Hello - so it depends when you're using them. If it's to get clear before you draft the book, on others that have approached the themes etc well, then you can use whatever published books (in the genre / subcategory) work for you. If it's for your book proposal / pitch synopsis to a publisher, you'd want to include well-known memoirs in your subcategory that have been traditionally published, preferably in the last 5 years. If they're well known, that usually means they've sold well!
