Regine’s was released in 1995 & Mariah’s came out in 1999 if I’m not mistaken. He was asked to pay $50,000 just to file a legal complaint & just didn’t push through because he said he was just a musician & didn’t have that amount. This song became so huge in Asia and has become the number 1 song on MTV Asia for a long time, being the only asian artists among all western singers. Jacky cheung is a major cantonese pop artist and is really big on that side of the world. John Laudon, who wrote and arranged the song, went after Universal due to similarities between In Love with You and Thank God I Found You. But since Universal published both songs, nothing really prospered out of that. But yeah most of us who grew up in asia remember this song.
