser92 Nonetheless, Scar built it, originally for himself, and I think it was Cub who helped him link it, but once pretty much everyone had an elytra, it became the spawn village portal because there had been too many in a relatively small area, and his was convenient for everyone. It was also the prettiest.

A lot of people play when he's online. The Eurpeans are sometimes the only ones or with just a tiny few.

I love how instead of basing his episodes off of specific projects he wants to do, Xisuma just chills in the server most of the time, doing small things, touring other hermits' creations and overall being helpful to his peers. Truly capturing what Hermitcraft is about, ain't he.

Another way to do this is a ratio, usually called M:S or mark to space where M is the on time and S is the off time
This season is my return to hermitcraft after 10 years. watched it when i was 13 now im 23 and im loving each episode from xisuma and all the other hermits so far.

Wait... TNT dupping is accepted on hermitcraft but sand isn't? You know what, I'm understanding Doc's pettyness more and more
Duping sand -> Infinite TnT? And also lag rates would be spiking. The server would barely be playable if someone loads in the sand duping machine
@@sf22008 none of these run constantly. there's virtually no difference in lag between the two.
I just thought it was a a position they took because it was a vanilla server and they want to stay within intended gameplay. the duping is technically a bug abuse.
arguably tnt duping is more game breaking because it replaces more steps of the "intended gameplay"
sand is just a ressource generation to get the 1 block instead of shoveling a desert.
so honestly I don't understand the stance. because I don't mind choosing duping or not. but this in between (even more so with this flipped priority) just seems wrong.
sand is one of the only blocks that has no other source.
If you want to use sand duplication you would create a collection are in the End which hurts the experience by having to navigate out of it
This is not to create discourse, this is just my understanding from multiple Hermit's perspective:
The Hermits try to make their server as Vanilla as possible with some quality of life and minimal cosmetic changes. They understand that TNT and Sand duping is in an awkward gray area. Technically it's vanilla even if it's a bug, but they approach these things very carefully.
TNT plays a vital role in the redstone community. A great deal of farms require large amounts of TNT. With a server of 27 people, the Hermits need to keep the shops stocked and TNT allows them to do so while keeping the costs down as it's more efficient. Supply and demand. Were they not able to TNT dupe, they would have to spend considerably more time resource gathering or manually farming as opposed to focusing on content or Hermit interactions.
Last season, Doc's base required a ton of sand, so he decided to sand dupe. The thing is, sand is not a vital resource for the game in general or for the overall quality of the server. The thought was that Doc chose to make his base out of sand, he should "respect the grind" so to speak, and mine the sand as it was his choice.
Not all of the Hermits are against sand duping, but the Hermits have to unanimously agree before implementing something like sand duping. It is still in a gray area. What Doc is doing now is trying to show the Hermits how annoying it was for him last season to manually mine sand to give them a new perspective. The Hermits are all professionals doing their best to maintain the integrity of the Vanilla and balancing it with quality of life.
Edit: They also have a responsibility to their audiences. Not every audience member is okay with sand duping and it may make Hermitcraft feel less accessible to the average Minecrafter. TNT is necessary for them to function as a server, so unfortunately cutting TNT duping is not really an option
@@deltamico you don't have to. You can just drop the suplicated sand on slabs or torchs like everyone does when clearing gravel in caves.
Then have hoppers or hopper minecarts picking it up.
There's no rules when dupping that says you have to do it with 1 million blocks produced every minute.
I mean i know doc likes pushing limits so it's probably what he would like to end up building. But not ruining the experience for everyone is an obvious built in rules on a server like hermitcraft. So it's not an example that would actually happen. So you should still be able to produce your GMO sand instead of organically farming it.
it's crazy how people's favorite part of hermitcraft is so different, just like minecraft itself, some pople like the building episodes, some people like Redstone, some people like shopping sprees and some people like interactions between hermits

The warning restart pulse block can't be at right angles like that. When it becomes an active source, the redstone dust adjacent becomes a line rather than a plus, so the signal doesn't hit the piston.
A new Xisuma video is exactly how I want to start my morning ^.^ Here's hoping you don't have to wait around forever to get those turtles to hatch, I remember them being such a pain when I tried to hatch just 4 on a public server I was on
The farms are looking wonderful. Maybe the Hermits should dedicate 1 day of the week, for a 3 night cycle, so turtle eggs can hatch.

The way Doc said "Yes matey" took me outtttt.
Easy turtle egg harvest, make a 1 wide 1.5 deep trench in the middle with top slabs above(for the turtles to move over) so your head is in the height of the egg so you can run along and "pick" them under the turtles.
won't the redstone dust get redirected when the redstone block is activated? It won't be pointing at the piston anymore

I really love that in this season there is way more of an emphasis on community. I dig that everyone isn't planning on spending their whole season just on their mega base and that they're open to doing other things as well

Hi, Unless you have hidden some water two blocks below I believe your eggs won't hatch at all as they need water nearby. There's also some simple ways to collect the scutes automatically if you are wanting them.

I think the chunks the turtle eggs are in have to be loaded for the night to count. So, you spending all the time in Log Land might be the issue.

Turning nine bamboos into one bamboo block into 2 planks, and those 2 planks into 4 sticks.
or
2 bamboos into 1 stick, which takes 8 bamboos to make 4 sticks.
In other words, You are spending 9 bamboos to craft something that should only take 8.

Why are your videos posted to different audio levels? I have been playing your stuff int he background this afternoon while I work and noticed that every time a video of yours loads I have to change my volume settings. What's going on there? EDIT: I have also noticed that even videos posted within days of each other all seem to have various audio quality levels as if you own five different mics and rotate them based on day of the week or something.

glass planes in the tree farm the white one, it wont get bigger if you put 2 honey blocks in the gaps. honey block makes the glass plane stay the same :D

I was thinking you could use melons in your tree farm instread of that hopper chain since they are full blocks but glass panes and iron bars don't stick to them for the thing at minute 13:00
Curious with turtles if you have eggs and make a hatching area then move the turtles would they still try and return to the original hatching area to breed?

I don't think you need to put composters on hoppers anymore, pretty sure they changed it so you can use any solid block on top to disable their entity detection.

The color balance is really good between the Aztecs and the IJev.
Someone should do Scar a kindness and bring that over to his base, unfortunately he hates flowers. Xisuma's Aztec base has a lot of balance and color too.
For the nether sprouts farm, you can do the back and forth without water a few time before the water comes and flush everything since you have 5 minutes before the first harvest dispawn. It should increase the yield by quite a bit.
Honest question but maybe Dumb question, y the composers on top of the hoppers?

They are there to reduce lag. I think it causes the hoppers to stop picking up items, so there is less calculating.
It's fun watching people devise new ways to work with the crafters. They're really flexible and an amazing change to the game, but they can be finicky. Having an analog redstone signal enable and disable clocks, hoppers, etc in a compact and convenient way is a bit of a challenge sometimes. Recently I've been using locked repeaters to great effect, with an always on observer clock that gets almost instantly disabled by a locking repeater when the Crafter isn't full. As long as the repeater out of the clock is on at least a 2 tick delay, you never get any extra pulses to a Crafter that isn't full, but also can't get stuck with a backed up Crafter.

Another fix for the tree farm items getting stuck is to replace those slabs with stairs facing away from you. The only issue is there aren't smooth stone stairs so it wouldn't have a unified look.
Also, Fun Fact: if you have a turtle egg that's about to hatch you can place three more with it and they'll all still hatch simultaneously. So if you have one that's lagging behind just pick it up and place it with a cracked group if there's room.
Really looking forward to June 13th so I can start putting some of these autocrafting contraptions into my own world

Put a minecart hopper under the eggs that when they hatch and grow, you will get a stack of scutes.
The people around where scar's base is kept bothering him to build a nether portal even though he has said multiple times he is not going to have one this season. So eventualy he went and build a "malicious compliance" one so that no body will want to use it.
For that redsone clock, it is not necessarily necessary because the items will eventually make their way to the storage system but it might take longer therefore potentially more lag
I don’t mean this as an insult in any way but I feel like your microphone doesn’t sound as good as a lot of the other hermits.
