  • Bay Parking Reverse. We are doing 3 reverse bay parks, the first reverse bay park is standard reverse into the parking bay between the white lines. The second bay park reverse is for people who struggle with moving the car slow and coordination. The final bay park reverse is to show you what car go wrong on the reverse bay parking and how you can correct the mistakes of not finishing in the parking bay between the white lines.
    Whilst completing this driving test manoeuvre the driving test examiner is looking for very good all round observations, also the driving test examiner is looking for you to control the car at a slow speed and finish within the parking bay white lines.

    Hey Travis. I have done my test so many times but last week was the first time I was actually confident because I was with my instructor. My fail was when I was reversing backwards. I looked at my blind spot but I didn’t look again during the manoeuvre. I honestly feel like I’ll never pass and I’ve used so much money. Do you have any advice?

    • @JamesTravis
      @JamesTravis  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's good that you felt confident on your last driving test. Don't feel too down about not passing. Reading your comment, I feel that you are so close to passing. I would write down the driving faults that you thought you had done on the driving test and then check if these match up with the comments off the examiner. Anything that is different would need more practice.
      I would keep working on the faults and every time you are in the car, think of it as a driving test.

    Hi Travis, in the test do they allow you to put a marker on your window for the reference point? Thanks.

    • @JamesTravis
      @JamesTravis  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Putt the marker on door where the window meets the door. Then if they lower the window, the marker is still there. Yes to your question.

  • @TheCheshireCat.
    @TheCheshireCat. 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I must admit since I passed 3 years ago I wouldn't do this method doesn't seem practical in the real world. However since it's part of the DVSA test (I assume) it does seem practical. The 45 degree method seems easier and can get it in first under 10 seconds, plus you're not putting wear on the tyres.

    Travis , I'm a PDi about go pink pre validation training, if you were I how would you teach Bay Parking? I'm not one for the 2.5 row lock trick but I shouldn't bring in my own preferred method should I?

    • @Tommy_67
      @Tommy_67 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why don't you let your learners decide how they park. They could choose the way that works for them.
      If you are going to teach a specific method, choose the one you use!
      Pupil's should be taught the skills needed to manoeuvre the vehicle safely, not taught a recipe they are likely to forget. Reference points are usually used to make life easier for the instructor, not the pupil.

    • @zzhughesd
      @zzhughesd 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Tommy_67 Tom, brilliant answer thanks, yes . Did my lesson PDi yesterday !! Didn't know, yes , it's for instructor the reference point, never knew, how long have you been an ADi yourself ? ed to make life easier for the instructor, not the pupil

    • @JamesTravis
      @JamesTravis  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Dan, the reference point is to make it easier for the students to remember. But you and your student can choose whichever way suits them, as long as it’s safe and covers what is needed to complete the manoeuvre.
      If you think your student can tackle the manoeuvre. Ask them how they would get it in. But remember they would need to still use observations. You will find that most would go with the way you teach them. It’s only occasionally you will come across someone who doesn’t need references to complete manoeuvre. You will also find that when the student becomes independent with the manoeuvre they will not need the reference point. Hope that makes sense.
      As with all driving test manoeuvres, the examiner marks it on control and observations.
